F-117's being phased out starting as of now.

Yeah then why did it just get slammed at a senate enquiry recently for not being able to perform it's duties any better than the Hornet. I'll see if I can dig up the link. -

Yep and with the JSF now going to cost in excess of 100M USD I think you'll see a lot of countries rethink their next purchases. The US has also identified a rather large gap:- http://www.afa.org/media/reports/Bomber0207c.pdf -

What makes u think current generation fighters will see the radar? It's very difficult to detect as per most modern frequency agile radars. -

The F-111 already has a 1553 bus and a 1760 bus for the weapons. It's come a long way since the US retired them. -

I thought India and Russia were going to collaborate on the next 5th Generation Soviet fighter. Russia maybe not be able afford to go it alone (neither can the US thus the JSF strategy) but Inidia sure can thanks to all those call centres ;) It'll be 15 years for anything is flying! By that time skynet will truly be active "E band data links" and strike UCAVs and stealth will be your only chance of surviving. -
How much rudder do the Virtual Thunderbirds use during a display?
-
Yes, with E2Cs and CEC those long range shot should have a much higher PK. Thought they basically had the same combat system and radars as the Arleigh Burke's anyway.
-
Ticonderoga has 128 cells for SM-2s? You might run out of fuel before they need to reload. Not to mention the sea sparrows now replaced by the Evolved Sea Sparrow. Taking out a AAW destroyer or cruiser should be next to impossible without a very well coordinated attack.

What radar will it have, anyone know for sure? http://www.ausairpower.net/SuperBug.html Arrrr, which region are you talking about the Tasman sea?? hehe -
Might be old news for most of you but I just stumbled across the US Airforce magazine online, some great reads about the F-22 powing and the one below on the F-117. :pilotfly: http://www.afa.org/magazine/dec2006/1206vega.asp

Nice tanks, do they shoot at the heli's attacking them?

lol I'm in two minds about jamming now. Given the ECCM available on modern radars the best SDJ is going to do is give you is seconds to try and hide or degrade a missiles performance. The modeling of a the noise jammer against the APG63(1) is fair enough but forget it for any frequency agile radar, you'll need standoff jamming or deceptive SDJ. With the later the track should start in the right position and then slowly move off by a few miles. The bogus track should also be dropped as it moves too far away from the original track and the whole process starts again until the jammer can no longer produce returns strong enough to confuse the radar/missile radar. An active missile chasing a a deceptive jammer would end up doing small s turns until it gets burn through or the targeted pilot has managed to get out of the seekers fov. Same thing while any missile is being supported by the host platforms data link. It'll be flying for an intercept course on the bogus track. As for GG ideas it should be limited to the top 1 or 2 threats only. see the description in: Airborne Pulsed Doppler Radar. Think it would work well, 1 the ECM does something useful, 2 you can fire salvos of missiles to increase you pk and 3 it's reasonably realistic and implementable. I'd also love to see standoff jammers modeled in the next project, with the ability to call them up and ask for support when needed. They'll make for nice HOJ tgt :)
-
Sounds good, as long as you can still hook the jammer strobe and the HOJ shots are scary enough to make someone think twice about turning it on.
-
ahh found one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starstreak This would be nice to see chasing a few low flying migs in lockon :)
-
thought the blowpipe was steered manually, no lasers. Does the Mig-29/Su-27 have a laser rangefinder on the EOS? I don"t think you'll be worried about a battle field laser lighting you up, think your eye balls would pop before you get to look and your warning indicator.

Ahh, why do fast jets have LWR btw? The only threats I can think of are the optical tracking systems of ships and I suppose a tank could have a fairly good chance of hitting a fighter coming straight in.
