Sound mod - Megas GAU-8 and impact sounds
Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
I am pretty sure the Ground0.wav is NOT used for anything else... Listen to the stock sound, "plop". What developer would ever use such a sound for a 120mm impact? -
Played the Dam, the Bay and ... Some other mission. Very nice work so far! :) I love your missions. The Bay is just a hardcore mo****a! But it's so cool - if you see the planes, you can pop up, kill the planes and GTFO again, but it's really intense because everything there is pinging you all the time haha. And the dam - after clearing the SAM site and some AA along the river (which took about 1hr) me and my buddy just lost the interest in hunting down small tiny infantry dudes and tiny AA vehicles. :-/ So maybe tweak that a little bit? Awesome pack... Thanks in advance!

Sound mod - Megas GAU-8 and impact sounds
Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Sorry, I did a mistake in sound selection before rendering the sounds. Please use this package from now on, the first post is already updated with the newest package. "Install" is as usual, just follow the readme. DOWNLOAD: http://www.mediafire.com/?oh4l18y285u784d -
Sound mod - Megas GAU-8 and impact sounds

Let me know what you think when you used it a few times. -
EDIT: @MODS THANK YOU VERY MUCH for moving this! I really did not see the proper forum, I am new to this so exuse me. ;) Hey folks. This is not fitting for tech support and I don't see a section in the forums just for modifications. So yeah, a video says more than a thousand words. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=403_1204057873 Two videos say even more. CRANK UP YOUR SPEAKERS so the engine of the A10 sounds comfortable. FOCUSS ON IMPACTS ozMCdhj8uV8 FOCUSS ON GUN (old impacts) HXGa53tXJoc -"new" GAU-8 sound -multiple gun new impact sounds -range for impacts to be hearable increased (thanks toLMoS for the inspiration to do that) -low end added to engine's back and a bit of low end for the inside view So yeah, I am an audiophile and I did a lot of sound editing for ArmA 2 - people seem to forget that BASS is an extremely important factor to sound. And the stock sound that came with the game was lacking bass, a LOT. I mean we are speaking about a 30mm cannon here! All I did was create a sinus wave with the rate of fire of the GAU-8 and mixed it with the sound that came with the game. I also added some "cripsyness" to each shot with another wave, but triangle, not sinus. Put in some cues for the game engine to loop the sound, done. The effect is not HUGE but pretty sweet. The GAU-8 finally sounds like a bassy, warm cannon that it is. I strongly suggest to everyone to try out "my version". "The 30mm cannon shakes the aircraft like a 20mm doesn't". - some A10 pilot from YouTube. I think I got that right. Listen to the game in some really good speakers with nice low-end/good headphones. You will hear what I mean. I also took some impacts sounds from the U-Tube and tweaked them a bit. The version of the impacts in the video above is not final, I just did some changes. But basically the impacts sound like they are supposed to sound. Brutal. The only downside is that the brutal amount of sounds being played at the same time COULD MAYBE PERHAPS screw up the audio system, but I think DCS has a sound-number capper in there so it's not a problem. In my tests I had no issues. DOWNLOAD: (This link will always be the most up-to-date version, no need to read the whole thread in case it gets bigger. ;)) http://www.mediafire.com/?gqnp299ow43rreh Enoy and post feedback, thanks.

I am working on some sound files myself right now. Found this thread - remembers me of this unbelievable video. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=403_1204057873 Brutal.

The only downside of force correlate is is that it'S pretty hard to use at night and that it does not track vehicles. And it does not like bad weather. But yeah man, it's the sniper mode for the mavericks. :D
-
Dude, how can you see her ass if we are in a crowd? :D Alright then - the way you explained it is how I always used the maverick. I don't need to watch the video, also because I can't stand the clipped radio voice. ^^ Sorry. Also there is nothing to learn. Thanks for clearing that "gotta always press TMS up short to lock onto something" up. :)

Maverick Force Correlate - the ultimative mode?
Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in Bugs and Problems
You lucky dog you... :) -
I have the "final" version of that driver. White popping up random flashy boxes appear sometimes, but not too often. I barely notice them but sometimes when they happen too often - it can get annoying. :-/
-
I have following problem/question. When I slave my maverick to my TGP SPI it is going to track the TGP. Let's say I am tracking a stationary tank. I need to press TMS up short to try to lock on, is that correct? Right now when I engage distant targets and the MAV is already in range but does not get a lock I just keep pressing TMS up short until it gets a lock. Is this the proper way to do it? Is there any kind of automatization? When I ground-stabilize my maverick, is it supposed to automatically detect a target? Or do I need to press TMS up short here too to try a lock? Again here: is there a way to make the missile get a lock automatically? Or am I misunderstanding something? Thanks a lot in advance!
-
Yeah, those ones are a ton of fun to kill! Just when you enter their radar range and just stare at your TGP and maverick and press TMS up short all the time... "just lock on god dammit! LOCK ON!" and you are already getting painted for a missile launch, popping some chaff and using the jammer you buy yourself a few seconds... Still no lock. The jammer stops jamming, you get painted again and are like "GET A DAMN LOCK YOU PIECE OF JUNK" and then finally you get a lock. Missile away - you are popping chaff, not getting painted anymore and GTFO. In like 30-40 seconds you see a nice little "X killed Y with Maverick". :) INTENSE!
-
Actually, I noticed that today in the "the serpent head" mission. I could noot look through the clouds but it was kind of a thunderstorm down there so it was understandable. Thank you for clearing this up for me! :)

Cruising - weight, height, throttle & speed?

Good to have stuck my head into some stuff that other people find interesting too. :) -

Cruising - weight, height, throttle & speed?
Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Thank you all for the replies! I am surely not looking for arcade scores, haha. :) The single player missions are fairly easy after taking down the AA threats so when AA is down I just rather leave a battlefield CLEAN instead of leaving stuff to the blufor armor units. There are a shit ton of tanks to kill and since my wingman is useless and likes to get shot down I just let him engage the AA threats he knows about with mavs and then send him back to base to finish the rest myself. And I rather do less runs for more effect. The argument that they don't send in 1 A10 for big missions is totally true. I wished I could play the mission with like... 5 other players, 3 flights of A10s. Then there would be no need for such hardcore loadouts! I really understand all of your arguments, thank you a lot for your input! Now we finished the weapon stuff, let's talk about throttle. 100% all the time? EDIT: AoA meter? Angle of attack? There are sweet spots? Huh? I surely missed something, let me open up that manual once again... EDIT2: Ok I just read pretty much all I could find about angle of attack in the manual but I can't see a section on sweet spots. :-/ -
Cruising - weight, height, throttle & speed?
Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Come on man - 6 MAVs is awesome! And after air defenses are gone - bomb the shiet out of the enemy with a ton of bombs. :-/ I mean I got no idea of real life employments but WITH the A10's long loitering time, why not arm it up to the teeth? I mean with 70% fuel the load is still 100% and 100% means "ok", doesn't it? -
Hey folks! I got a few questions regarding moving from A to B. Is it ok to be at 100% load when traveling? What abour a slight overload? My favorite configuration is a bunch of mavericks, a bunch of GBU 12s, two GBU 38s and 100% fuel. That fuel makes me weigh about 107%, is that too bad? At what altitude should I cruise around? I know for transport airplanes there are altitudes that have the best fuel/mile ratio. Is that the same for the A10? What about "perfect cruise altitude" vs. "safe from AA altutide"? Should I travel at 100% throttle? Is there an area where the A10 consumes way less fuel for pretty much the same thrust? Any tips on that? 100% all the time seems to be a "waste of fuel" since I know from several flight sims that cruising throttle is not 100%. How about the A10? Speed? I guess that here throttle is more important than speed - but what are your thoughts? And sorry, I just got an idea ... I should start looking in the manual! But while I will do that in hope to NOT find something - post up your tips! Thanks a lot in advance!

First On-Line Air 2 Air Kill!!! Wu-huuuuu...
Megagoth1702 replied to Aries's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I have absolutely no idea how to air2air fight in an A10 lol. -
Eagle forum for the win. Again!
-
You can do the first by simple marks, setting steerpoint to mark mode and slaving your TGP to steer point. But the second one, is a beech. Please explain!
-
Of course mate! :) Hit the HOTAS boat switch LEFT or RIGHT to set the TGP to FLIR black hot or white hot mode. Boat switch center sets it to "camera" mode again. :) Absolutely no reason to go below cloud level with the TGP and the Maverick D, which have infra red cameras and are suitable for bad weather and night. Also the JDAM is a suitable weapon for bad weather since GPS does not take bad weather as badly as laser guided bombs do. :) I wish you the best! You will feel like a beast having this discovered! Hehe. :)

Call for air support when bandits near?
Megagoth1702 replied to Megagoth1702's topic in Mission and Campaigns
Wow, this "game" is really faszinating... What is CAP? How high are the chances of friendly jets being taken down by enemy jets? Does it look bad in my statistics if a friendly jet gets taken down by an enemy jet just because I called them? -

Yeah, I've got that set. I will give it a try soon... It just sucks being shot down by a fighter/bomber jet knowing that there are BLUE fighters un in the air on stand by. :-/
