I've been messing with this now for a few hours and for the life of me I have no idea what's going on. I'm about ready to throw heavy objects.
Played FC2 just dandy, no problems what so ever. Even got an A10 HOTAS from Thrustmaster.
Just got a new 32" HDTV with PC input and running it. Every other game I have hasn't thrown a fit at all.
FC2 refuses to load the engine. Neither does Black Shark or A10C.
I can get into menus in SP, the minute I try and do a quick start or even view a track, crash.
I can't even start MP because it loads the engine first I believe. Same result.

Things I have tried and not worked:
-Reinstall video drivers
-Reinstall DirectX
-Turn off all fancy settings for SLI and stuff
-Uninstall all mods
-Turn off all anti-virus and other background programs
-Even turn off the Thrustmaster TARGET software
I've build this system from scratch and this isn't my first rodeo. I have no idea why my system suddenly wants to do this. I can only link it to a recent windows update.
Other games seem to work just dandy. DxDiag.txt
My personal best was taking off and forgetting to turn off the anti-dust. Kept wondering why I couldn't get over those mountains without my engine starting to overheat. I pushed it to try and get over but never made it. My engines decided to go home without me.
VBS2 and Steel Beasts Pro (the full version, not PE) can communicate with one another and share data across the networks already, allowing for that type of interaction.
Would be awesome to have but I don't think any one company is going to be able to fit it all into one game because of budget constraints even when times are good.
Running 1.12 on WinXP SP2 and when I close the canopy, I don't get ANY sound from anything outside. No engine noise, no wind, no weapons fire, nothing. Adjusting the in-game options has zero effect.
Any ideas?
Yes, I have norton and realized that was what the problem was.
I've noticed that several games lock up when Norton tries to bring up the authorization dialoge box to allow the program access through the firewall. The only real solution is to disable it to prevent the box from trying to come up.
Of course I'd like to know why the bleeding $* Lock-On needs to contact a DNS server when I want to play single player or just simply access my options. >:(
It was a Starforce problem, and they were nice enough to provide me with a work around.
However, I still have another issue with Lock-On itself, so I'm going to write another thread.
I purchased the downloadable version of Flaming Cliffs
and am unable to start it. The StarForce program keeps
telling me that the exe is corrupted and to reinstall.
I've done that three times (installing Lock On from
the original disc, patching up to 1.02 and then
installing the FC installer) and keep getting the same
error. Any ideas on how to get around Starfarce?
