New monitor for DCS Looking to get this 27inch IPS display which is on offer for around £500: Acer Predator XB271HU Q) Can anyone suggest a cheaper Freesync alternative IPS display? Q) I'm going for IPS because of the image quality, is a 4ms IPS a practical disadvantage against a 1ms TN panel in DCS?

Next aircraft... as long as it's something you can land on a carrier I'll be happy!

What touchscreen size for full size pit
Django replied to Django's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
OK... Mods please delete this thread. -
I'm considering DCS + Helios multi monitor, front + L panel + R panel. Q1) If I want the 2D panels to be the same size as a real cockpit what size touchscreen monitors would people recommend I look at? Q2) Any particularly good brands for touchscreens?

9900K Motherboard Choice
Django replied to iKyrThraad993i's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Fro my i7-9700K build I went for a Gigabyte Z390 Ultra. The Gigabyte Z390 boards have the best VRMs among Z390 gaming boards. Also unlike some other manufacturers Gigabyte weren't shipping their Z390 boards with auto overclocked settings which may not have been obvious to regular users! The main complaint from people seems to be the Gigabyte BIOS... but since I haven't actually put my system together yet I can't comment on that! -
Moved.

Samsung EVO SSD's and Rapid Mode.
Django replied to Ntrospect's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Can anyone suggest a technical reason why this feature is limited to only one SATA SSD? Also, for those running two SATA SSDs, one for OS and one for DCS, is there really any advantage for DCS vs all on one SATA SSD? I figure you'd be better off all on one SSD with Rapid Mode enabled. -
HOTAS single throttle and multiple engines
Django posted a topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I'm planning on getting a Thrustmaster T.1600M FCS HOTAS throttle and joystick set. When flying a twin engine aircraft how do you guys go about managing each engine separately, e.g. if you need to shut one down in flight, if you only have a single throttle? -
Perhaps with this project ED will review how G tolerance is modelled in the sim with a view to simulating type systems???

Any disadvantages to using this 3200MHz 32GB G.Skill FlareX kit on Z390 boards? I thought it might be useful to have a Ryzen compatible memory kit should I want to upgrade to next gen AMD.

Nice to have the naval Buccaneer for carrier ops and the RAF version that had the laser designator. However I can see the appeal of the Tornado based on it's capability.

Finally hoping to build this thing soon, been so busy with work! What I'm looking for is memory to complement my i7-9700K and GTX1080Ti but I'm not planning to OC the memory initially. Only as the system gets dated would I want a good OC from the memory, I'm looking for modules with Samsung B-Die chips. As a rule of thumb which of the following 32GB 2x16 kits would you guys consider: 3000 CAS16 £250 (non B-Die) 3000 CAS15 £275 (non B-Die) 3000 CAS14 £350 3200 CAS16 £280 (non B-Die) 3200 CAS15 £350 3200 CAS14 £380

I'm looking for a 2x16 32GB 32000MHz kit for my i7-9700K build. Is it worth paying £50 more for CAS 14 vs CAS 15?

I have two english F18 manuals in my DCS2.5-OB, one has November 2018 in the name. Which is the most up to date?

Been busy including a new job so still haven't built this thing! This is what I'm thinking on pulling the trigger on: GREEN = already owned CPU i7-9700K H/S Noctua NH-D15 £78 GPU EVGA GTX 1080Ti FTW3 RAM G.Skill Trident Z 32GB (2x16) 3200MHz CL14-14-14-34 >£400 M/B Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Elite £165 Storage 2X Samsung 860 Evo 500GB £75 + £75 OR 2x Crucial MX500 500GB £62 + £62 OR 1x Crucial MX500 1TB £113 1TB SATA2 HD PSU Corsair RM750x £100 Case Anidees AI8 Full Tower Case £90 Display 27" GSync Compatible IPS??? All comments welcome.

What are the programmed attack parameters? Perhaps a tutorial can iron these details out.

How realistic is this, firing off two expensive missiles with no idea what they are locking on to?

I think 8 physical cores is a better purchase for future proofing. Also the 9600K doesn't seem to have much of an advantage over an 8600K. Initially I was going to go for: 860 Evo 500GB OS + other FS stuff 860 Evo 500GB DCS + X-Plane Alternatively: 860 Evo 250GB OS 860 Evo 1TB all FS stuff

I could put everything a on a 1TB NvMe drive but the price is prohibitive at the moment. Q) So for SATA6 drives, 2x 500Gb vs a 1TB, any advantage?
-
I have come across RAM "T-topology" on Gigabyte Z390 Aorus boards. Q) What difference does this make to the selection of RAM? For a 32GB 3200MHz kit would I be better off with 2x16 or 4x8? Q) What about other Z390 manufacturers? Q) Is T-topology chipset specific?

OK so this is what I'm thinking on pulling the trigger on before Xmas: GREEN = already owned CPU i7-9700K £400 H/S Noctua NH-D15 £80 GPU EVGA GTX 1080Ti FTW3 RAM G.Skill Trident Z 32GB (2x16) 3200MHz CL14-14-14-34 £405 M/B Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Elite £163 Storage Samsung 860 Evo 500GB £72 Samsung 860 Evo 500GB £72 1TB SATA2 HD PSU Corsair RM750x £90 Case Anidees AI8 Full Tower Case £90 Display Acer Predator XB271HU 27" GSync IPS £600 Controllers Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS £110 CH Rudder Pedals TrackIR Other stuff Windows 10 Home Retail £100 X-rite i1 Display Pro monitir calibrator £178 Display Port 1.4 cable 3m £10 = £2370 Q) What do you think? Q) Should I wait until after Xmas (I think I might get a better deal on the Thrustmaster HOTAS)?

Q) Why is the Corsair TX less quality than the RMx when the only difference seems to be that the main power cable is not modular? Q) What makes the Corsair RMx "better" than the Seasonic Focus? In reviews the Sesonic Focus often come out on top (in the end I'll probably just go for the best deal but just wondering).
