Recommend good books on the F-5? (Kindle/PDF version is a bonus)
DaveRindner replied to Istari6's topic in DCS: F-5E
Warriors (1990) Barrett Tilman. THough it is military fiction, the book had detailed descriptions on tactics (WVR) in F-20 Tigershark. http://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/8282/how-to-fight-to-win-in-the-f-14-a-4-and-f-5-at-the-navys-topgun-school -
BAP-100 does not seem to be available under AI M2KC. Does player M2KC get it?

I am curious why BLU-107/B Durandal (the USAF designation) is unavailable? Anti-runway is critical mission. In any case , I am so gratefull for RAZBAM to be making AV-8B N/A that I plan on purchasing M2000C as a thank you.

Has there ever been or will be CONFIRMED engine modeling?
DaveRindner replied to acdelta57's topic in DCS: UH-1H
The engine is simulated, to sort. EGT is simulated by failiure to start and by fire or smoke in engine bay. In real world Huey's, engine is controlled by governor, with back up governor, and then manual throttle. The sim is same. Too much systems modeling cuts into flight performance and FPS. In this sim, like in real world, the challenge is flying the helicopter, then fighting. -
Were Fleet Air Arm and RAF Harrier IIs homologated with USMC AV-8B+ N/A? I recall that British Harriers had SeaVixen gadget for AIM-120 compatability.

Tactical sea gray is one the greatest inventions ever for tactical aviation. Even in daytime, the aircraft just blends into haze. I dislike gaudy patterns on military aircraft. Vehicle exterior needs to be functional not a fashion statement.

As long VMF-214 Black Sheep, and YMF-213 Flying Nightmares of MAG-13, I am good. Though 213 has been stood down and air-frames transferred to 214.

For WWII DCS, I would love P-61 Black Widow and/or P-38. My favorite WWII designs are all twin engine, twin boom, heavy fighter/attack, with tricycle gear. Single prop tail draggers hold no interest to me. P-61 Black Widow P-38 Lightning What is that? https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=24bLNXU6&id=966DB81F2DC019841CEE1686225114CF1BF2EA5F&thid=OIP.24bLNXU6HHSn5t_FZJ7dnQEsDA&q=Russian+WW2+Twin+Tail+Aircraft&simid=608008065928331393&selectedIndex=0&ajaxhist=0

Similar proposal from Boeing OV-10X https://www.bing.com/images/search?view=detailV2&ccid=086x27FZ&id=EBA1FB7E78DB3D59D2F6A9C5FEEE03A84825B392&thid=OIP.086x27FZp211ROWZAmmywwEsDO&q=OV-10X&simid=608013915700987615&selectedIndex=1&ajaxhist=0 Hi efficiency prop, and precision kill weapons kit.

Expeditionary airfields THose temp strips made out of perforated steel plates , laid down by combat engineers, SEABEES, AF engineers. Random ancillary personel and equipment that go about their business on airfield. AfSec for example. Plane captains to guide you to parking. Follow me truck. Are those still used. Total lights out tactical recovery on forward airfields. Field deployable ILS. Suppourt of airborne infantry drops. Have paratroops exit C-17 and C-130 with canopy deployments. Flyable military version of Pilatus STOL turboprop.

Programme name is OV-10G+ "Combat Dragon" http://www.defensemedianetwork.com/stories/combat-dragon-ii-demonstrates-ov-10g-bronco-capabilities/

I was just entering Army ROTC as Cadet MS1 as last USMC ® OV-10A/D squadrons were deploying for Desert Shield. THey were due to stand down, but then Saddam intervened. I remember, as a kid, watching Marines , on TV, deploy to Lebanon in 1983. I recall then new Sea Grey Broncoes flying around Beirut Airport as Marines and French Paras were taking up positions. After barracks bombing, Broncoes were redeployed , as Navy and Marine A-6 and A-7's were pounding Hizbullah positions in Lebanon, in retaliation. After college in 1993 when as new Army ® 2Lt. in Field Artillery School in Ft. Sill, my primary instructor, Cpt. Stevens USMC, a fantastic Marine officer, had some experience as Broncoe rear seater, as Marine FO/FAC as part of ANGLICO team. He had some very interesting patches on his flight bag.

SU-25T never entered service. Just low initial production test airframes. SU-39 was built in prototype only. 2-3 airframes. There is no rule in DCS against proposed or prototype only aircraft. OV-10D modernized would be a nice addition. Short of A-29 TucanoII. Consider that OV-10D can do almost everything that AH-64D or AH-1W/Z SuperCobra Venom do, except land vertically. But Bronco can land on supershort strips, and can deliver cargo and airborne personell. It can drop a SOC squad via para, or clandestine landing. It is also ridiculously cheap. Airframes in storage have short hours. Tucano is great, but Bronco has two spinning thingies instead of just one.
-
OV-10A Bronco was the only modern military aircraft, then in service, aside fro, Cessna Birddog, that could land on carrier without arrestor gear. Just its breaks.
-
A proposed 21st century Bronco. Basically OV-10 with glass cockpit, sensor pod or sensor suite from AH-1w/Z in a nose turret. DCS could offer OV-10D sim with pod and NVS from A-10C. Weapons are rockets pods, GBU-38 JDAM, MK-82, MK-82HD, Hellfire, .50 BMG or 20mm cannon pod.

Tottaly agree. Someone has really screwed the Russian national dog breed. This is absurd. Mig-21 used to be such a great sim!

I really want SEPECAT Jaguar and AV-8B+, and AH-1W SuperCobra

In RL SEAD in US military aviation is split between F-16C/D, F/A-18C/D/E/F/Growler. As long as the AC can take a HTS (Harm Targeting System), and pylon is cleared for HARM carry, any tactical aircraft become SEAD. IMHO, US and Allied air forces need to invest in new generation ALQ-131 V and/or system that can be installed inside the fuselage, with sensors/emitters. As Israeli F-16I do. Hanging a draggy ECM pod on a hardpoint , that could be used for ext tank, or munition, seems a bit wastefull. F-35 and F/A-22 use their AESA radar as ECM pod. Speaking of AESA, AESA non-stealth equipped AC can use the radar set as ECM, but the set has to has to be looking along the threat vector of incoming SAM.

Thank you RAZBAM you are amazing .. buuuuttt It is awosome that RAZBAM is working on A-7. Great aircraft. But I ask, do we not already have plenty of strike aircraft options. DCS could use more fighter/bomber types , modern 4 gen ACM and AG platform. F-16C/D/E Block 50/52+/60/CCIP, EFM\ASM high fidelity of F-15C, SU-27BM, Mig-29SMT. MIG-29K. I guess ED is working on F/A-18C. Former Leatherneck was working F-14 However if strike aircraft is what DCS needs, then good options would be SEPECAT Jaguar, and A-4M.

Check out "Vertical' magazine. It is a rotary wing industry periodical. One of the important advice from them, is when landing, sometimes on departure, and ALWAYS in hover, is to think as applying pressure to cyclic and collective, and ATR pedals, not full-on raging deflection. For our purpose , sitting behind desk, it is important to arrange the controllers so arms and hands remain comfortable natural position. It does not do ,of having wrists in pain, while holding hover (W/O autoHover).

I tend to agree. Now that 1.5.6 and 2.0.5 DRN has been resolved! Mig21 is now very twitchy, extremely sensitive to roll, and minor PIO. I flattened roll, rudder, and pitch curves to have 3 in deadzone, 10 in curve. Initially I like nimble handling, then found myself with hands full of airplane. Now , not so much. I noticed that as the stick deflects out deadzone, aircraft twitch while rolling, almost like a maximum snap roll. In pitch the same twitchy oversensitive pitch creates small PIO, but makes AG targeting, strafing, and rockets significantly more difficult. Recovery (landing) is now very difficult. As soon as I touchdown, even the smallest rudder deflection, makes aircraft snake on runway, snapping off the main gear, and or tilting the aircraft. Drag chute. refuses to pop-out about in 80% of time. I have not forgotten to zero out gear breaks, so the air pressure is maintained.

One question what is the fidelity of M2KC flight model?
DaveRindner replied to DaveRindner's topic in M-2000
BAP-100, a bit small and old. Why would M2K not carry Matra Durandals. -
One question what is the fidelity of M2KC flight model?
DaveRindner replied to DaveRindner's topic in M-2000
Anti-runway weapon in M2000? Aught, there is no Durandal in DCS. However the anti-runway mission has been largely reasigned to standoff weapons, like JSOW, BK90, and cruise missiles. Modern short range air defenses, preclude any realistic expectation of asset survival when deploying any weapon that requires target overflight. That said, in a simulation, I would not mind having Durandals for M2000, F-16, and F-15E. If we ever get a decent Tornado GR4 module, then JP233 would be cool. I recall back in the day, with my first flight sims, Falcon 3.0, Falcon 4.0, and Jane's F-15E, how fun it was to fly 100 feet on full afterburner, when deploying durandals. -
pcnsl.exe deactivation DOES NOT WORK!

Thank you. My apologies. I was devastated and not myself.
