From the manual. Right now instead of moving the tabs trimming moves the WHOLE elevator. Same happens to the ailerons and the yaw. :-/

Thanks for the update! Do you think you can edit your posts to add information on how well you can play the mission with A-10/Black Shark 2? Thanks in advance!

1.1.1.0 patch adds possibility of addon plane mods?!?
Megagoth1702 replied to GregP's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thank you a lot for your explanations. Really man, I would have never heard of most of this stuff if you didn't tell me. :) So, let's hope ED makes use of all these fine features! ;) -
Thanks. I noticed some engine configs were changed (positions of stuff) and also the gun wasnt looping properly... Thanks for fixing.

1.1.1.0 patch adds possibility of addon plane mods?!?
Megagoth1702 replied to GregP's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Maybe this will out me as a total noob, I just joined the DCS universe with the A-10C a couple of weeks ago. So I have little comparison. But the "core" of the engine was not really touched, was it? Just like arma2 (overall military simulation) - they add a lot of fancy graphics and physics for the vehicles etc. but the core is rotten old, pretty much the same that ran operation flashpoint... Multi-Core usage is poor and the engine is badly optimized. People are buying high end hardware which for example supports DX11 and the engine does nothing to use that power/technology for optimization. The core is just too old and by changing a small thing you break something else. So they just "leave it alone" for now. @GHz: Take arma2 for example. Since all the AI work is done on 1 thread it usually uses 1 core up to 80% and the others are at about 30-50%. After I overclocked my CPU the usage stayed the same, but the FPS got better. You could maybe split up the AI process a bit more, 1 thread for path finding, 1 thread for "what to do with this threat", 1 thread for "triggers and simple game logic". And then you would have 4 threads which, if split up onto all cores and synced together, would theoretically end up in much better overall performance. Right now 1 single thread is cockblocking the whole engine. That's why I say that in engines where there is 1 really busy thread the GHz matters - the more the better. Heck, you might even have better performance in A10 on a single core 5GHz processor than on my 3.2 Quad. (given the same GPU etc.). @bottlenecks at different places: I can agree on this: In the track I posted with this post I was looking at the FPS, then moved the camera a bit and then closed the canopy. At this point the FPS was the lowest (closing canopy = indicator for "at this point my FPS was lowest"). I did some testing when I just got the game and neither my GPU nor my CPU was really loaded (GPU 50%, CPU 1 core at 70% 1 core at 40-50%) and the game was running at 14-15 FPS... I am not sure what is going on there. If none of the main components is bottlenecking what is causing the trouble then? EDIT: Sorry for hi-jacking this thread. It all started with a thought on compatibility but since people who really know stuff respond I kinda keep running. It does not happen often that a DEV/guy who's close to DEVs talks about such stuff. At least I am not used to it, yet. :) badFPS.trk -

Megagoth1702 replied to GregP's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Guys with all your wet dream compatibility ideas in the back of your head... Keep in mind that the engine is really old by now and will probably be revamped in a few months/years. Keeping things compatible is only possible by using pretty much the same core engine. So what would you like more? Better performance with better systems and graphics at the cost of compatibility (but compatibility for future modules) or "kinda okay" graphics, clunky overall feel with pretty bad overall performance just for the sake of compatibility? Example: Let's say you have a 3 GHz Quad Core. The game is running on 2 threads and one of them does nearly all the work. What counts is the GHz. So you have 2 cores on idle, 1 core working a bit and one core working at 100%. Now if you would have all cores working at 70-100% you would have way better performance. Problem? Multithreading is something that sits in the deepest corners of a game engine. So to improve that you would need to re-write a big chunk of the engine. And then you probably will feel like re-writing the whole thing. So yeah - compatibility is great but I for my part would prefer a new engine over the possibility to have 4 sims run together. -
Sound mod - Megas GAU-8 and impact sounds
Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Update 1.05 Final engine sounds. Really rumbly from behind, whiney from the front. Sounds good to me. http://www.mediafire.com/?gqnp299ow43rreh -
Agreed, sometimes when doing gun runs I suddenly get flashing thingies in my screen, really disctracting. :-(

Hey folks! I tried looking in the manual but I did not really find information on this. In guns mode when looking at your aim circle there are two small dots in there. The first one is in the very centre and one is just a bit below that. When I am about 1.5 miles away from the target, get the CENTER dot on target and then engage PAC stage 1, it kinda stabilizes the dot on target but then the dot slowly goes DOWN so if I shoot my bullets land in FRONT of the target. Do I have to use the 2nd dot for that? Or maybe the area BETWEEN the dots? Help me out please, it does not sound good to me to have the dot on target just before 1mile and THEN engaging PAC in order to shoot between 0.7 and 0.5 miles. What is that 2nd dot's purpose and why does my center dot go downstairs off target so I have to re-aim all the time? Thank you a lot in advance!

Love you man.

Thanks a lot for clearing up! Now I get it... :) I am trying myself to get into that editor, kinda clunky and overcomplicated... Any tutorials ouot there?

Will these missions still be playable with A10 only? I see in the attack on Krymsk you need to wait for the KA50 to kill something?

Sound mod - Megas GAU-8 and impact sounds
Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I am glad you guys like this. :) After the forums being down for a while I got a small update for you folks who were always wondering why the engine has no low end what so ever. This is how it's probably supposed to be: Whiney at the front, low end at the end. DOWNLOAD: http://www.mediafire.com/?gakz8fs1bpekxzp Megas DCS A-10 Sounds 1.04 -added low end for the engine when looked at from the back, enjoy that rumble folks (be aware that when using fly-by view the lows get even lower which means only hardcore sub woofers/buttkickers can reproduce it. Watching the plane in F2 should do fine though.) -a little bit of low end for the engines inside -multiple impact samples randomly picked on each impact, very nice stuff, works really well :) Thanks to Niki75 for the tip -new and clean mod folder system, no more need to push around sound files, see the ReadMe -
Sound mod - Megas GAU-8 and impact sounds
Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Thank you SO MUCH for this "random" framework! I have not looked at the file yet, now so much is explained. Check the results! Pretty much no more corruptions/phasey bullshit. The only tweakable thing now are the sounds themselves, but I got other stuff to do atm. ozMCdhj8uV8 I am currently working on low end for the engine sounds. I mean yeah, it's a high whiney turbine but I am sure it needs some bassy rumble to it in order to make it feel like an A10. Any input from real life dudes is welcome. I am looking for the "feel" of the engines. Does it feel slick? Or fat? Or brutal? Paint me some pictures and I will try my best to make them sound good. -

Sound mod - Megas GAU-8 and impact sounds
Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
To be honest - I am no scripter/coder... I have absolutely no idea how to do all this. But I can also agree that the longer you make the impact sample, the better it will sound in the end. But then random bullets that hit the earth will trigger the "long" impact sound... So... Yeah, I think it's fine for now until I find out more about the engine. -
Sound mod - Megas GAU-8 and impact sounds
Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Heh well, if you have neighbours just use some decent headphones I guess... But yeah - I tried my best to "simulate" the GUN's heavyness. @Impacts: Well they are the downside of this "mod". For each explosion only ONE sample is used, to different versions, no pitch alterations, nothing. So weird phasing effects can occur. Also - the impact sample itself is not just a "bang", its a bit longer than that to compensate for the problem. But I think it's still way better compared to what was in the game originally. Some documentation on the sound engine of this game would be really neat. In my opinion the engines are lacking some low end as well. I would never put in as much as I put into the cannon but some rumble in certain situations would increase immersion and the feel that you sit in a jet that is propelled by 2 big engines. Not to speak of the rumble you should hear behind the jet. Low end is missing. -
High Resolution Road texture mod for DCS A-10C

Thank you for clearing this up Mustang but I was actually referring to this post... I thought he uses your custom roads, installed BS2 and sees the same roads in BS2. That's why I thought they have put in your roads. ;) -

New video up with most recent impacts and cannon. CRANK UP YOUR SPEAKERS so the engine of the A10 sounds comfortable. HXGa53tXJoc If anyone has one of these "Buttkicker" thingies, tell me how it is. :-D I can only imagine the vibration you get from that. My woofer is already giving some vibes through my whole house, haha. :-D -

Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Well in that case I don't give a rat's ass. Proper sounding GAU8 and impacts are more important than tank sounds. Although I am pretty sure you can tell for each ammo type what kind of explosion it triggers... I dont feel like digging deep into the configs though. Tiny update: v 1.03 -tweaked GAU8 sounds a bit, turns out my subwoofer was exaggerating bass that wasn't there. Now even the last guy with some proper phones can feel the shake. WARNING STRONG LANGUAGE but this has to go out because I am a modder myself who has got a lot of bullshit criticism for his work: Jesus dood. I think you have a "vision" because you actually sit down and do mods for a video game. How many people do that? Grow a pair and just say straight forward "Go **** yourselves guys, I do what I want and if people enjoy it - fine. If they dont, I don't force them to use my stuff." Report bad mouths - such a behaviour is NOT acceptable and any moderator will support you on this. Get them warned, kicked, banned, anything that is possible. ****ing sissies need to get their heads straight. They expect to come to the internet and have all they want JUST THE WAY they want right in front of them. Lazy mother****ers. I probably will get banned or warned for my bad language but hell no - no way a modder has to take shit from anyone! Honesty and constructive criticism is good but no way you should post bullshit comments on someones work! Heck - most AAA game developers started out by modding. Aah crap - kids these days. -
