  1. It was not used in combat by USAF. It was used by US NATO, Asian, and non-aligned nations. Thailand used it in its Air Force, Singapore, Phillipines. Matter of fact many F-5's that appear in 1970's and 1980's Vietnam movies, like Apocalypse Now, were Philippine Air Force, and Royal Thai AF. USAF and Navy , obviously used it as an aggressor DACT aircraft, becouse it could mimic MIG-21. Indonesia may have used it combat during their hostile takeover of East Timor. Swiss used for a long time. As did Malaysia which replaced it with SU-30. In early late 1970's and early '80's US offered it to then ally Pakistan, but Paks insisted on F-16A/B. I heard a rumor even Russians used it, they reverse-engineered captured F-5 from S. Vietnam , and designated it MIG-28. They used it to drive off American F-14A's. That tidbit came last April 1.
  2. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPTyB3DXhJ8[/ame] Couple of clips are really impressive. F-111 in spin departure. The crew pop the drag chute, which stabilized the aircraft in nose down attitude. Then eject cleanly from the aircraft. That is two ballsy aviators. The Ukranian SU-30MK. Spin departure, and recovery a little to late with stall, and grazed the ground just enough to destroy the engines, but enough energy to get altitude in nose up attitude, followed by clean ejection. Mig-29 airshow ingesting a large bird. I think the pilot was Anatoly Kvarchure, and this was in 1989 Air Tattoo, or 1990 Ramstein air show. Big shouout to the ejection seat designers. The guy left the cockpit few hundred feet above ground, and his had time to pop and inflate. The US Navy cold cat shots. You feel for the aviators, being failed by technology tottally out of their controll.
  3. Isn't that for release chute (after deployment)switch cover. I do not see shortcut for deployment button cover.
  4. I am unable to deploy the drag chute. System ignores the shortcut key.
  5. Really really accurate PFM for any currently fielded fighter attack thats not classie I would love a module for any currently fielded 4th gen or 4.5th gen fighter/attack with very accurately reproduced flight model, avionics, sensors, and weapons. That are not classified, so that developers do not have to make guesses or rely on unauthenticated data. Pretty much all Western, Russian, and Chinese air systems are out. Their systems are classified. Perhaps AMX A-1 of Brazilian Air Force. Or export F-16E with export radar and avionics, but that platform is probably loaded with US classified sensor and communication gear.
  6. Human body cannot handle anything over 11. FOR ANY AMOUNT OF TIME that is not of instantaneous duration. Few, vew few, pilots in prime physical condition may handle 9 perhaps 9.5 instantaneous, then GLOC. Fighter pilots are trained for sustained 7-7.5G ACM fight, 6-7G for SAM/AA missile evasion. At 14G pilot will die. He will have either a catastrophic aneurysm in brain, stroke, or catastrophic myocardial infarction (heart attack). The aircraft itself will suffer an airframe failure. Either in the wingbox (strongest part of airframe) or langeron (a box of airframe bulkheads connection cockpit/nose part to wingbox. Engines will probably keep working due to fuel gravity feed and feed tank pressure. Not sure about fuel pumps. Electronics are hardened to resist damage up to instaneous 100G (to survive shock of detonation and kinetic energy absorbtion, of enemy munitions). I am fairly certain that should F-15C or any F-15, enter a 12G condition, and return safely, will probably need an airframe rebuild , or be grounded permantly. Hi G and OverG conditions are highly regulated in nearly all Air Forces. G meter can only be reset by maintenance. Crews are trained in authorized G limits during training and have loosened restrictions during combat and emergencies. To overG is below seriousness of violating Rules OF Engagement, but is still very serious issue. Crews have been grounded and lost flight status. From Government's point of view, over-stressing the airframe is equivalent to damaging government property, and decreasing readiness , as a combat asset is decertified. A crew needs to have adequate explanation. Squadron commanders are held responcible (to a point) for performance of their subordinates. So an overG, if a Class A mishap (damage over one million US dollars), expect the crew and squadron CO, to stand before Wing CO, normally O-6 colonel or BG. Careers are not guaranteed to survive. Thats why Air Forces are looking at unmanned combat system, or tele-manned. Aerospace industry can build a combat aircraft for sustained 9-10G combat performance or more. But not with a human inside. Man is not built for this. One of the highest scoring aces in RAF, in WWII, lost his legs but continued to fly. He could outfight the enemy, at nearly 6G, as he had no legs for blood to pool into.
  7. Now that be a cool sim. A-4 with some F-16C avionics.
  8. Or NASA X-31B TVC
  9. Convert playback to FBX or Alembic for import into Maya, 3DSMAX, Houdini, and anything else that suppourts FBX or Alembic ABC scene date.
  10. 1970's-1980's 3--4 gen terminal Cold War modernized A-4R Fighting Hawk USMC AH-1W with amphibious platform LPD or LHD. 1970's-1980's US Army (Europe) AH-1T(ango) A-7D/E OV-10D/D+
  11. Too lazy to look up so I ask. When does 1.5.X freeze? At what point does 1.5.4 or 1.5.X freeze, becomes golden build? I assume its after NTTR is integrated with it. I suppouse a link to a decent roadmap will do just fine. 1.5.4 is pretty good, I rarely, rarely have crashes. Thank you.
  12. Has anyone here ever exceeded VNE in UH-1H, in level flight below 500m ASL? That would result in retreating blade stall, which may lead to mast bump, which may lead to crash. I am unable to get UH-1H to go faster then 120 knots IAS, in level flight.
  13. Yei! DCS:MIG-28
  14. People are asking for NAS Fallon, 29Palms, ElTorro(closed), Ft. Irwin. Basically the desert areas of SouthWest United States. An area larger then many nations. So why not just licence Google Earth and ED just adds detail?
  15. I don't think its there. NTC Ft. Irwin, USMC MAGWTC 29 Palms, NAS Fallon, and part of Ft. Bliss form a contigious US Government land for ground maneuver and air-ground, and air-air training.
  16. Did not work, and that is not it. It seems that the messed up HUD is in F-15C, A-10A, and A-10C. This is bug in DCD 2.0.2
  17. As soon as DCS updated itself to latest 2.0.2 the HUD in F-15 went a little funny in the head. It is no longer drawn correctly. Its zoomed in and only partially drawn on HUD glass.
  18. Oh DCS I used to love you. But ever since 2.0 alpha and up to most current 2.0.2 , DCS and X55 Rhino have just gotten worse and worse. I have random loss of bindings, and not even creating bindings functions poorly. Press a button, or axis assign is just painfull. It works so badly. DCS registers slooowwwlyy the button or axis. Modifier keys are assigned and are then lost next time DCS is restarted. Restarting the system or waking up machine from sleep, carries the risk of DCS loosing its bindings and presets completely. Loading a saved bindings LUA files is nonfunctional. Binding are loaded, or they are not saved. This situation seriously sucks. Where is QC? I am making all assignments as Administrator.
  19. Well we knew MIG-21 does not with DCS 2.0.2. But that does not make the pain easier to take. Curious how long before 21 is back on the tarmac? Curious what is with 2.0.2 that prevents MIG from working.
  20. Wonder if anyone ever tried to replicate in DCS the RL Israeli AF F-15B flying and landing with one wing. Of course to loose the wing, one would have to have a midair with a wingman. Tried it bunch of time. Total death and destruction every time in DCS.
  21. They are always plugged in, and always into same slots. I have two (that I know off) issues. First is that every update or reboot, the controls get reset. Loading saved LUA settings does not set the controls. Though I am keep remapping and saving LUA file for stick mappings. Second is that, in addition to above, inside DCS options the stick and throttle switch places. Throttle becomes left hand column, and stick column on right. Then either after DCS update or system reboot, they switch back to their correct places. Stick is left column and throttle is right. Sometime later, at random time, they switch again and setting get lost or are not mapped properly anymore. I hate X55, I made peace with it for a while, as my muscle memory built up, and after I took apart the hand grip and drowned servo in silicon grease to take squeaks and stickiness away. But my hate for it never really went away. So I want to beleive that its SAITEK's fault somehow, but I suspect its DCS. I should get rid of it and get Thrustmaster Warthog. But TM Warthog does not have rudder twist (I beleive) , which means I need to get decent rudders. That would run me between 700 and 800 USD, which is more then I wish to spent on an accessory.
  22. Windows 10 64 bit. X55 are connected straight into USB 2 slot. I have USB and USB 3. Black and blue slots. Tried them all. I think its on DCS side.
  23. Why are X55 controls getting reset every time DCS updates or system is rebooted? Every time! After update or reboot, I have to remap for every module. What in the bloody heck is going on here? Reloading saved file does not work.
  24. Looking forward to this module. Looking forward to this module. Now I wonder how Belsimtek, in Belarus, got cooperation of NorthropGrumman. The aircraft is still flown by Indonesia, Malaysia, Philipines, and Thailand. Hopefully one of DCS 3rd party developers or ED themselves make Pacific theater, spanning from SSC to Bering Straight.
