  1. I made the following thread of F-22 pics and movies I've been collecting for the benefit of the SimHQ F-22 TAW board, but thought some of you in this discussion might enjoy seeing them... http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=64;t=001115#000000 -- Mark

  3. I think that's debatable. Some angles of the YF-23 just aren't that flattering, IMO... http://www.voodoo.cz/yf23/b/yf233.jpg More pics... http://www.voodoo.cz/yf23/ -- Mark
  4. It's been the talk of the TW and SimHQ boards since early in the month... http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=2348 TK/TW should be releasing Wings Over Europe soon, before the WWI sim I believe... http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=2372 -- Mark
  5. I couldn't even guess what might be improved in this upcoming release / patch but as I understand it, SF is practically a one man show that keeps improving...slowly but surely. BTW, a WWI SF-based sim is also coming out soon. -- Mark
  6. Fellas, Wings Over Europe is simply the next version of Strike Fighters (SFP1/WoV), adding more modern a/c and avionics along with some other new features. A patch will also be released to add the new features back into the previous versions. Here's some pit shots (community enhancements)... http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=145;t=003023 A MiG-21 cockpit (see middle of thread)... http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=89;t=000361 A nice paper on Strike Fighters... http://www.simhq.com/_air4/air_133a.html Anyone who's curious can pick up SFP1 at Circuit City for $5.00 (I paid $10.00 at Office Max). It's an open sim with so much stuff to download it's mind boggling. Some available flyable a/c... http://www.column5.us/aircraft.shtml -- Mark
  7. OMG that was fun reading! :D -- Mark
  8. Yeah, but the mods sure are purdy! :) Again, I'll use the MiG-21 as an example of community works... http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=145;t=001281#000000 (see all pics) The Korean War campaign is pretty darn cool if you're into the F-86/MiG-15. I haven't tried the new Cuban Crises campaign nor any of the WWII stuff yet. Some of these all-inclusive mods could have been sold as a separate new game! To my knowledge, no mods for SF have been payware so that's a lot of "dated" fun for $4.99, IMO. :) Some SF screens... http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=002864 A new SF-based WWI sim should be here by summer, for anyone who's interested. -- Mark
  9. Ever play TAW? Here's a sim from 1998 that'll make just about any new sim feel dated in one way or another, including SF. TAW was way ahead of its' time, IMO. -- Mark
  10. Man, how cool was that?! -- Mark
  11. Do my posts appear any different to you than everyone else's because they look normal to me. Anyone else see a problem with "handi-sized letters" and yelling? -- Mark
  12. TAW, of course...:p Having allot of fun with this old sim which I just purchased from this outfit that sells it brand new! Santa is bringing me a new computer. See my first box in the background? :D I can't freggin' wait! -- Mark
  13. Oh yeah, make sure to patch it. Most people felt SFP1 was incomplete before the patches. Also, the sim is considered lite but the community is working on things like flight modeling. Check out this thread by a real-life AV-8 pilot regarding the community Harrier... http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=145;t=001428 -- Mark
  14. Strike Fighters Project-1 is a fun sim, IMO. Circuit City has it for only $4.99 in-store or online... http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/Search.do?c=1&context=&keyword=strike+Fighters&searchSection=All I've read that the follow-up Wings Over Vietnam can be found at some Wal-marts for $10.00, but I've haven't personally seen it lower than $20.00. SFP1 runs just fine on my old non-gaming computer (1.7GHz / 512MB SDRAM / Radeon 9600 SE), 1024x768, all graphics maxed except Mirrors and Shadows turned Off. The follow-up Wings Over Vietnam doesn't run quite as smoothly on my rig. Officially, the era is '50s/'60s, but almost everything has been made a flyable in this sim... http://www.column5.us/aircraft.shtml Even fictional a/c like the Firefox are works in progress...:) http://www.simhq.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=55;t=011630#000000 http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=55;t=011697#000000 I won't REALLY get into SF until it better supports modern avionics, although the community has already hacked in some impressive features. I'm hoping SF can one day give me the same enjoyment as I once had with an old sim, MicroProse's Nighthawk F-117A Stealth Fighter 2.0. Right now the only F-117 option I have is in Jane's USAF.:( This thread explains the fun of the old MicroProse F-117 sim and how SF might soon become a suitable "replacement" (read IndioBlack's comments)... http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=9479 This sort of thing isn't everyone's cup of tea of course (I wouldn't expect anyone here to think so), but it was something different for an air combat sim and I thoroughly enjoyed it. About realism, SF is considered a "lite" sim by its' developer but I don't know why anyone would have a problem playing the supported era with full realism settings. That is, if you're into old jets like the MiG-21... http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=145;t=001281#000000 (check out all the pics) I can see why some might shun the modern (as it is now) and fictional birds, though. Me, whether I'm playing Falcon 4.0 on full realism settings are some mindless first-person shooter, I'm just looking for some fun and Strike Fighters is allot of fun to me. I have to admit though, flying the community A-10 and F-15 in SF, although excellent works, is more of a tease of what I have to look forward to when I get a new PC (Lock On already purchased).:p -- Mark

  16. I assume that this thread is still in the back of your mind... http://www.simmersworld.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=9709 And I still disagree with your comments about it (top of page)... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/38610606/m/6831099473/p/2 Start of thread... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee/forums/a/tpc/f/38610606/m/6831099473 IMO, VVBusH/VVaFFenPanZZeR was just plain trolling.:icon_wink Man, why can't we all be like hardcore Falconeer "F4 instructor" BeachAV8R who creates fantastic Lock On videos? http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bbs/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=146;t=000404 -- Mark
  17. So which cockpit functions in Falcon require you to use the mouse to click without having a keypress alternative? And more importantly, are there any like this which are usually needed in the heat of battle? It seems to me that a clickable pit helps with not having to remember (or reference) so many key-ins, especially for those functions that can be done leisurely. -- Mark
