I have been using the Simxperience motion with DCS and other sims for over 4 years now. I have the one pictured above in MacThai's post with an obutto seat fixed to it. I was involved in the testing and dev for converting Simtools for use with the simXperience scn 5 actuators. When using the CV1 rift I have the sensor placed stationary on my desk and it feels perfectly natural when flying. And have have not noticed any problems or even thought at any stage to have it fixed somehow to the motion platform. Once I am seated in the cockpit I do an initial recenter then very rarely do I need to recenter the Rift. Definitely a lot less than when I used TrackIR. I suppose everybody's mileage will vary and depend upon personal tastes when it comes to comfort levels and need to recenter. I am wondering if there maybe a USB problems with some of the reports you have read re the loss of center or drift. I recall people were having problems with the sensor and incompatible usb ports some time ago? I have the recenter button mapped to my throttle and hit it automatically without even thinking if I am a bit off center. I am very interested to hear from you MacThai regards to the sim you purchased when it arrives. As much as I like and enjoy the SimXperience, it is very big and cumbersome and takes up a lot of space. The one you purchased looks nice and compact....and the price is very good. I paid nealy $3000 aud five years ago to import mine here into Australia. I use Andre`s simshaker program instead of simvibe with my buttkickers and homemade transducers. It is designed primarily for DCS and is well worth the low purchase price for the effects as good if not better than simvibe. If you need help setting up Simtools please feel free to contact me. You can launch from steam. Get app from steam called Big Screen (free). Once you have launced it and your rift is on you never need to take the rift off except for beer and coffee. And you can also add non steam games to your Steam launch library as well if you want other games that are not native to steam.

@Brixmis. I am going to order a pair of these large rimless glasses from Zenni http://www.zennioptical.com/364514-aluminum-alloy-rimless-frame.html I think the rims might be causing minor interference. I use them for all my glasses now and are a third the price of specsavers here in Oz.
-
I wear glasses too and find it good in DCS and ArmA but as above a bit temperamental when calibrating. I noticed an improvement when wearing larger rimmed glasses. Still playing with settings in the infinite extensions screen to fine tune it. Its really nice not to have to turn your head and strain your eyes in the opposite direction like TIR . Software needs maturing but is functional. Although, is anyone else having problems with the extensions software not remembering game locations and sensitivity settings between reboots? It seems to handle the 40" UHD monitor ok as well......maybe a bit stretched to its limits on the far edges ( probably the sensor FOV and the specs) but rarely need to look that far in one glance anyway.

Anyone here Use a Logykal Lince Motionsim with DCS?
Macka replied to TOYKILLA's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I tried Logykal software on my motion sim (simXperience 2DOF) earlier on but found Simtools more realistic with more axis movement i.e sway, heave, acceleration etc. http://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-motion-simulator-software/ Used with DCS 1.5 ....haven't tried with 2.0 yet. -
I think E.D will love you for suggesting they use the Orbx pricing model. Lets see....Nevada map 129,600 sqkm. Thats just a little bit bigger than ORBX Wales and Scotland combined....$32.95 + $40.95. We want Airports now do we? Lets just throw in a few detailed ones like Orbx does, Las Vegas, Reno, Boulder city, Elko thats 4 x 32.95 each. And a few smaller ones at $24.95 say 6. Of course we will need accurate roads so we will throw in a small vector upgrade there....say $24. Oh and we dont want no 75m Digital terrain model so lets make it a couple of metres in cities and 6 m in desert, addon maybe $30. Hows your math doin for this map now based on Orbx's model. Remember this has been in dev for 3-4 maybe 5 years? I think I will be happy to stick to $50-60......oh thats right...I get it for free from way back in the A10C beta days.:doh: Edit: Those are AU current prices...you can drop 10% for USD. And don't forget after 3 or 4 maps are done they'll implement the equivalent of FTX Global at a hundred bucks....ok $50 coz there's only a few maps.

This looks like a " " to me. Whether its the one being prioritized or actively developed is another question but Iris Simulations " is 100% invested in DCS: World as a simulation platform" contrary to some uninformed guesses and speculation in this thread. As has also been mentioned re ED and other developers just coz you haven't heard them shouting from the rooftops doesn't mean work isn't progressing by several developers in the background. SimTools V1.0 has now been released to the public and is fully compatible with DCS World. Its the type of program many of us have been waiting for. Its a brand new "from the ground up" package programmed by Dustin Arrel for and with the Xsimulator.net open community. It works seamlessly with the SimXperience rigs and many other types from 2DOF to 6DOF Stewart Platforms, SCNs actuators, Arduino etc etc. Head over to Xsimulator.net and join the forums and download the proggy. It is very easy to set up and is Free for all :) http://www.xsimulator.net/ http://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/simtools-v1-0.4872/ Also Logykal will soon be releasing their new software which is also compatible with DCS as well. http://logykal.net/ So it seems the motion sim scene is looking up for us DCS fans :)

I am having no problems on DCS world 126. It also worked fine on 125 for me. I found if I did a re-install or other major changes/updates to DCS I had to make sure my desired monitor setup LUA was re selected on first restart of EMC and click Install files and save (if it didnt already ask you). This essentially seems to reinitialize the files and corrects any lost setting/files during the re-install. The only problem or bug is the acknowledged bug on initial install, with the paypal window opening multiple instances (no big deal....only happens once. Dont use start after install). Great program Icemaker, hope you can get some time to add other modules. Cheers :)

This is my current version compatible with VAC 2.19 for vista. When I get time I may add more to it but this covers most commands I use. http://files.filefront.com/Black+Sharkxml/;13495474;/fileinfo.html I use right mouse to activate via JS or mouse (depress/press for entire time you speak the command). Change it to your preference. I tended to make multiple phrases for each command as you will see ie" Wheels up....Gear up..... Undercarriage up etc" as I kept forgetting the single commands....lol. I also use it for pesky programs at work like autocad and microstation....VAC is a godsend.

Black Shark Nirvana with TouchBuddy
Macka replied to DickDastardly's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
This game and community just gets better. Great work DickD. :). Went and bought a small monitor just to try this baby and see if I could use in conjunction with the Wiimote system for the touchscreen part.. Looks great on the second LCD monitor....a small ASUS 16.1 inch. Unfortunately cant get the calibration of the wiimote system to work using second display. Will play with it more tonite to see if there is a way to perfect it. By the way for any Aussies out there interested in a cheap second monitor for this, I picked mine up at JB hifi for $88 Aud. They and Clive Anthonys have it on special till Monday 23 Feb. :0 :) -
Drummer...while you are waiting for the boxed version, head on over to http://www.lockonfiles.com , and register then download Rugbutts "DCS-BS Russian to English Pit Conversion" . It certainly makes it a bit easier but is not a necessity if you've been flying for a while.

If you use the F8 key to change views you will find it may also be bound by default to the precision function of TIR. You can edit in TIR to disable it if you don't like it or disable the particular view function or select the trap funtion in TIR.:joystick:

Great website containing lots of aviation images
Macka replied to Mustang's topic in Military and Aviation
Those aren't walkarounds....they're in game shots. :) :) great stuff....actually show how well ED have done. -
Oh bugger! Better slow down on the upgrades then :(

I am not sure if in that case you would lose the activation but just in case, use the deactivate function for starforce (http://www.star-force.com/support/users/deactivate/). From the FAQ: "If StarForce detects changes to your computer hardware/software as described below, an activation will be required. The English version includes 8 (eight) activations and 10 (ten) deactivations. It's important to note that deactivations are utilized to save your activations when altering your PC hardware/software. Before conducting a PC upgrade/OS re-install, you can deactivate the product and when complete, reactivate without a loss of activations. http://www.star-force.com/support/users/deactivate/ An activation will be required if the hardware/software changes exceed 12 points as rated below: CPU ID: 13 Windows PID: 3 Computer Name: 3 Hard drive volume serial number: 3 MAC address: 6 RAM amount: 6 If you just uninstall Black Shark and then reinstall it again on the same PC without reinstalling your operating system or changing hardware, you do not need to use a deactivation." According to the above if you change your hard drive its only 3 points out of the 12 allowed???? Hmmmm!!! :) You can deactivate each of your provided 8 activation serials 10 times. So you can actually move, reinstall upgrade etc approx 80 times total before you need new activations. Incorrect then.I stand corrected DOH! BUT you must do the process correctly as per the instructions. When you deactivate you are given a code to re enter in conjunction with you current activation when you reactivate....dont lose the code number. I blundered through on one reactivation and forgot to input the deactivation code I was provided....doh! so it used up a new activation serial. Not to worry because when I reinstalled on my laptop I went back to the lst activation serial in conjuntion with the deactivation code I originally was provided and it approved no problem. Now I have Eng version on my Win7 Hdd, an unactivated Eng version on my Vista Hdd and the activated RU version on my laptop. And I am sure I will use up most of the deactivations just in time for DCS:A10 :)

Ordenance Not Showing and A/C blowing up on Weapons Release.
Macka replied to Neil Gardner's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Have you installed Modman 7.108 and/or any of the following mods Hawg11's Water FPS fixes, Crazy Sundogs Improved_Rotor.zip sounds mod or NPsAM_Final.zip runway textures? If so remove them and recheck. I had exactly the same symptoms with nil external stores and the exploding chopper. I removed/uninstalled all three mods using modman and problem solved. It may be one of those mods (and I luved them by the way) or none of them but it could also be using Modman in conjuntion with BS installed in C:\ program files\ as warned against in Modman setup.. I didn't bother doing any further investigation after I uninstalled them and game played ok. -
"will still be able to install this game after ED is gone. The pattern of good software companies disappearing seemingly overnight is not at all unusual (Jane's, Looking Glass, etc.)" I wouldn't worry too much about that. Since those guys went out of the scene no decent company has gone since.....since....oh yeah....yesterday! RIP Microsoft Flight Simulator 1982-2009. http://au.pc.ign.com/articles/947/947737p1.html http://www.futuregpu.org/2009/01/end-of-era-aces-studio-and-flight-sim.html A sad day for our genre :( :(

I have the same setup but ended up doing as you mentioned and went back to the MS FF2 as the prime JS and the X52 for the throttle. I have a problem getting a comfortable grip on the X52 JS when using, simultaneously, the twist rudder function and buttons/triggers. Must be just my awkward grip......:). Gotta say the trim is great when used on the FF2 and very natural.

I had similar blank screen then upgraded vid drivers (ATI) to 8.12Vista then to the Win7 beta drivers and fixed it. Increase in FPS 8-9 over all (min, avg and max) with Win7 32 bit from Vista 32 bit. Avg fps went from 45 to 53. e8500@3.8ghz,Sapphire x2 4850's. 4xAA and AF. All game settings on high except shadows and heat haze. Water 2 and haze 1.

Macka replied to Alexrey's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
What's all this talk about fast jets and fighters????...Pffft!!!.....you jet jockeys have Flaming cliffs......us rotorheads have been waiting for years and all we get is one measly chopper.....FC had multiple jets.....so when DCS has multiple Choppers then you can get your fast jets....Wait your bloody turn.....impatient kids......nag...nag....nag.....!!!! :) :) :) Kidding ...kidding.....dont beat me!!!!! :) :) :) -
Hmmm.....The computer I am now using to play this game is a 486 DX4........well it was in 96' or 97', obviously it has been continually upgraded since then. I have never purchased a "new computer" since its first iteration....each year ....bit by bit.....CPU by CPU.....cards....cases...MB's etc. generally 2-4 new components a year pending on the games and configurations. The least upgraded component is the sound card which started in the orig as a "Sound Blaster Live Value" and changed it to an Audigy 2 when they first came on the market.....which is still in the machine. Currently : E8500 duel core @3.8ghz, 2x Sapphire 4850s, GB EP45 MB, 4gig RAM, SB Audigy2, Themaltake Tsunami Case 600w PS, Samsung DVD multi. Acer 2416 monitor.. Not the fastest machine on the market but certainly enough grunt for the current crop of Games and sims. I would hate to add up the actual cost to get it to this iteration. :) :)
