GA, if you are looking for a story, how about lifting one from real life. There are lots of accounts of modern jet-on-jet engagements from the IDF. You may have to transpose them from Israel/Arab to US/Russia but there are plenty of ripping yarns out there waiting to be told. I built an Su-33 campaign for Lock On a while back called Operation Thunderclap which ‘borrowed’ heavily from a WWII action in the English Channel. It seemed to work for the players. And how about adding elements of humour? Admittedly, some jokes might not cross language barriers too well, but irony and references to movies are frequently picked up by viewers.

As expected, the usual fantastic editing and effects. The final result looks great. And as usual Lock On wins hands down for the ‘look’ of the simulated world at low level; I was especially impressed by the early sequence as you slowly panned around the tower blocks. Poko24 is quite right about the ‘tight environment’ for movie making in this sim; it’s very hard to get away from the ‘jets chasing jets’ theme. But anyway, keep up the good work. This movie is definitely a keeper, if not for its content/narrative then for its look and sound.

Streaming sites are great for previews so folk can decide whether or not they want to bother downloading the full version. You might need to fork out some cash and pay for hosting your movies. Lock On's graphics deserve to been seen in a nice easy to d/l good res format like WMV so the whole world can enjoy it. Liked the narration on your video, but might benefit from subtitles for our Russian friends.

Good point, Typan. And it looks as though the modders have a new tool from ED to do just that according to the main forum.

The start of a revolution for LOMAC??

Looks like I will have to cross a modders palm with silver in exchange for a nicer looking Tornado, or even a Jaguar GR3. -
Here's a very short vid (1:41). It's really pitched at the FS9 crowd, but as more than 50% of it uses Lock On graphics you might like it. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7688471286387303200

Thanks, DPS.

Fisrt Falcon for FSX review for all that is interested
DPS replied to Atomic978's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I've had some of Aerosoft's payware in the past and it's all been of a fairly high standard so it will be interesting to see how the F-16 turns out. However, air combat in MSFS has always been hopeless, unless you really want to fire photon torpedoes at well known landmards! -
Thanks for that post, Yamangman, I nearly missed that bit of news. I heard a while back that even once it is airworthy again it will still cost £1,000,000 a year to operate. Hope the sponsors have deep pockets.

Yes, Through Deck Cruisers. Not unlike the Kuznetzov in certain respects. There is one docked in Rosyth Naval Dock Yard, near Edinburgh at this very moment (well it was yesterday). Not sure which one though.

I've still got a chip on my shoulder about the lack of British presence in Lock On so here's a short movie to make the players from this sceptred isle feel a bit better. http://www.dpsflight.com/BattleOfBremen.wmv If you can't bear the IL2 stuff there's a glorious RAF fly past 3:18 into the video. Hopefully, the Tornado will look better in future versions of Lock On.

Привет всем в России! Предлагаю вашему вниманию небольшой фильм о СУ-33. http://www.dpsflight.com/Su33Autopilot_0001.wmv DPS.

Perhaps in future versions we will get a pitching/rolling/slippery flight deck.

Thanks for the video, Force Feedback. If Colt40Five needs SEAD he will have to get another unit to do it. Still makes for interesting campaigns though, as the Su-33 will have to arrive in the target area on time - too early and the enemy's SAMs will get you.
-
Looks as though ED have given the Su-33 the world's ultimate in autoland capability. Take a look at this video: http://www.dpsflight.com/Su33Autopilot_0001.wmv 55 seconds into the movie the pilot departs the aircraft - which goes on to land on the carrier all by itself. Fantastic.

Уточняю. Сколько времени потребовалось бы группе разработчиков для того, чтобы создать модель самолета МИГ-21 для Lock On с моделью 3D, кабиной, авионикой и летающей моделью? DPS.
-
Engineers, administrators, etc, salaries, rent, promo costs - and all the rest. Still, will be interested in seeing how it all ends up.

К разработчикам Lock On. Сколько времени занимает создание таких самолетов для игры как МИГ - 29 или А - 10? DPS.

Fans of RAF jet bombers may be interested to read that organisers of a project to return a Vulcan bomber to the skies have said it could come to an end due to a funding shortfall. Here's a link to the story http://www.bbc.co.uk/leicester/aroundleicester/facts/facts5.shtml There's also a nice video on the BBC web site showing various versions of the Cold War/Falklands War veteran. Seem to remember that there was a fine FS2004 Vulcan add-on (capable of air-to-air refuelling) available, with some of the proceeds going to the XH558 project.

BRD, correct answer. Someone tried to tell me that the Kh-65 was named after Superman's earthly moniker, which I didn't believe for a minute.
-
Here’s a little tongue-in-cheek video I put together last week. Three minutes of chasing cruise missiles and flying bombs. No special effects; just Lock On in the raw. What’s the connection between the Russian Kh-65 cruise missile and the English county? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6168471117759360292[/url] And here's the quality version on my web site: http://www.dpsflight.com/CruiseMissiles_0001.wmv DPS.

Nice shots, LaRata. Uebung macht den Meister as I think they say. I noticed that the Kh-65 flies at a constant IAS all the way to the target, I would guess that that is fairly prototypical for a jet. The V-1 in IL2 behaves more like a rocket; accelerating all they way as it burns fuel and gets lighter

I'll send a copy up to Google Video, although you won't be able to make out much with their resolution.
-
Great find, Starlight. That's the Su-33 that went in when the Russian Navy was exercising off Shetland, UK last year, right?
-
Shooting down cruise missiles, such as the Kh-65, in game is fairly easy using homing missiles – but has anyone managed it with cannon fire? The missile’s small profile doesn’t help either. Here’s a very short video of me not getting a result: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6168471117759360292 And here's the quality version on my web site: http://www.dpsflight.com/CruiseMissiles_0001.wmv
