Wohaa that detection range for a 3m2 target in look down/up is pretty poor?

Says it all :) :smartass: http://images.apple.com/movies/us/apple/getamac/apple-getamac-security_480x376.mov

This has got to be the ultimate stick if you can afford it, anyone got one? http://www.realsimulator.com/html/fssb.html

The same way a 120 gets launched from a humvee.

There is a debate going on but the government is not listening. Maybe the RAAF knows more about it's performance than Koop and co? Most of the debate is on exactly that, how short legged it is and how much payload it can carry compared to the F111 (which btw have glass cockpits too: megalol: ). The SU-30MKI is obviously a pretty impressive aircraft!!
-
Is there an R77T in production?
-
He also forgets that a couple of well placed JSFs will detect the SU-30 emmissions, and by the time we have JSFs, send a AIM-120R or a METEOR in that general vacinity.
-
:megalol: karlo's not so much an F-22 zealot but he does has a strong opion about trying to replace the long range F-111 strike capability with the JSF. I think it will be one fine aircraft as long as the US doesn"t handicap it with a few radar reflectors! Well and truely good enough for our needs with Meteor or the nex gen AMRAAM load out. ps The last time the RF-111 was used in anger was to spy on some greenies in Tasmania protesting about a dam being built ... the greenies one thank god.

I don't know if this article has been linked to before in the forums but includes some nice Su30-MKK and SU-30MKI cockpit shots. http://www.ausairpower.net/APA-Flanker.html

Got a link to the video? http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=8767&highlight=movie points to a dead thread. Also in lockon is there a way to defeat a bandit trying to beam you?
-
It's great!! I use it to run windows apps on Mac OS X, it basically hides the windows desktop and runs the app on on mac os desktop (Coherance mode). Very very quick, actually boots faster that a regular installation. You can also let it use your dual boot partition and boot out to play lockon etc with the one installation. Note: Bill's vista licence only lets you run the ultimate version on virtual machines and it's very resource hungry, I'd stick with xp or win2k.

Whats in a name: Tiger HAP : The Tiger HAP/HCP (Helicoptere d'Appui Protection / Helicopter for Close Protection) is a medium-weight air-to-air combat and fire support helicopter built for the French Army. Tiger HAD : The UHT (from Unterstьtzungshubschrauber Tiger; Ger. supporting helicopter Tiger) is a medium-weight multi-role fire support helicopter built for the Bundeswehr (German Army). Tiger UHT : The Tiger HAD (Hйlicopter d'Appui Dйfense / Support-Defence Helicopter) version is essentially identical to the HAP version, but with 14% more engine power available due to the upgraded Enhanced MTR390 engines and a better ballistic protection. It can also be equipped with the Trigat anti-tank missiles that were originally developed for the German UHT version. and last be not lease aguably the most potent version Tiger ARH: The Tiger ARH (Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter) is the version used by the Australian Army. The Tiger ARH is a modified and upgraded version of the Tiger HAP with upgraded MTR390 engines as well as a laser designator incorporated in the Strix sight for the firing of Hellfire II air-to-ground missiles. Instead of the SNEB unguided missile, the ARH use the 70 mm(2.75Inch) rockets developed in Belgium. Don't get me wrong it's very good at taking out tanks still, although I've heard the triget missile is a dud.

:book: The tiger is designed to get very close to the enemy with out being seen/heard. Both a much lighter and more nimble than the Apache and Rooivalk. Rooivalk (FAT FAT FAT to quote little britain!) maximum take-off weight 8,750 kg minimum operating weight 5,730 kg maximum internal fuel 1,469 kg Tiger (only eats Dust!) design mission weight 5400 kilograms alternate gross weight 6000 kilograms Empty weight: 3,060 kg (6,750 lb) Max takeoff weight: 6,000 kg (13,000 lb) Apache (YOU ARE ONE FATTY) Empty weight: 11,387 lb (5,165 kg) Loaded weight: 18,000 lb (8,000 kg) Max takeoff weight: 21,000 lb (9,500 kg) Also have a look at the anti-tank missile load outs. ref:arm-technology.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurocopter_Tiger and many others. In April 1997 an agreement was announed under which the Rooivalk attack helicopter will be marketed to the world's military forces under a joint co-operation agreement between Denel Aviation and the Franco-German Eurocopter group. Eurocopter produces a similar attack helicopter, the Tiger, but the Rooivalk is about 50% heavier. The Rooivalk will be targeted to customers wishing to buy a heavy helicopter, while the Eurocopter Tiger will be sold to those with who require a smaller machine.

Its a lot bigger no? Tigers a recon helo whilst this is an attack helo as per the Apache.
-
Nice, don't know much about the Rooivalk, how does it stack up against the Apache .. since they perform similar roles?
-
Beep beep beep, no that's not the RWR, it's me backing out of this thread. :pilotfly:
-
Reading betweein =4c= Hajduk Veljko's lines, I think he was trying to say: That the US Apache is no good, due to the transmission problems they had in 1999 and the lack of pilot training in the mountains and therefore, in fact, no combat helo is any good. :helpsmilie:

F14 is old ... whats the big deal?
Anytime replied to JonTex's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
May be a big war head and the fighters not knowing what was inbound! -
Maybe ... for those choppers that have to sit there in plain site and laz the tgt while the missile rides down it ;)
-
Should be renamed to the "Cane Toad" with all those bumps!
-
Stick in center vs right-side stick

Can"t say I see either of those aircraft in the F-23 design. How does the HMD give the pilot an unobstructed view?? AT. -
Su-25T Laser Rangefinder - what's it for?
Anytime replied to Wild.Bill.Kelso's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Previous posts just stated the At-9 was laser guided, no biggy, and web sites stated the missile was lock on before launch, ie acquire the laser before launch, bit hard to do if the seeker is in the rear end of the missile and the designator on the nose of the chopper. -
