I am enduring another slightly frustrating afternoon of Harrier training whereby whatever you have seen on a tutorial or read in a guide does not happen when you enter the sim......cut to an hour or so later and here I am asking for some more help to figure it out...... So I am working on using Markpoints and target points to designate for weapons. I am using a range training mission and the JTAC on the range has given me a target. I have loaded it to the ATHS and the target appears on my Kneeboard and on the recall page. Next step is to go to the EHSD page, press data and using the ODU, I press button 1 to scroll through WYPT, W/OS, TGPT, which I select. However, I dont get a T number showing on the EHSD, its saying W1. Why is the target point not showing? I am in air to ground, Master arm live, etc The Harrier is a great jet but of all the modules the most frustrating to learn as I have this experience EVERY time...... Thank you

I am getting a little bored of training missions using a single jet and would like to try getting involved in something more complex and realistic. In Falcon4, you could be part of complex strike packages with SEAD, CAP, CAS etc all part of it…… I am thinking of the Harrier in particular for this, although of course other airframe based missions could be swapped around How well does the AI in DCS handle this, what’s possible and what can be expected? Can anyone link me to some user made missions of this type? I have got Briefing room but am only just working out how it works, and my own ME skills are fairly basic. There is also a lack of Harrier based campaigns.

Hi, I have just started to use Briefing room to generate some missions and in the first couple, in the briefing it refers to calling in Helo or artillery support with Marker code "Helo" or "Arty". However, it does not explain how to do this... I can get co ordinates using scratchpad and in the F10 menu, if I try and call them in, it says it cant as I have not given co ordinates! I have attached the mission if that helps. Can someone tell me how do this please? I did a google but have not found anything helpful, thanks Caucasus - Operation Unchained Alley.html Caucasus - Operation Unchained Alley.miz

Possible to swap out grips on Brunner base?
markturner1960 replied to markturner1960's topic in Controller & Assignment Bugs
OK, it does actually work OK, I needed to restart DCS and also change grips in the Brunner software, but the previous column with all my bindings re appeared. Happy days ! It wont be too much of an issue if I know which airframe I intend to fly and make the required preparations beforehand! -
Does it really matter what "screen resolution you choose in the DCS options for your VR preset? I ask as my main monitor is a 5120 x 1440 alongside my winwing MP1 which adds 3 screens. These are always connected and detected by windows, I cant turn them off without messing with my display settings, and if I choose anything other than that. If I choose any other resolution other than the main monitor native, I get issues with application windows rendering off the main monitor and I cant click on them etc. However, am I loosing valuable performance overhead by this? I have tried various settings and it appears to make zero difference to the "VR" DCS rendered on my monitor while in VR.....in fact , while I think of it, why do we even need that at all when VR is running? Can you turn it off?

How does this (3Dmigoto) work alongside using DCS native openXR and the startup shortcut? I have never tried this mod, and dont want to mess with my working very nicely now install......Can I simply follow the instrcution for the "with OpenXR" version, start the mod via the window and then run DCS via the edited shortcut?

New stick issue NWS
markturner1960 replied to markturner1960's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
D'oh, that sounds like the issue....thanks guys. -
I have two grips for use on my Brunner FFB base. When I just had one, obviously no issue, but installing the second today, I had to power cycle the base and change the assigned grip in the profile in the brunner software. In DCS, I then noticed the controls column for the original stick / grip combo had dissappeared and a diiferently ttled one had taken its place, which was as you might expect, which I then had to re assign all the axis and button functions in ( Plus delete all the spurious entries DCS always assigns whenever you add a new controller.....why is this really annoying"feature" still present????) . This is leading me to suspect that simply swapping grip handles is not going to be all I have to do if I want have different grips for different jets. I dont want to have to re assign buttons & axis etc and grips in the brunner software each time. Is there a way to get around this and how DCS detects controllers?

So swapped out my TM F18 grip for an Virpil F14 version and having an issue with NWS /autopilot disengage button. I have mapped it to button 3, the pinky button and it works fine in controls options, on the ground, if I press it to engage hi gain, it turns off NWS and then no matter how many times I press it, NWS wont turn on again.... any ideas?

Usually no response from something on the radio means you have not got the correct frequency dialled in on the radio...are you using easy comms? The other one is trickier, as I dont really understand...if you have lost the function but its bound properly in controls? Can you clarify?
-
Excellent thanks, its listed...I knew I had seen it somewhere, but could not find it again for teh life of me!!

Hi, just got my new F14 grip delivered, I know it is supported by Brunner, as nairb21 ( User on here) actually got them to include it in the firmware, see here in this review: ) However on connecting the two, only a couple of buttons are recognized and incorrectly, both in windows and DCS. Opening the Virpil software, there did not seem anything I could do there as the grip did not appear in the devices dropdown window. Can anyone help? Would really love to get it working! Thanks!

Thanks for the input, it is now working! I was running version 1.2.2 of the toolkit, ( note - NOT the OpenXR tools) as soon as I updated to 1.2.4 and used the shortcut, it worked.....Thanks all for the input all and Slughead for the tip! . Log file now reports using openXR. -

Hi Baldrick. Thank you. So, I then tried running DCS directly by simply clicking the DCS .exe icon in bin. It ran in VR fine, but log said still running OpenVr. I was able to pull up the performance tools GUI in the sim.I then tried starting steam VR and doing the same thing, again, it started fine in VR, but performance was noticeably worse than previously, best described as a stutter when moving my head and fast moving ground objects out the side canopy doubling. So I defintely DONT want to run steam VR. How can I get to simply running DCS with native OpenXR support and the performance toolkit from where I am now? I enclose my latest log and a picture of OpenXR tools for WMR runtime details. This is really f*cking with my mind now!!!! dcs.log And here is a blown up picture of my shortcut, I cant see anything wrong with it? -

Thanks, I copied the runtime linked by Baldrick a few days back, I am using beta version and will send a screeny right now of the shortcut ( I did copy and paste from the forum post so it should be correct) Not using the updater, I usually use Skatezillas app, but in this case, I made a shortcut with the command line. Wont I be missing the original DCS D3D file from the biun folder, as I used the open composite .exe to install it and that removes the original file doesnt it? If I do a DCS repair and do that use default runtime change, that should sort it out? Thanks for helping out, appreciated! I notice in the opencomposite config GUI pictured, it has the default runtime as "open Composite" .I right clicked on both of the DCS icons and chose use default runtime. Does that mean its forcing use open omposite? I dont want to use open composite OR steam VR do I? -

markturner1960 replied to nikoel's topic in Virtual Reality
OK, I want to run the native DCS OpenXR, without steamVR. I have read MBucchias post and followed his instrcutiuons for this scenario checked my settings, WMR is running the WMR OpenXR runtime, Open XR tools for WMR is running version 112.2211.2002, API 1.0.24. I just ran DCS in VR using the shortcut with the added force enable VR force openXR and according to my log, DCS is launching in openVR. For what I want should I not be seeing its running Open XR? It should say VISUALIZER (Main): LAUNCH IN VR OpenXR: Windows Mixed Reality shouldnt it? What do I need to do....? -

Just to clarify, if we want to run OpenXR toolkit with DCS native openXR, ( and no open composite wrapper) whats the set up now? Do we still need the command line edited shortcut to start DCS ? If wanted to do a DCS repair and start fresh, what would I do? And regarding Turbo mode, I usually use MR and frames locked at 30, is it recommended to use Turbo as well? Thanks -
just bumping this, UFC still available
-
OK, thanks....re the station, this can be something other than the option on their site, yes? And do you really need the hand controllers? I had a vive pro 2 and had to order a base station and controller as well for that, but literally never used the controller apart from initial set up......I used a v1 station with no issues. So the Aero is basically the same?
-
So if I was to get one, what else do I need? A £400 base station as well?
-
OK, so as I suspected, I am in effect, using it as I was before. Judging from the video above the improvement gained from using the native DCS support is extremely small, enough to be not noticeable.....and combined with the issue with motion reprojection and turbo mode as explained by MBucchia, it makes sense for me to continue as I am currently. So I can forget the shortcut and simply use the Skatezilla app to launch DCS in either 2D or VR, as I was and its Saulgoodman.....Yes? And thanks for your patience!
-
Thanks Baldrick but sorry, I am still confused. Whats the openVR you refer to? I looked in my log file and it does say " Launch in VR OpenVr: OpenVr" I thought that previous to the update, we were able to run DCS using openXR, via open composite....have I got that correct? And that the update with native openXR support for DCS means that you no longer need to use open composite....have I got that correct? The only way to get DCS to run openXR natively is to use the shortcut with edited command line, correct? If you dont, you can carry on using it as you were, with open composite in the middle of the process? Correct? I know DCS is running using openXR, as I have the performance toolkit available, and steamVR is definitely NOT running....so I must be running openXR, correct? What I dont know is if I am simply running it as I always was, OR, if the open composite step has been removed from the process. How can I tell? I am asking as motion reprojection and the toolkit both seem to work fine for me, but not for you ( and others...) Sorry, this is really confusing..... EDit, to clarify, (as reading another thread , it may be relevant), I have "enable VR headset" ticked in DCS options, as before I generally used Skatezillas utility to choose wether I booted in VR or 2D, as I use both equally......
