Yes, you're really doing a great job here EvilBivol! I hope you get that (boring) legal stuff sorted out soon, so we can finally get some pictures :)

Same bug here. Execessive use of the GAU-8 causes an crash.

If the F-22 programme hadn't been ended...

Haha, now I've got it ;) *voteclose* ^^ -
They are great, indeed. Just wish to get some fitting LCDs ...

I'm interested in what makes it difficult to create screnery. I don't actually want to make a map, but I'm very interested in what makes it difficult and how it is done. I know that there is a wiki page which describes part of this process on a very technical level. However I'm more interested in a rather top-level view. Let's say we're modeling a location in the US, e.g. some part of Nevada ;) What do you do to get it done? First you need some basic map and then you will want to get into a lot of details. For the start there is at least the public domain TIGER data by the U.S. Census Bureau, then there are public domain elevation data from NASA. I'm quiet sure you can use those even in commercial applications. What I'm not so sure about are other sources, like OpenStreetMap (X-Plane 10 uses it), commerial Maps (Google, Bing, ...) and different kinds of aerial images (you will need a proper license for most of them). What of those do you pick? Which ones do you have to avoid? If you got this information somehow into your 3D model, what's next? Do you need someone "on-site" to take pictures and stuff? Or can you do everyting from a remote location? What about military areas? Those are usually rather closed to the public. Do you have to guess on the details there or is the military so generous that you can actually get detailed data from those areas, too? You would probably do some kind of automated import of most of the data into your model. But what exactly do you need to do afterwards? Do you need to "touch" every part or only those with sturctures on it?

DCS: Combined Arms Pre-Purchase / Open Beta Available
simtex replied to Wags's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
Nevermind. You're the hero of the day anyway :D Edit: "You" includes everyone at ED and TFC ;) -
Dedicated Server Dear ED, would you provide us with an dedicated server for DCS:World, please? I think that this would give the whole DCS community (say: customers) a noteable boost. And while you're at it please consider the following: the server should not required a license/activation. Since every player joining the server will need one I think that would be ok, don't you think? Make it run on Linux. There are far more (affordable) Linux servers out there running linux than windows servers. and maybe you could improve the multiplayer server browser in the DCS:World client a bit Thanks!

Yesterday I've made a visit to the SoF and it was great fun. First of all I'd like to thank all attendees for their warm welcome, especially Sebur and STP Dragon. I'd like to recommend this event to anyone and I'm looking forward to joining you guys next year again. That time I'll promise to bring my PC with me. Flying a round of Ka-50 in Seburs BlackBox2 was a great experience and now that I've seen this masterpiece first hand I'm even more impressed than I already was after watching the YouTube clips of it. It was also very interesting when someone (sorry, forgot your name :/) showed me what you can do with the Ka-50 when you know how to do it. Great event, thanks to everyone involved!

What if? 2 same planes different quality.

You mean the Domain which was registered by ED? No, I don't think that's too much of a hint. Domains are cheap. If I were ED I'd register any available domain for any product which I _may_ release in the next _years_. I'm still hoping for an DCS:F-16C by ED ... -
That'd be a nice deal: For every day an announced product is delayed you promise to post at least one new screenshot. How about that? ;)
-
I belive you're right. The improvements in DCS:W were quite a pleasant suprise.
-
No, you got that wrong. It's spelled "Mon-we-got-all-serious-bugs-fixed-but-will-delay-the-release-some-days-anway-day" :megalol:

Sales total for DCS (at least Black Shark) ?
simtex replied to Erforce's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
The CA Trailer is awesome, ED/TFC should make similar trailers for their other products, too. Thats a cheap way to spread the word. The free Su-25T in DCS:World is a very clever idea, too. The website could see some improvements. -
Well said. Yesterday I've compared the LOMAC A-10A to the DCS:A-10C and was like ... wow! The DCS series is truly a leap forward in (combat) flight sims.

An interesting summer so far!

You've stated exactly whats going on in my mind wrt. DCS. -
No matter what WE do, THEY will do what they think it's best anyway. At least I hope they do.
-
You're right. I've got that mixed up. It should have been the other way round (as you said). Sorry. And btw. guys, please calm down. I'm not talking about which one is better. I'm not talking about russian jets, neither european nor F-22 or F-14. Not even about BVR F-15 vs. F-16. I was only asking for some clues about head-on BFM between F-15 and F-16. Let me rephrase my question: Given that an F-16 could outperform an F-15 in head-on BFM, why could that be?
-
Where did you get my keyboard from? ;)
-
I was just reading the Falcon 4.0 manual and encountered the the following sentence in a chapter covering BFM (Basic Fighter Maneuvers): "Other head-on BFM mistakes are [...] not lead turning or trying to BFM an F-15 Eagle against an F-16 (which is especially stupid)". Could someone shed some light on this, please? Why would it be especially stupid to BFM an F-15 w/ an F-16?

Win7 64bit Intel Core i7 GeForce GTX 460 16 GB RAM Although I would use Linux if DCS would run there ... (I'm using Linux for everything besides gaming).
