  1. It's an interesting fact that you've just brought up; I wasn't sure of this myself. I remember reading the "true airspeed" part in a very early Belsimtek draft (I obviously haven't read the official manual since it wasn't written at the time I made this guide), but it could've easily have been changed by now. I just double-checked and the real F-86 flight manual states that it's an indicated airspeed like you say, so I made the necessary corrections and uploaded a new version.
  2. Yes, quite a useful resource. I used some of these wiki sections myself.
  3. Cibit is right in that regard: the folks in the 229th taught me how to fly the Huey from rock bottom and most of what I know comes from their patient teachings.
  4. A french friend of mine will never admit that something is true, he will say that "it's not false" (non, mais, c'est pas faux, hein?!). :D
  5. In my experience the Mi-8 is slightly more forgiving flight-model wise since it has a lot of excess power in comparison to the Huey. But both helicopters have their own sets of challenges to take into account. In all honesty I'd get them both: the UH-1 and the Mi-8 both surpass the vast majority of helicopters FSX and Arma have to offer in every aspect. The Huey and Mi-8 can be used together in joint operations. Multiplayer is a real blast with either machine. [ame] [/ame]
  6. Au contraire, my friend. If you look at the "WEAPONS" chapter, you will see that you can install 6 weapon pods ranging from bombs, various guns, grenade launchers, rocket launchers... the Mi-8 has plenty of firepower. It just doesn't have side-guns like the Huey. It doesn't make it any less capable.
  7. Yes, absolutely. I recommend you check this if you have doubts http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=144126&highlight=chuck
  8. 2 weeks? Sorry, couldn't help it :) I just need to spend some time being physically at home... which is hard to find at the moment.
  9. I wished I could attend but I'll be out of the country that day... :( I'll be there in spirit.
  10. I think you misspelled "training".
  11. About these manuals... If you think they're long to read, then you don't wanna know how long it takes to write them.
  12. My sympathies to his family, friends and loved ones. He sure was a great lad!
  13. Absolutely. I don't have the time at the moment, but when I find it I'll update the guide pronto.
  14. Hi everyone, I've been trying for a while now to do some air-to-air refueling with the Mirage and I am realizing that I am having some trouble with doing precise movements. I either steer too much or not enough to "catch" the basket with my probe... I was wondering... what curves do you use on your joystick? Have you got any particular presets that might be useful for such a daunting task and a-2-a refueling? Thanks in advance, Chuck
  15. His voice does sound awfully familiar though ;)
  16. Bingo, that's it! It's a bug, but only in the russian (I mean... czech) cockpit. If you have the same issue, in "Special" options menu, set the cockpit language to English.
  17. Touché, Rob... Way to steal my thunder!
  18. L-39C mirror is fine, but I have this missing texture for the L-39ZA. I uninstalled and re-installed the module in 1.5.3, I still have the problem.
  19. I hate to be that guy... but it's "JSGME" (Jonesoft Generic Mod Enabler). :D
  20. Bingo.
  21. Has this fix been implemented in the current version? I was having issues with rearming in multiplayer the other day... the chaff/flare quantity would always put a garbled number when using the sliders on the rearming interface.
  22. Hi guys, I tried use the Audio Warning Silence switch (right next to the Emergency Hydraulic switch, front right console) to mute the audio warning sounds when you turn the battery on, but it seems that it has no effect (and has three positions?). Am I missing something?
  23. Thanks, Ramsey. I'll do a major update for this guide (I already have a list of things I want to add) once Air-to-Air refueling is fully functional and once UNI (INS) system is fully modeled.
  24. Personally I think NTTR has grown on me. McCarran International Airport and Nellis AFB are huge airfields in comparison to the airfields we get in Georgia. I think it's a very good training map/tool. Some people don't like training (some people don't like trainers too), but some virtual squadrons do. I like training: it's just so easy to lose what you learned. I practice regularly on NTTR bomb and rocket strikes with different aircraft and I enjoy it every time.
  25. This post has absolutely zero relevance with the topic at hand.
