  1. So am fairly familiar but returning to the Hornet after a while away and have some queries....in Chucks guide, page 413 that you need to release each JDAM THEN re target rather than designating several targets and rippling them......I have done this, I know it works.....so...Chucks guide needs updating? Can someone tell me about how TOO1 / TOO2 works as I cant see it explained in any of the youtube guides I found or in Chucks....If you can designate multiple different targets using the targeting pod, why do you need TOO1 & 2? Why is there only TOO1 & 2, not 3,4,5,6 etc? Practicing yesterday, I was finding that on stepping, it goes back to TOO1, why is this ? Basically whats the how and why of this feature please
  2. Definitely doing that on next upgrade, it’s just that, like the modules I own, I don’t seem to fly most of them and the terrains are the same.
  3. Have to say I am very pleased with my purchase......definitely recommend to buy. I uninstalled Sinai, Kola and Marianas to fit this on.......
  4. Thanks, when you say “groups” - does this apply only to AI flights? What about client slots? And does DCS recognise and account for unused client slots? Appreciate your help, but still hoping for more detailed answers to the specific questions above from someone in the team (or not) who knows
  5. So, I have been studying the manual as advised several times, and its still not clear......I list below the spawn slots and the catapults they are directed to as best as I can see from the manuals drawing. It is NOT clear as there are statics over intersection points of several of the pathing routes.......so I would appreciate if someone from ED can confirm these and clarify the ones that are unclear ( indicated by question mark) First number is the spawn point, second number is the Catapult: 0 > 1 ? 1 > 2 2 > 3 3 > 4 4 > 1 ? 5 > 2 6 > 3 7 > 4 8 > 1 9 > 2 10 > 2 ? 11 > 1 ? 12 > 2 ? 13 > 1 14 > 3 15 > 4 And some questions: ....( I will have further questions relating to spawns and catapults as soon as these are confirmed definitively) 1) If you place a static over any of those spawn points, that point is skipped and you will spawn on the next one...? 2) In the manual drawing, is the first spawn point ( 4 jets behind cat 1 , parked diagonally) zero , then 1,2,3 ? Why have a point zero? seems strange....1 being first generally!!! Again, its unclear from the drawing, but as I can account for all the other numbers 1 - 15..... 3) How does starting Hot or cold affect which slot you spawn in? I have a mission with 12 client slots. First player in always spawns in spot zero. If you then change slot, you spawn in slot 4....so why does it skip slots 1, 2 & 3? Next player in seems to spawn in slot 5. In relation to the original question, both of us seem to then be directed to cat 1. I have statics placed on spawn points10, 11, 12, 6, 7, 13, 14 Can post the mission if that will help.....
  6. Without checking on Tacview- I think we were both on the elevators in front of the island
  7. If what we have experienced is how its supposed to be, then that is just wrong surely? Why queue someone behind an occupied catapult when there is a free one to use and why not program it so it works like in reality, which is what we are trying to simulate here?
  8. We have made a training mission, carrier based, with 2 hot and 2 cold start spawns. When there are 2 of us starting, we are both directed to CAT1, when all other catapults are empty ......why is this? In reality, I understand this scenario ( pairs takeoff) would get one jet launched from CAT1, the other from CAT3 and the other pair from 2 & 4 after the first pair has taken off... Are the deck crew supposed to follow this logic? If not can someone say how it would work please for say 2, 3, 4 jet take offs. And can the AI handle 4 jets simultaneously?
  9. Should all these be rotated 90 degrees so the entrance is in front of the taxiway leading into it? Placement looks off to me as well.....
  10. This is 100% something they need to sort out as soon as possible…..fingers crossed! It is frustrating to wait so long for these updates and when they come, they have these annoying bugs. As making the whole experience more realistic is obviously their goal, it’s a shame that it has not been released with compatibility with static objects and the other ai being used to make the sterile empty deck look more real.
  11. I mean the “check in” call, after “inbound” & “established” calls……where you switch channels from marshal to approach………..not the initial “inbound” call to Marshall you are referring to. That guide is fantastic, was in Pieter’s squad when he was writing it, so am very familiar. See chapter on communications. It’s all a bit confusing, as DCS does not follow the exact real life procedures and does not account for switching channels or differentiate between modes of landing in its response to you.
  12. As title, I have the F18 UFC as part of my M1P and the default setting seems to be lights on, which fills each LED space with patterns of green dots..this is very annoying. I can go to simapppro and turn teh lights off, but this does not stick, you have to do it every time its turned on..... Is there a way to make this setting default? The changes you make to backlight settings etc all stick once made..... Thanks
  13. OK, I figured this out....surprisingly easy, but if anyone else wants to know, DM me and I will show
  14. I really like the on screen set up help for GBU-38 you get in the new iraq map hornet A2G mission. I thought it would be cool if this and others could be available on demand for within my training mission....... Can you do this via the F10 radio menu? And if not, what would be the best way to do this? Thanks!
  15. OK, that is interesting, thanks...I am curious as to how and why this is difficult, from a mission building perspective......when you build a mission with triggers and scripts they work for multiple different objects and you can have co op missions with scripts and triggers....whats different with a campaign?
  16. thanks, yes, I am aware of the procedure, but was wondering if the sequence matters and how the parameters are used by the AI ATC.....Check in in real life is supposed to be at 20 miles, but if commencing at 21 which you always do if a single player, commencing, platform and check can all fall on top of each other..... I was wondering if the sequence mattered, and how much leeway you get from the AI if you are late or oput of parameters or call platform before check in for example......
  17. There are lots of great single player campaigns, but none I have found that allow Co-op play, so you can fly with a single or few friends.......why is this? and do any content creators intend to offer this going forwards?
  18. Just going to start DCS and try the map out. I have been vocal in my criticism of other maps where it is due and its not been taken well by some people, but credit where it is due and hopefully, ED will carry on listening to peoples concerns and implementing improvements based on these concerns, as that way, you get happy customers. I have been saying for years how the terrain needs better mesh for increased realism and finally, its here. Its nice to feel listened to....instead of feeling like your opinions dont matter to people you have supported for many years. Well done on this release ED and hopefully the rest comes soon, so we can park a carrier battle group on the ocean. Hopefully, it wont be long before we get some campaigns and missions released for the map
  19. Apologies for all the posts, often the way when you start concentrating on something in depth! Working on Case 3 & ACLS landings. I was starting at 7000 ft approx 25 miles out and therefore check in and platform were very close as my DME was 21, angels 6....... I commenced and descended, at 4000fpm, I hit platform, called it and then immediately afterr, check in Message history shows platform at 55:35 and check in at 55:56 I carried on my approach, but did not hear the next expected calls....when I selected the radio menu again, it was still showing the platform and check in menu....so even though I was at 1200ft and approx 7 miles, I had to call platform again...... The ATC then seemed to catch itself up, but wondered what was happening and why...... Thanks
  20. As I thought then, thanks
  21. Using the AI ATC, we get instructions to "switch Approach" & then you check in. However, there is no requirement to actually switch frequencies, you can stay on the same channel. Is it possible to set it up in the ME to have different channels for marshall and approach? Would that separate the AI ATC announcements? I guess not without editing lua files......
  22. Just watched Spuds review and fly around and have to say, am pretty impressed……I had held off buying on the initial announcement after my disappointment with Afghanistan, but happy to get my wallet out for this now…..
  23. Hi, clean install, no mods, just updated.....the mirrors on my F5 dont reflect, they have a yellow, what looks like Boeing logo on a blue background.......any ideas?
  24. Will there be a thread allowed to discuss this and prospective purchasers to get some feedback before possible purchase? I saw the main thread is locked already after one negative poster........ Or will we need to rely on youtube? I can understand why if yes.
