We needa NateTracker!

I land the Su-25T by treating it like a 737. Personally I love the thing. It's great fun and a serious challenge to fly effectively. In FC2 MP I did pretty good with it, even at night. It's also my understanding that the Vikhr doesn't actually track a laser on the target, but instead looks behind it at the firing aircraft and a laser grid projected by that instead. If the missile happens to fall outside the grid, it goes DERP.

The other problem with Diaries is someone has to actually take the time to gather information, have it approved by the powers that be at DCS, then actually write and post it. Dev Trackers are way better.

E = ECM There's a better ECM pod you can fit, the MPS-410, usually with the Phantasmagoria if you want to go SAM hunting. It does take time to warm up however, so you need plan ahead.

DCS shared weapons between modules
Eihort replied to 104th_Crunch's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
I'd imagine if there's some weapon not in DCS:W that a 3rd party developer needs, there would be some sort of certification process ED would do to make sure it's up to snuff then stick it in a patch or something. -
My whole point is I already purchased the product. I can perfectly understand locking the forum only to people who actually bought it. I bought it at a large chain store. It came with a key and required activation. I do have read-only access to the forum. What I can't understand is why I have to pay more money for something every other game comes with for free, and something that VRS will get a bigger benefit out of.
-
Just make sure you don't buy a copy from a retail store, because you have to pay them -more- money just for the right to post on the forums. I paid $29.99 at Fry's for the thing, which is a "heavily discounted price" (their words in an email to me) versus the $44.95 on VRS' own store, that doesn't include forum support. If I want the rights to post on the forum there, I have to pay an extra $6. Let me get this straight. You want me to pay VRS more money because this product I purchased that in no way stated anywhere on the packaging that it was some sort of "discount" product that didn't include forum support, which I can't even think of one game/company/publisher that doesn't include it for free, so that I can have my support questions answered by other users, who don't get paid, and post any skins I'd like to make that support their customers, and not get paid for those either. I'm extremely bitter about the whole thing quite honestly, and this unprofessional display by VRS in that trolling post doesn't endear me to them much either.

I played the ever living **** out of that game. Oh memories of the infinite carrier deck. I would love to have an F-4
-
You know that's an F-8 and not an A-7 right?

I've had three pots in CH products die on me over the years or go out of whack. One of them is a complete bitch to change. I'm not impressed with -any- of their stuff.
-
Well that's some really good news.

One of the big buzzwords in game development over the past few years has been emergent game play. A DC is precisely that and one of the reasons so many people, myself included, love it. You have -no- idea what's going to happen, ever. Sure. There are ways to include randomisation in DCS' mission editor, but there are limits, and there are only so many contingencies mission creators can plan for. The multiplayer aspects of CA will help a lot, but there's still the perpetual problem of making sure there are people to actually play with that know what they're doing. I'd certainly hate to go fly an awesome mission just to find that the hole I punched in an armored battalion has no follow through because our commander is sending unescorted tanks into a city full of enemy SF. Or worse yet, log on to find servers that are empty. I don't really buy some of the arguments that a DCS F-16 would be inherently 'worse' than the BMS one. I think a lot of people have their opinions clouded too much by their personal preferences. If the previous products are any indication, a DCS incarnation would be just as good in terms of cold hard features. I do feel it's a bit of a missed opportunity as the BMS team could actually make some money utilizing their resources making an excellent Falcon for DCS, and open people up to the BMS DC in the process. Same with VRS and their Super Hornet for FSX. I suppose in the best of all worlds, with cross-pollination of players, DCS would find value in implementing a DC and ironing out multi-pit.

Unlike ARMA however, DCS will not be limited to freeware projects. I don't know for sure, but I'm certain that there's no means for Mod teams to actually charge for their product. Look at the popularity of the DayZ mod. I'd bet that outside of donations, those guys haven't made a dime for all the copies of ARMA 2 that got sold when people bought it just to play it. You also see (usually) nearly glacial progress on some mods because you're completely at the mercy of someone donating their free time. One of the best moves ED did was implement the 3rd party system so that various developers can actually make money on modules for their product. We've already seen some extremely juicy fruits growing on that vine and it's only a matter of time before we get some tasty tasty pie. <_< >_> Two seaters for the win. Make it happen ED, please make it happen.

Can't wait to tool around Desert East.

I think part of the problem will be mitigated by the fact that this type of title has a very specific audience. You're not going to have your average 12 y/o bug mom and dad for money for this game because they most likely have never heard of it. Even then, they should quickly lose interest. I don't think a lot of those "What key switches targets?" people stuck around in A-10C that long. They either learned how to do it properly, or stopped playing altogether. General anarchy will still be a problem from time to time but I don't think it'll be that bad.

I know it was stated that we won't be able to control multi-unit SAMs (i.e. SA-10), but is this set in stone? I think it would be kind of fun to at least allow a human to control most SAM units on a side to replicate full on IADS since I've seen it stated the AI doesn't really do that.... provided of course that the HQ units required for such connectivity still exist. Multiple humans controlling multiple sam units via VOIP would be awesome. >:)

I agree. Shutting everything down starts a repair script. The plane actually lifts a foot or two, all the panels open, and then it drops. If you move at all while hooked up to ground anything or while rearm/fuel, the ground crew freaks out.

Fired up BS2 with my old TARGET profile and I noticed that sometimes, and it's horribly inconsistent, that key combos, like shift-H, sometimes execute without the shift function. Sometimes I'll get H, sometimes I'll get Shift-H. I've tried changing the default press delay to 0.4sec and even straight up hold-functions but it's still having issues at times. Also, some of those commands can't work as hold functions. Anyone else having this issue and if so have they solved it?
-
Mine doesn't do this at all. I have it on the china hat switch and forward zooms, press back and it zooms out. What switch do you have it on?
-
Could always post them on photobucket or something and link people to them.

I experience a large amount of failures with the flight stick actuator and the flight suit insert.
