  1. I built a mission including Gelendzhik a while back with a south-west wind. A flight of AI MiG-29s intercepted the 22 ILS (and yes, there is one) about eight miles out and flew in unison into the northern slope of the ridge on the approach. The F-16 was very kind to me and the gear survived the arrival (only just). FS2004 and F4AF frequently have auto-gen buildings pop up very close to short finals, although add-on scenery packages can be used to remove them.
  2. Here’s a little something I just threw together in Windows Movie Maker – and it’s only 2 minutes long. It features very challenging approaches, due to terrain and obstructions, into Gelendzhik (F-15C), Grottaglie (F16C) and Innsbruck (Boeing 727-200). http://www.dpsflight.com/Challenging%20Approaches_0001.zip Here's the Google Video version to save you the DL. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4851476487947214668 WARNING. This video contains scenes of Yodelling which some viewers may find upsetting. DPS.
  3. As they say: good things come in small packages. And it makes hosting and downloading easier.
  4. Six days effort! Well done. These guys deserve a medal. Must buy Vegas.
  5. Excellent video. Looks like you put a lot of time and effort into the project. What sort of editor did you use? I liked the shuddering effect in the close up with reheat. Bombing vehicles: I found one way to improve the Lock On smoke effect is to set the surface wind to max. That way you don't get those odd little plumes rising above the target as it burns. I'd quite forgotten the object rotation (F2 SHIFT Esc) command. Must read the keystrokes manual again. Anyway, good work. 10/10.
  6. About 3 minutes into this BVR video http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1040692412108441424 an enemy F-4 fired a missile at me from about 2 miles (things don't always work out as planned). You can see that the result of pulling-up with the missile in my 3 o'clock and firing off some chaff/flares saved the day.
  7. Voice-over artists in redundancy scare!! I'm trying to persuade the boffins at my local University to produce a version with a hoity-toity RAF Wing Commander accent with just the hint of a West Sussex accent. No response yet. Not to worry, my next project will have a Russian voice (human) with German sub-titles ....... it's been a while since I offended our Germanic chums. English language HUD: obviously the export version for the soon to be formed Scottish Air Force. I'm sort of stuck in a Windows Movie Maker rut at the moment: it's easy to use and everyone I know can play them. I've recently had two folk convert to the Lock On cause having seen my movies. And I enjoy making them.
  8. Here’s a video that may be of use to players new to Su-27 Long-Range/BVR engagements: http://www.dpsflight.com/Su-27%20&%20R-27ER_0001.wmv If you want to try your hand at the engagement here’s the ZIP file: http://www.dpsflight.com/Su-27%20&%20R-27ER.zip DPS.
  9. Perhaps best not to follow my advice on the choice of music too closely. I've been shot down in flames more than once because of the score that I've put on my videos. Here are some examples: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8104958058037934000 It's all a matter of taste really. Can't please all of the people all of the time. Good use of Vegas as you haven't been tempted to use too many effects. I like a Lock On video that looks like Lock On.
  10. Pretty good for a first effort - and you can never beat up too many runways! What sort of editor did you use? The frame-in-frame shots would work well in training videos. The choice of music was perhaps a little weak for the subject; a driving rock theme might have worked better. Now were's my Extreme Noise Terror album!
  11. Nice video, although it's a pitty the pilot didn't have a smarter set of wheels such as a TVR Tamora (Russian owned, British built and designed). Should be included in LOBS instead of the VAZ-2109.
  12. Here's the WMV version of the OA-10A FACer doing his stuff with the F-16s http://www.dpsflight.com/F16CAS_0001.wmv You can pick out the ground targets from from the FACers cockpit.
  13. Let’s imagine that sometime in the future that Lock On and Falcon 4 Allied Force get together, fall in love, get married and produce a child. I like to think that their progeny would look something like this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1885704161729096510 DPS.
  14. Ja, die zweite ist eine falsche Spur!!
  15. Glad you like it. There are a few errors to be corrected: The 'Maverick' call should of course be 'Rifle' as WhiskeyRomeo spotted straight away. And there are a couple of unusual mispronunciations by the FACer: 'Absink' should of course be Abinsk, and 'Slovaski' should have been read as Salivaskoe.
  16. WR, you are quite right. I should have used 'Rifle!!' Also Zipper 11 couldn't pronounce 'Abinsk' - but I didn't like to correct her! Thanks Ruggbutt, I will PM the URL for the 'quality' version to you right now. Enjoy. DPS.
  18. Here’s a single mission for the A-10 using the nine-line brief method. For those of you who don’t have a fellow player to act as Forward Air Controller there is also a WAV file in the zip that you can play at the start of the mission – or you can just cut/paste/print the brief. http://www.dpsflight.com/A10MissionCASMerchanskoe.htm I’ve also made a video of the mission http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8104958058037934000 which contains a lesson on how to use the AGM-65K. It is probably like teaching some of you old hands how to suck eggs but it might be of interest to new players to Lock On. Enjoy the mission. By the way your Target Identification System is playing up. DPS.
  19. I've just put this video up to Google Video for A-10 fans: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8104958058037934000 The HUD is a bit hard to read, but I will put the good quality WMV version (and the mission file for anyone who wants to fly it) up to my web site when my bandwidth allowance recovers.
  20. Yes, the F4AF campaigns are pretty good. Perhaps I should have pressed on with the couple of them that I tried. Did you ever notice some unusual/non-standard R/T when the RAF Jaguars were on freq? But nearly as worth listening to as the Aussie pilots in Pacific Fighters! Now, they were good. I seem to recall that on a few of the later missions I arrived at the IP bang on time only to find that my target had already been destroyed. I ended up turning myself into a FACer and directing the rest of my flight to attack some unfortunate supply or engineering unit – admittedly, something we can’t really do in FC. F4AF graphics: I always had to use the ‘labels on’ option to do the above FAC stuff. “Cowboy 33, Cowboy 31. Attack label in my 10 o’clock range 4 miles”….Roger, Cowboy 33. Attacking now…..running in ……. Maverick!!....label destroyed!”.
  21. Since Lock On came out a dynamic campaign seems to have become a Holy Grail of the community. I’m not such a big fan of them. I tried a couple in F4AF: Day 1 was excellent, Day 2 pretty good, Day 3 not bad…..by Day 5 not a lot was happening. Pacific Fighters was excellent in terms of realism. But my over use of sim acceleration on those long, long range missions invariably ended in grief. Hopefully, BS will be more akin to those IL-2 Sturmovik Ost Front campaigns with action guaranteed within a couple of minutes of take-off, or sooner. But there again, that’s another CD that is gathering dust. I’d be happy just to see some more campaigns built by other players.
  22. If any of you have FS2004 you may be interested in this http://www.fs2004.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=78837 Unfortunately, no combat options, but the objects do look pretty good........although those steps don't really go with the F-18.
  23. Yes, just 1 Euro per plane. I've no idea what happened to all those Volksarmee Su-17s. Perhaps they are all Coke cans now.
  24. Nice screenshot, 666th. In fact the shallow fog makes the runway approach/edge lights look just right - they tend to be a bit too bright (from all angles) in clear conditions. Here's a shot I took of some unusual lights in the sky (no effects used). It looks like the sun is low down close to the horizon although it was close to midday. Odd, but looks nice anyway. I also captured this, which looks like a 20KT airburst over Simferopol.
  25. I'm sure it does - unless it has sold them. Question: How much did the Polish Air Force pay (per unit) for those Luftwaffe MiG-29s?
