  1. Here’s a shorter campaign for you to try, if I see evidence (screenshots please) that three players have completed the campaign by midnight UTC on Friday – OK lets make it Sunday - I will donate £100 to the Broughty Ferry Lifeboat Station here on the east coast of Scotland. If six players can finish it I will double the donation. The Broughty Ferry crews are worthy recipients as they fished a Tornado crew out of the North Sea a few weeks ago. And I’m sure that I can trust the virtual pilots on this forum not to do the old Ctrl+SHIFT+D trick. DPS. Here’s the link to the web page: http://www.dpsflight.com/A10OHD.htm Campaign Operation Hot Dog takes place during a fictional war in which you fly a USAF A-10 against a massive onslaught by Russian armour. Operation Hot Dog v1.12a Summer 1995. The Great War of Liberation has entered its 55th year. After a cease-fire lasting almost six weeks, American, British and German ground forces of the Western Allies’ CXVIII Corps are currently well established along a front stretching from Evpatorija in the west to Feodosija in the east. Over the past few days the Russian army in the Crimea has been building up its forces in the region and it now looks highly likely that they will soon launch an attack on our zone. The 7th Allied Tactical Air Force has deployed its A-10 aircraft to their Forward Operating Locations (FOLs) in the Black Sea region. You have arrived in the conflict area with the 23rd Fighter Group and you are leading a flight operating out of its FOL at Khersones Air Base. Should hostilities begin, your main task will be to support allied ground forces close to the front. Mission 1 Close Air Support at Gerojskoe. Day 1. 06:30 Hrs. Two hours ago a massive Russian offensive commenced along the entire length of the front. So far our forces are holding the Russian advance. However, the 33rd Panzerdivision (Falkenberg) is under immense pressure to the west of the village of Gerojskoe and it is likely that the enemy will beak through and reach the town of Ivanovka if the Leopard 2 tanks of Panzerbrigade 54 are overwhelmed. You and your wingman are on the apron at Khersones fully armed and fuelled. Start engines immediately and get airborne and proceed to the Initial Point at (SP2). Your first targets are a group of tanks that have been pinned-down three miles to the north-west of the village. An OA-10A aircraft will mark these targets with smoke rockets. Subsequent targets, mostly Infantry Fighting Vehicles, will be laser designated by ground troops. Your call-sign: Colt 11 Weather is fine, 50 F with sky clear. AWACS unavailable. Home Plate: Khersones Air Base (SP5). Emergency landing field: Belbek Air Base (SP4). Mission 2 On-Call CAS at Lekarstvennoe. Day 1. 10:45 Hrs. You are already airborne with your wingman to provide On-Call Close Air Support as required in the Lekarstvennoe (SP2) area. An OA-10A acting as Forward Air Controller in the Milhajlovka sector has observed Russian armour on the move and it is likely that the enemy will soon be in a position to engage forward units of the German 41st Panzergrenadierdivision (Pankow). Your targets are currently 10 miles north of your present position – engage them immediately. Air cover will be provided by two USAF F-15Cs on CAP just north of Pochtovoe. Your call-sign: Uzi 11 Weather is fine, with scattered cloud at 4,000ft, 50 F. AWACS unavailable. Home Plate: Khersones Air Base (SP4). Emergency landing field: Belbek Air Base (SP3). Mission 3 On-Call CAS at Belogorsk Day 1. 16:30 Hrs. You are already airborne with your wingman to provide On-Call Close Air Support as required in the Krymskaja Roza (SP2) area. Tanks of the US 330th Armoured Battalion are engaged in a fierce battle against advancing Russian armour around the town of Krymskaja Roza. Your targets are currently 15 miles north-west of your present position – engage them immediately. An OA-10A already in the Rusakovka area will act as Forward Air Controller whilst AH-64Ds of the 3154th Attack Squadron will deal with the enemy’s 2S6 and ZSU-23 self-propelled AAA systems. Air cover will be provided by two USAF F-16Cs on CAP overhead Simferopol. Your call-sign: Enfield 11 Weather is fine, with scattered cloud at 3,000ft, 50 F. AWACS unavailable. Home Plate: Khersones Air Base (SP4). Emergency landing field: Belbek Air Base (SP3). Mission 4 On-Call CAS at Krasnokamenka. Day 2. 08:30 Hrs. You are already airborne with your wingman to provide On-Call Close Air Support as required in the Krasnokamenka (SP2) area. Over on the eastern sector, and against very heavy odds, British units of The King’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment have mounted a successful counter-attack on the left flank of the Russian advance and have retaken the town of Staryj Krym. Under heavy tank fire, a MCV-80 Warrior IFV of the Walmington-on-Sea Platoon has taken and held the village of Grushevka. It is vital that we hold on to the village and the high ground it is situated on. Our ground troops will be able to laser designate hostile forces for you. Your targets are currently 10 miles west of your present position – engage them immediately. Air cover will be provided by two German Air Force F-4Es of Jagdgeschwader 563 “Kopenick” on CAP overhead Belaja Skala. Your call-sign: Springfield 11 Weather is fine, with scattered cloud at 2,000ft, 50 F. AWACS unavailable. Home Plate: Khersones Air Base (SP4). Emergency landing field: Belbek Air Base (SP3).
  2. And here's the Lifeboat story.... 'Remarkable' escape in jet crash Two crewmen who ejected from their aircraft moments before it plunged into the North Sea had a "remarkable escape", the RAF has said…….. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/4344460.stm
  3. The German Air Force elite all-female Jagdgeschwader 174 “Kreuzberg", lead by the renowned fighter ace Oberstleutnant Élise von Krieg (353 kills) and her wingman Oberleutnant Anke Volltreffer put in an appearance in Mission 3 BARCAP at the SivashRiver - but don't tangle with them - they will kill you!!

  5. Here’s your chance to get back at the German Air Force elite all-female Jagdgeschwader 174 “Kreuzberg" – although if you want to complete this campaign my advice is to keep well clear of them. Just to see how good you are, if I see evidence (screenshots please) that three players have completed the campaign within 78 hours of this post, I will donate £100 to the Broughty Ferry Lifeboat Station here on the east coast of Scotland. If six players can finish it I will double the donation. The Broughty Ferry crew are worthy recipients as they fished a Tornado crew out of the North Sea a few weeks ago. And I’m sure that I can trust the virtual pilots on this forum not to do the old Ctrl+SHIFT+D trick. Here’s the link to the web page: http://www.dpsflight.com/Su27OCav.htm Operation Caviar Summer 1996. The Great Patriotic War has entered its 56th year and the Western Allies are threatening to overrun the Crimea . American and German forces are established along a front stretching from Schebetovka in the south-east to Krasnoperekopsk in the north-west. Our valiant 12th Armoured Brigade, spearheaded by the heroic tank crews of the 153rd Armoured Division, has launched a massive offensive against the bourgeois forces of the US/German CXVIII Corps. You are to lead a flight of Russian Federation Air Force (VVS) Su-27 fighters from the 1054th Fighter Aviation Regiment flying from Kerch-Bagerovo Air Base. Your main task will be to provide air cover for our CAS missions over the battlefield. Mission 1 Escort Day 1, 09:30 Hrs. You and the rest of your flight are ready to start engines and depart on your first mission. Follow the pre-programmed route and then make full use of the AWACS data link to deal with the enemy aircraft that have been attacking our Su-17s and helicopters over the battlefield. Weather fine with scattered cloud at 1000 metres. Temperature 20 deg. An A-50 AWACS is on station over the Sea of Azov . Mission 2 BARCAP at Leninskoe Day 1, 16:45 Hrs. This mission starts with you already flying a BARCAP at 4,000 metres over Leninskoe. It has been over 12 hours since the 12th Armoured Brigade engaged the enemy and we still haven’t gained air superiority. German Air Force Tornadoes of Jagdbombergeschwader 311 “Neukölln” have been attacking our armour with impunity and the offensive is losing its momentum. You must ensure that no enemy aircraft penetrate north of Leninskoe. Weather fine with scattered cloud at 1,500 metres. Temperature 20 deg. An A-50 AWACS is on station over the Sea of Azov . Mission 3 BARCAP at the Sivash River Day 2, 09:50 Hrs. This mission starts with you already flying a BARCAP at 5,000 metres over the Sivash River . The left flank of the German 33rd Panzerdivision (Falkenberg) has collapsed and our forces are poised to retake the town of Vinogradovo . Our Early Warning Radar at Marfovka has detected three groups of bandits crossing the coast at Sudak heading towards the Evpatorija sector. You must intercept and destroy these enemy aircraft. Be advised, the German Air Force elite all-female Jagdgeschwader 174 “Kreuzberg", lead by the renowned fighter ace Oberstleutnant Élise von Krieg (353 kills) and her wingman Oberleutnant Anke Volltreffer has been patrolling over the Bay of Kalamita . Weather fine with scattered cloud at 1,000 metres. Temperature 15 deg. An A-50 AWACS is on station over the Gulf of Karkinitsk . Mission 4 CAP at Aleksandrovka Day 2, 16:45 Hrs. This mission starts with you already flying a CAP at 4,000 metres over Aleksandrovka. Two hours ago a signal from US Military Intelligence at Oxymoronlovovka was intercepted indicating that the 7th Allied Tactical Air Force had deployed to its Forward Operating Location at Belbek Air Base. So the AWACS aircraft should soon have lots of trade for you. Weather fine with scattered cloud at 1,500 metres. Temperature 20 deg. An A-50 AWACS is on station over the Sea of Azov . Mission 5 TARCAP at Krasnyj Partizan Day 3, 11:50 Hrs. This mission starts with you already flying a TARCAP at 4,000 metres over Krasnyj Partizan. Su-17s of 1060 th Attack Regiment have been tasked to attack American self-propelled artillery that has just been spotted 30 kilometres south-west of the town. Engage any enemy aircraft that approach your TARCAP location. Weather fine with scattered cloud at 1000 metres. Temperature 20 deg. An A-50 AWACS is on station north-west of Feodosija. Mission 6 Air Strike at Oxymoronlovovka Day 3, 15:30 Hrs. This morning’s mission by the 1060 th Attack Regiment didn’t go well and the unit is now effectively non-operational. We have now established the location of the Command and Control centre at Oxymoronlovovka (SP4) and it is now up to you to destroy it with FAB-500 bombs. Follow the pre-programmed route and arrive at the target at 16:00 Hrs. Spetsnaz troops will mark the target area with rockets. Two Su-27s will provide an escort for you. Weather fine with scattered cloud at 1000 metres. Temperature 25 deg. AWACS not available. Mission 7 TARCAP at Simferopol Day 4, 09:50 Hrs. This mission starts with you already flying a TARCAP at 4,000 metres over Simferopol. A pair of Su-25Ts from 9368th Shturmovik Aviation Regiment have been tasked to attack German armour in the town at 10:00 Hrs. You are to ensure that the Su-25Ts are able to complete their task without being intercepted by enemy fighters. The mission will be considered a failure if the Su-25Ts are unable to destroy their targets. Weather fine with scattered cloud at 1000 metres. Temperature 20 deg. An A-50 AWACS is on station north-west of Krasnoperekopsk. Mission 8 BARCAP at Belogorsk Day 4, 16:45 Hrs. This mission starts with you already flying a BARCAP at 4,000 metres over Belogorsk. On the ground, the CXVIII Corps is in full retreat and only the 41st Panzergrenadierdivision (Pankow) and a few American units stand between us and the town of Simferopol . Our Early Warning Radar at Marfovka has detected several groups of enemy aircraft heading your way. It is vital that they are destroyed before they can interfere with our advance. MiG-29Ss of the 120 th Guards Regiment have already been scrambled to intercept them. Don’t leave the BARCAP until the bandits are within 120 Km of your current location. Weather: Sky clear with unlimited visibility. Temperature 13 deg. AWACS not available.
  6. For those of you who completed Operation Thunderclap and enjoyed the challenge of flying against the all-female Jagdgeschwader 174 “Kreuzberg", another campaign, this time featuring the Su-27 is almost ready. I got some quite good feedback off the last one so this time I’m trying to figure out some way of offering a small cash prize for the first person to complete it – any thoughts on financial award for LOMAC fans from the developers? The new mission was built in v1.11. I’ve just patched up to v1.12a for my next effort which will be for the A-10 players.
  7. Thanks again for your help. I'll hopefully have the web site finished (with some Russian) next week. I've already got lots of Su-27/33, A-10 and F-15 campaigns to share - but no Su-25 missions (I've never had enough time to learn anything about this aircraft). As I have lots of extra bandwidth I'd be more than happy to host any Su-25 Campaigns.
  8. Great effort by the Russians. Thank you very much. I've now been inspired to add a Russian page to my new web site. How would you say...... Welcome to DPS Click on the flag to enter the site Su-33 Training Pages v1.02 Lock On Campaigns v1.02 to v1.11 Threat Warning System ..........in Russian?
  9. Excellent work by the contributers to the Russian forum. I'm looking forward to using your translation for German Air Force in my next campaign. MANPAD is the word we would use for your SA-16 (Igla) missile launcher (NATO codename Gimlet). On-Call CAS is something A-10s, Su-25s and F-16s would do: circle near the battlefield whilst waiting for a soldier on the ground to give them a target to attack. Recover is the term used for aircraft landing back on the deck of an aircraft carrier.
  10. Here’s an interesting project (I’m beginning to regret having started) to produce a directory of English, French and German military expressions connected with Lock On. 12. How would you say this in Russian Operation Thunderclap Summer 1996. The Great Patriotic War has entered its 56th year and the Western Allies are threatening to overrun the Crimea. American and German forces are established along a front stretching from Schebetovka in the south-east to Krasnoperekopsk in the north-west. After a cease-fire lasting almost six months, hostilities have flared up again after the Ukrainian army switched sides and joined the Western Allies. A Russian Navy task force lead by the carrier Kuznetsov has now found itself trapped in the port of Suhumi and must now make a dash for the Bosporus Straights in order to reach the safety of the Russian Mediterranean Fleet. The aim of Operation Thunderclap is to protect the carrier as it attempts to cross the Black Sea over the next 48 hours. You are to lead the Russian Navy’s 279th Shipborne Fighter Aviation Regiment (KIAP) 1st Squadron flying Su-33s from the carrier Kuznetsov. Mission 1 Embarkation Day 1, 10:00 Hrs. The carrier Kuznetsov, cruiser Moscow and the frigate Neustrashimy are about to depart from the port of Suhumi. You and you wingman are currently ashore at Gelendzhik Air Base and are about to start engines and rejoin the Kuznetsov in the eastern Black Sea. Our Early Warning Radar at Kievskoe has detected two groups of bandits crossing the coast at Schebetovka heading towards the Gelendzhik sector. You must intercept and destroy these enemy aircraft. Weather fine with scattered cloud at 600 metres. Temperature 20 deg. Tanker and AWACS not available. Mission 2 Anti-Ship Strike Day 1, 14:35 Hrs. A Tu-95 reconnaissance aircraft has spotted an enemy submarine, possibly the USS Charles Cornwallis, on the surface 280 Km west of the task force. A Ukrainian navy submarine depot ship is also in the same area so it is possible that the submarine is disabled. A pair of 279th KIAP 2nd Squadron Su-33s are already on their way to attack the enemy vessels. However, the USS Oliver Perry, which had until now been just inside neutral Turkish waters, is steaming towards the submarine and will soon have the 2 nd Squadron Su-33s within its missile engagement zone. Your and your wingman have been loaded with Kh-41 Air-to-Surface missiles and are on the deck of the Kuznetsov. The missile launch point should be close to SP2 on your pre-programmed route. Launch immediately and sink the USS Oliver Perry. The mission will not be considered a success unless all three vessels are destroyed. Weather fine with scattered cloud at 600 metres. Temperature 20 deg. Tanker and AWACS not available. Mission 3 Intercept Day 1, 22:30 Hrs. Further enemy vessels have been detected off the coast of Turkey so the Kuznetsov and her escorts have changed course to the north-west towards the southern tip of the Crimean peninsular. The Kuznetsov’s radar has just picked up returns from a contact, possibly a US Navy S-3A anti-submarine aircraft, ahead of the task force. Take-off immediately and shoot it down. Be advised, the German Air Force elite all-female Jagdgeschwader 174 “Kreuzberg", lead by the renowned fighter ace Oberstleutnant Élise von Krieg (353 kills) and her wingman Oberleutnant Anke Volltreffer has been patrolling over the Bay of Kalamita. Weather: Fog with visibility down to 300 metres. Temperature 10 deg. Tanker and AWACS not available. Mission 4 Sailing Close to the Wind Day 2, 06:10 Hrs. Just as it looked as though we would be able to sail past the southern tip of the Crimean peninsular unnoticed the fog has cleared and the task force is now in clear view of the enemy. At first light one of 1st Squadron’s Su-33s was launched to carry out a reconnaissance flight. It has just observed four 130mm A-222 Bereg guns being set up in and around the town of Jalta . You and your wingman are to launch immediately and destroy the guns. The enemy will be able to fire on the Kuznetsov within the next 15 minutes so it is vital that you complete the mission as quickly as possible. Weather: Sky clear with unlimited visibility. Temperature 13 deg. Tanker and AWACS not available. Mission 5 Airfield Attack Day 2, 13:00 Hrs. Our colleagues in the Air Force have finally got their act together and an A-50 AWACS aircraft is in the air over the Gulf of Karkinitsk and other Aviation Regiments are arriving in the Black Sea region. Two hours ago a reconnaissance flight observed that enemy aircraft had arrived to reinforce Belbek Air Base. These units could well be used to strike our task force as it leaves the Black Sea. You have been loaded out for an airfield strike. As soon as the Kuznetsov turns into wind get airborne and arrive at the target area at 13:25 Hrs. Su-25Ts from the 9465th Shturmovik Aviation Regiment have just arrived at Dzhankoy AB and as soon as they have rearmed they will take-off and attack the Hawk SAM site at Beregovoe that is defending the target area. There are a dozen enemy fighters and transports scattered around BelbekAB for you to destroy. Recover to the Kuznetsov at 14:20 Hrs. Weather: Strong south-easterly wind 25m/s. Sky clear with unlimited visibility. Temperature 18 deg. An AWACS will be on station 100Km south of Odessa at 7000 metres. Tanker not available. Tip: As soon as you launch from the carrier commence a gentle left turn as your wingman clearly has problems with the windy conditions!! Mission 6 Dardanelles Dash Day 2, 19:45 Hrs. An A-50 AWACS aircraft on station 100Km west of CapeTarkhankut has detected enemy aircraft, possibly F/A-18s, getting airborne from KhersonesAB and ConstantaAB in Romania. Two of our Su-33s are already on their way to deal with the enemy aircraft approaching from the north-west. As soon as the Kuznetsov turns into wind get airborne and intercept the group that is forming up overhead Khersones. Recover to the Kuznetsov at 21:20 Hrs. Weather fine with scattered cloud at 700 metres. Southerly wind 15m/s. Temperature 16 deg. Tanker not available. Well, that's the story line. Most Russians that I've met have had a pretty good command of the English language, so I guess they will understand most of that. Enjoy. DPS.

DPS.
  16. I usually create pilot names to keep track of stats when I'm campaign building. Some endure for weeks and weeks; others don't last too long. This guy got taken out by his wingman.
  17. That's more Russian than I know. I'd be interested to learn if any of the members over on the Russian forum have tried my campaigns. Perhaps someone who can parler the lingo could ask over on the cyrillic pages.
  18. Su-30 might well be Slot Back like the 27 & 33. Had a look for Su-34 but no luck, just a reference to the Leninets V004 phased-array radar at Wiki and the mention of a 'massage function in the K-36 ejector seats'. Time was when sitting on your parachute was considered the height of comfort. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Su-34
  19. No problem.....and for everyone else it's Motherland.
  20. It's 1.11 so that the F-15 fans can add their kites and still get full benefit from their RWR - heard that it was u/s in v1.12 with ghost spikes, etc. I'm off to pre-flight my Su-27; got some business to do with US Military Intelligence down at Oxymoronlovovka!!
  21. And here it is http://www.the-eighth-art.com/Su33OT.htm DPS.
  22. I've produced a new six mission Su-33 campaign for Flaming Cliffs v1.11. Click below to find all the info and the link to download the zip file. http://www.the-eighth-art.com/Su33OT.htm There is also a link to pages with French and German text for all you non-english speakers out there. I’ve made a point of not hiding objects, and every mission is easily editable. If you want to remove weather effects, etc, declassify with Ctrl+SHIFT+D and enter password: Motherland. Operation Thunderclap takes place during a fictional war in which you fly a Russian Naval Aviation (AV-MF) Su-33 against US and German adversaries. Operation Thunderclap Summer 1996. 23. There are a couple of Flanker campaigns on my web site http://www.the-eighth-art.com/8thArtCamList.htm Have a go at Operation Cardigan. If you want to edit it to your own requirements just declassify with password: Motherland. There are no hidden nasties. If you find that Mission 2 is a bit heavy on your frame rates just remove the Light Brigade.
  24. Should be up on my web site within the next 18 hours. Just got to check some objects and finish the French text. If someone could quickly produce some scenery for the Dardanelles it would help.
