  1. For anyone running DCS 2.5 at *1440p* on a Ryzen 1500X, 1600 or 1600X system, what kind of performance are you seeing? Particularly interested in those with GTX1070 or better cards, please say if you're overclocking.
  2. I would expect a more stable memory OC with 2x sticks on a Z370.
  3. And just when I couldn't wait to upgrade my ancient Q9650 system... it's not affected by Meltdown or Spectre (as far as I can tell) :D! Re Meltdown, sounds like Intel selling us ###t over the years because they could! Hope AMD can take advantage of this and offer far more competitive single core performance to rival Intel.
  4. I want to end up with 1.5.8 Final and 2.5 Release. If I wait for Stage 2 am I right in assuming that: 1) Purchased modules will appear in both versions? 2) With both versions installed, when I add another module in the future, it does not matter what version I activate it in I will be able to use it in both (assuming the module is compatible with both)?
  5. I was considering a 1080Ti for my next build but not convinced about the current generation of VR hardware, so I'm looking at the 1070. Would the 1070 be good enough for a multi monitor setup at 1440p in DCS 2.5?
  6. Disclaimer... I know nothing about coding or software development! Ideally I'd like to see not only a more detailed implementation of ECM, but an entire EM environmental model - perhaps an actual module. E.g. it might make possible a sensible implementation of EM pulses from a nuclear weapon. I imagine such an endeavour would be difficult on a commercial platform like DCS. Anyway in principle, does anyone think such an EM environment is possible in DCS?
  7. I found useful when shopping for HOTAS controllers.
  8. Why a quad kit for Z370?
  9. With this upcoming new release will the dev team consider creating default DCS 2.5 graphics driver profiles or at least giving precise guidance on recommended settings to get the most out of contemporary graphics hardware?
  10. That is possible, but I was wondering why the A-10 virtual cockpit did not display the first time I started the sim after it crashed since all I did was close the activation window and let the sim start up?
  11. I prefer modern aircraft like A-10, F18, so ideally would like lots of HOTAS switches. Right now I'd probably go for the Thrustmaster T.16000M stick + throttle set. You pay as premium if you get the throttle separately but it does seem like the best budget HOTAS throttle out there. I already have CH rudder pedals.
  12. Changed display resolution ran A10C, DCS crashed (while I was using TrackIR software). When I restarted DCS A-10C activation window appeared, I closed it, ran A-10C, no virtual cockpit view, closed DCS normally and restarted, now all appears normal, still showing 1/10 activations. Just a crash???
  13. Q1) My choices for HOTAS under about £150, any thoughts on these? £40 Games Power JS285 Flight Control System £90 Thrustmaster T.160000M FCS HOTAS £120 Logitech X52 H.O.T.A.S. £150 Logitech X52 Pro H.O.T.A.S. Q2) What is your own favourite stick and throttle?
  14. Why not have a non weaponised version of the Gazelle which could perform light transport or communication missions. I just don't think many people would buy it seperately. Hmm... perhaps if Polychop (or another developer) were developing a stand alone navigation module, e.g. like the NS430, then it could be bundled with this variant of the Gazelle???
  15. I can find a reference GTX 1080Ti for about £625, so for more £££s will these "other things" make a real difference for DCS (or any other flightsim) FPS? I'm hoping for a good deal on an i5-7600K + Z270 M/B. I'd expect an i7-7700K + GTX 1080Ti system to give a higher CPU OC and a more balanced system, however for DCS (and current flight sims generally) I've seen no evidence that more than 4 physical cores will improve performance. I think I'd rather wait for Zen2 than to go Coffee Lake. Right now I'm not convinced that compared to Kaby Lake, the higher cost, higher OC temps and Intel's ongoing s### heat spreader thermal compound, are worth the extra performance. Why do you suggest i3?
  16. I'm planning on an i5-7600K + 1080Ti for my next build albeit not with unlimited funds! Planning for 1440p and VR. Q) I expect to be CPU limited long before the GPU became a bottleneck, hence I do not need anything more than a reference 1080Ti in DCS - is this reasonable?
  17. Anyone care much about seating in these kinds of smaller aircraft, tandem vs side by side?
  18. Need more details of Zen2 but for what it's worth, I'm starting to steer back to Kaby Lake for my next build. Perfomance of the R5s seem to be more matched to Haswell Refresh particularly with single thread.
  19. Thanks to Silky from a post in another forum for this link.
  20. Does anyone know if current B350 or X350 boards will actually support CPUs with more than 8 cores??? All the boards I've looked at have stated support for up to 8 cores.
  21. F104 killed too may pilots! The Yak38 auto-ejected the pilots! So it's got to be the Su7... best looking in my opinion too.
  22. Really looking forward to the A-29B, just wondering what people think about this light attack aircraft from another era, the A-37? It could also refuel air - air. Perhaps also interesting sitting side by side in multi-player???
  23. Given we're almost into 3Q of 2017, might it be better to wait for Coffee Lake CPUs and see what performance they might offer? E.g. they might have better thermal perfomance.
  24. Have you tried using the Nvidia Inspector utility?
