  1. Well, someone is going to have to find out the real procedure because I'm seeing two contradicting versions here.
  2. Fixed, thanks!
  3. Hi folks! Anyone remembers these Airmobile events we used to have? http://www.mudspike.com/dcs-world-airmobile-assault-mp-event/ [ame] [/ame] Yes, THOSE ones. :music_whistling: For those of you that remember the first two events (Operation Triple-A and Fall of Hercules), I thought that we could have a third one to celebrate the new Gazelle hitting the DCS shelves. Based on the lessons learned from last time, the scale and scope would be smaller (I'm thinking about 12-16 players tops... last time we had 32 which was clearly too much) and the complexity of the mission would be minimal and the objectives reasonably achievable. The Gazelle and Huey (and maybe the Mi-8 ) would take the spotlight and different units will have to work closely together to succeed the mission objective. So what do you guys think?
  4. Aye, you even taught me! I still remember that lesson about the 5-ft hover ;)
  5. Full right pedal might just send you spinning around. If you need to stay centered, I would advise very light pedal just to make sure the slip ball is centered. At "high" airspeeds (above 100 km/h) the helicopter remains fairly straight without requiring much pedal input. However, this takes into account that you do not have a nasty crosswind throwing you left or right (which is why I specificy: approach facing nose into the wind).
  6. Thanks! As always, if you see any mistakes or inconsistencies please let me know. I am also open to suggestions to improve the guide based on your feedback and ideas.
  7. Added guide for the SA-342M Gazelle in the first post. Hope that helps! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-uSpZROuEd3Qk53ZlNKVVNnSFU/view?usp=sharing
  8. Chuck's guide to the SA-342M Gazelle https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-uSpZROuEd3ZDJBTEVpY1ZQRlU Enjoy!
  9. Hi, I've been trying to destroy my helicopter as much as possible and I came to realize that at the moment there doesn't seem to be a way to "break" your rotor shaft/blades due to overtorque being applied on blades. I can beat these blades as much as I want, they will never break. Are the real life blades THAT sturdy or this type of damage model isn't implemented yet? Thanks in advance, Chuck
  10. I'm glad you found it useful, mate. Good job!
  11. [ame] [/ame] A tutorial on autorotation with the SA-342M Gazelle. This procedure is as per the Eurocopter flight manual. Let me know if it helped!
  12. Question: why would a pilot leave the Demarreur (starter) on after engine has cranked up? Most of the helicopters I've worked on turn their starter off once IDLE NG has been reached and minimum NR is reached.
  13. Voice acting was fine, I don't see what the fuss was all about. Bon boulot Nicolas!
  14. The L-39C has been used as civilian aircraft with no weapons, so for this variant gunsight removal would make sense. However, for the ZA version (which is a purely light combat variant and has never been used in civilian applications), I see no point in having a removable gunsight for the ZA.
  15. You are not disappointing me at all, mate. It is very, VERY impressive that at 20 years of age you can come up with such content presented in such a professional manner.
  16. Well, the moment you try to acquire wiring diagrams about electrical circuits or data that is proprietary information to suppliers like motorists or companies specialized in avionics, this is where it gets tricky. Getting an authorization from Boeing means nothing if you can't get the authorization from the OEMs themselves (original equipment manufacturers). Many systems are subcontracted to smaller and more specialized companies, while the aircraft manufacturer "just" has to integrate them to the aircraft. The flight manuals themselves are often not enough to model something to a level that is satisfying (mainly hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel or electrical systems). Most of the time, flight manuals from the aircraft manufacturer is not enough. OEM documentation is required to be able to guesstimate a model that is "good enough". This is where it can get tricky. Licenses of an F-4 for a movie or a video game means that you have a 3D model or something. A full study sim, on the other hand, is a completely different beast since you are basically reverse-engineering the whole aircraft. This is why most flight sim companies are armed to the teeth with legal teams. This dilemma to gather information is part of my daily job (I do flight sims for a living, believe it or not) and it is indeed quite complicated at times and can involve insane amounts of money and legal stuff. It's case by case. If a legal agreement prevents you from doing something, well there's not much you can do about it. This is especially true regarding military technology.
  17. Strangely enough, the only aircraft in your list operated by Iran is the F-4E. Coincidence? Food for thought...
  18. What has changed with the ignition system since january?
  19. Once again, I must emphasize that these videos are invaluable. Out of curiosity, what's your background John? You seem quite knowledgeable for an impressive variety of aircraft and I was wondering where you got all this knowledge from (apart from flight manuals).
  20. That is correct. Fixed.
  21. Corrected a couple of mistakes in the NAVIGATION section after Tarres graciously corrected me. Thanks Tarres!
  22. Two things: ************* First: This thread has now 40,000 views... wow! ************* Second: here is the latest addition to the library (available in first post as well). Chuck's guide to the DCS L-39ZA Albatros https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-uSpZROuEd3aHZwV0VtalFCR1E Enjoy!

  24. Voted no. I think Razbam's efforts and resources should be spent on other more marketable projects.
