  1. Your all living in the dark ages, Mac laptops are approximately the same cost as the equivelent dell machines, if not cheaper, and yes you can dual boot using boot camp. It's very simply follow the link. http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/ You can even run windows xp seemlessly in os x, but the 3d graphics cards are not yet supported, sooon though. Then no more dual booting. http://www.parallels.com/ And where is can you get 8 cores of xeon goodness with any of the following cards NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT (256MB), ATI Radeon X1900 XT (512MB), and NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 (512MB). You can even run up to 4 7300 cards!! What did you get btw? The only laptop that will not run so great is the macbook line (intel950), they don't have the latest mobile gfx cards from ATI or Nvidia. May be ok though.
  2. Why has the US Navy not bought into the F-22? Do they have something against Lockheed?
  3. I'll bite, nice press release hehe. But I think Eurocopter would beg to differ :P
  4. Couple of questions on ECM Blinking: If you launch a 120 then lose TWS or STT then later reaquire the target will the updated track info be sent to the missile? (in lockon not RL), same question applies to semi-active missiles. Anybody know how HOJ is affected by blinking if you manage to get a shot off? Does it continue to track?
  5. Don't get carried away with classification, the methods are well understood it's the performance parameters that will get you locked up :P
  6. I think you should explain the two blinking methods listed in your quote rhen ;)
  7. no, someone with enough rank didn't like it.
  8. I think you'll find most self protection jammers are deceptive not noise (quote below). Kinda of counter productive to blurt out I'm on this bearing if your trying to move a return of it's true location, especially with triangulation via data links. "AN/ALQ-165 ASPJ is an automated modular reprogrammable active radar frequency (RF) deception jammer designed to contribute to the electronic self protection of the host tactical aircraft from a variety of air to air and surface to air RF threats"
  9. Yes but that's the difference between noise jamming and deceptive jamming ;) .
  10. Monopulse - meant traditional non-doppler
  11. Politics - some bean counter decided to sole source LHM for all future fighters! Be interesting to see who gets the next Bomber.
  12. I don't even think ECM Blinking (NOISE) would work on a doppler radar. It would just discard the noise as there is no frequency shift. Might help when beaming though. The only reference I've found to ECM Blinking is against monopulse radars. The other methods, range gate pull off etc, listen for the scanning radar for a while then try to induce fake velocity information on the radar returns thus it drags the target away from where it really is. Eventually the scanning radar will get no returns from where it expects the "fake" tgt to be and drop it then pick it up again in the real location and so the process starts again. <- not modelled in Lockon and not equivelent to ECM Blinking by sticking a macro on your joystick. Think the range gate pull off could be modelled well by making making a missile track slightly of a tgt with Music on and maybe taking a couple of seconds to drag the missile out of proximty range once the seeker goes active. Also only letting it handle one sensor at a time, thus if a salvo is fired it might help you escape missile 1 but missile 2 is coming for you.
  13. There is a REAL ECM Blinking technique (not pilot controlled) but is not fitted to the F-15C or Mig/Su as modelled in lockon. If ECM blinking is allowed then so should R77 on Su's!
  14. OVER-G OVER-G OVER-G, give the pilots to much power and they'll break the thing apart :) You can't trust em :P
  15. :poster_ban: hehe
  16. Nothing a bit of low level turbulence wouldn't fix! or the occasional flying fish :)
  17. Good pick up, it looks like it's a simple equation for monopulse radars and doesn't take into account S/N ratio or frequency shift. It's really just giving you the theoretical detection range for perfect conditions.
  18. at least we worked out how to wake wags up :)
  19. I hope they let women man the sites, no more boy babies. ps I don't think an S-300 is going to be operating for long in a conflict :)

  21. AMRAAMS and 30 paces :) Sounds like a good H2H battle is needed.
  22. I'm with Bat, I haven't flown for ages due to being OS but every time Ice posts it's quickly followed by a barrage. Not sure what the aim is but 169th has been around since day dot and Ice and crew, including ex members, having given a lot to the community, the only outcome will be the squad will shut down and the server lost. C'mon relax and breath, we love you all. :chair: Take it easy, AT.
  23. Haven't yet had a play with it but it looks good :) http://www.f22totalairwar.de/F-22_Total_Air_War_Stealth_Radar_Cross_Section_RCS.htm
