  1. This event brings to question something else, though I have a feeling the nearby asteroid may have had something to do with this, what about the 2029 Apophis event? I mena even if Apophis doesn't hit, this thing could be dragging other debris near it that comes into the atmosphere like what we saw this morning. http://gizmodo.com/5974708/apophis-may-destroy-earth-satellites-in-2029 It's even more massive, and going to come in closer than this one, plus it's going to change orbit and have another chance at us again in 2036.
  2. Ah, Ventress, there's a long storyline about her in the 2nd and 3rd season, you'll definately be interested in. I like those Super Tactical droids they use to conduct military operations. Like Kalani here, but you'll see these later on.
  3. Aside from my favorite character from the series General Grievous, I like Cad Bane the bounty hunter, he's the Dirty Harry of Sci-Fi lol. The computer animated series does have some interesting new characters that follow the novels of the Star Wars saga that goes back a few years. It's fun to esape into the Sci Fi world for a half hour at a time each weekend even if I happen to be 37 years old lol.
  4. It does have better storytelling in my opinion. I've been enjoying it for a few years now. Can't help but like General Grievous, the man is a true tactician lol.
  5. Yea, I'm guessing a dog's fur coat will insulate them a little from the shocks, but it's amusing to see what it does to a human lol.
  6. LOL, nice one, it reminded me of this video: The kid tries on a dog's shock collar with 6 levels of shock.
  7. Yea, and not just for the JSF, it's a British development, you can see the .pdf for the system here, it appears to have 16 of those miniature cruise missiles on a Typhoon, and 8 can be carried internally by the JSF. http://www.mbda-systems.com/products/air-dominance/spear/29/ Interesting, I had not heard of this system before, learned something new. :)
  8. I always liked this video illustrating the JSF's EO DAS system, when you consider the scenarios presented in the video, and couple this EO DAS with the Radar system, you can start to see the multiplier these planes could gain on the battlefield. I'm not a fan of the JSF being an A-10 replacement, but I can see where this new aircraft is able to supplement the F-22 force and provide additional firepower when needed. Video showing some of the avionics: EO DAS system overview: AN/APG-81 AESA overview: Seeing this public info, you can see with a little imagination that these systems have huge advantages, even without considering stealth.
  9. Correct there too, it's most likely a Ballistic Missile Early Warning station for the Chinese. Though from the photos I don't know the scale of the radar, it does have some resemblance to the U.K. Flyingdales from the air as in the photo below.
  10. Correct, and a Phased Array one at that.
  11. Well Said and proposed, another +1
  12. LOL, is there anything Photoshop can't do??
  13. That monkey looks scared.... That's where the U.S. was in 1953 through 1959 I think though. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=104578202
  14. Never a stupid question when someone is willing to learn more about a subject. :) Things are not as simple as they seem, the E-3 does get upgrades you know.... http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:HIE4ES0_w40J:www.airforce-technology.com/projects/e3awacs/+&cd=10&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us
  15. http://www.testniquesinc.com/B52_1980s.aspx Some photos outside their window in the 80's from above link: In above photo radar altimiter shows less than 50 feet. I'll never forget hearing one of those things at 100 feet or less flying over the house, neighbor and I running outside at the same time and he exclaiming "What the hell was that!?" lol
  16. For me, the AI being able to fire through forest is a game breaker for me, so I reverted to just using CA to allow me to be able to position my units and move them around on the map, but even then you run into problems with some vehicles that don't seem to act like you expect them to.
  17. Very nice find, great video showing and explaining some of the systems, it's not a big stretch of the imagination to realize the power this one aircraft has, let alone the multiplier of being networked with other assets in the air, space, and other ground systems sending info to it. The touch screen systems and the huge advantage of knowing where most everything is at any one time, with a simple glance, and being a stealthy aircraft to boot gives all the advantage into seeing first, shooting first, and killing first. Thanks for that video.
  18. I LOL'd when I saw 4 AIM-120's being fired simultaneously at that mig 100 feet in front of him.
  19. LOL, tell me about it!! Did you see that crowd ducking and running in his hud lol... Man!!
  20. Ahh, so that's how they serve it in Russia!! LMAO!!
  21. Thanks for that info Xpto. Because of how the AI can sort of cheat on lines of sight through forests and such, I'm not very interested in piloting the vehicles at the moment, but it would be nice to have the AI be able to select the correct ammo and engage the targets correctly when I tell the units where to go. Even using HEAT at shorter ranges is incorrect against a tank, the T-80 as well as the M1 are pretty optimized against these types of projectiles.
  22. Just tried the same scenario with 1.2.2 and the result is similar. I had 4 Elite M1A1's destroyed before the single Elite T-80 was destroyed, however in the track briefing, in this new version it seems BOTH the T-80 and the M1A1's are now firing HE, only when the T-80 stops to fire the ATGM is where it makes progress. I wish the AI would have better targeting and ammo selection on both sides of the fence, because it would greatly add to the tactics when I'm using CA to position my units to attack the enemy. I shouldn't be afraid to have 4 M1's flank 3 T80's on the sides or behind at over 2km range. In that situation the T-80's seem to just turn around and destroy the M1's.
  23. Meanwhile, in Japan.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RaDLy3NFxk Was just too funny when you saw the rocket assisted chair lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8wYJHrTSKM
  24. I sort of liked just paying $40 for the Mech games back in the day and then just picking the chassis I wanted and configuring the mech in mech lab and just jumping online to play with my config against others. I must admit that having to grind with mechs that I don't care to use, with controller options that restrict my options in battle, and games that literally last 5 min or less really takes away from the tactical aspect I enjoyed since playing Mechwarrior 2,3,and4 online. I've been in Beta since June for MWO btw. So had some time to see a lot of improvements, and I'm sure there's more to come, but just not having the fun I had hoped for yet.
