  1. People are avoiding online gameplay because of senseless snobbery like what is portrayed in your thread. It's this kind of elitest BS that intimidates those who are constantly feeling like they aren't "good enough." It's exactly your type of snob that most servers don't want onboard- especially the open ones. Go find a squadron to hide in... the open community has absolutely had it with your kind.
  2. And it's this kind of thread that scares people from coming in online.
  3. I'll bring my server up right now... if you get this soon, go into "Eno's Firehouse" and try to connect. Post your log in here and I'll post the server log. That may help to identify what is happening? Worth a try anyway. EDIT: Sorry- took me a bit longer to get the server up. It's up now.
  4. Try going into your saved games / DCS / config folder and delete the network related config files. You could also just try renaming your dcs config folder to config1 and try connecting. The game will rebuild those files (like hitting the reset button) and if it works then at least you know that the problem was somewhere in that folder. You can then go by process of elimination. If you have complex input configurations, just pull the input folder out of the renamed config folder and put it in the new one created by the game. Try it and report back.
  5. I had a guy on my server last night who was having frustrating issues as well- his only workaround was to download and install the steam version. That worked for him though even folks from ED replying to his service ticket couldn't explain why it worked. But it did! But first, humour me: I'd like to know more about where this GPu install happened in relation to your software reinstall. And what GPu was it? Did you stay with the same overall brand (ie nvidia / amd) or swap? Do you have issues while loading instant action or playing single player? I noticed you deleted some network related files but I'd also be curious about deleting the entire dcs folder in the saved games area and see what happens. Or maybe not delete- just rename the existing dcs1 and let the game recreate it. Failing in that, try the steam version install. Sounds like a lot of work but all that can be done fairly quickly.
  6. I will do it.
  7. Here's a weird one from before... I think it's the groups to random zones causing it... a MIST function technically but for some reason it's not playing well. 8. This is contradictory. Most mission makers are in here 10x more than anyone else trying to help others make missions. Just because we want to keep our own within the parameters of our own server doesn't mean we're not in here EVERY- FREAKIN- DAY helping others. And I don't take an empty server personally- I take it financially at the tune of 110 dollars a month + power on the server. What I take personally is people who can't walk 10 feet without being critical of something or someone. And believe me, this community is full of them.
  9. Hmmm. Okay I see what that's about- thank you! I was thinking more along the lines of dynamic weather inputs. I'll have to hunt around for what I was looking at before.
  10. Okay... I've seen that sort of thing before- in another thread- but to be honest I was never able to find the right inputs. Can you point us in the right direction?
  11. I know this thread is circling the drain but one thing that hasn't come up with is the investment a server host makes in the connection / energy to run a server. I'm not talking the guys who put up a server for a couple hours to fly with his friends and then takes it down- I'm talking about the guys who are driving some pretty heavy systems and supporting hefty internet connections to supply the needed bandwidth to support smooth online play 24/7. The community is extremely diluted- and perhaps making a commitment to run a 24/7 server at this point in the game's development may have been unwise... but fact is that can be 80-150 dollars a month just to run a dedicated computer and internet connection (speaking only from my area... might be less or more elsewhere) Who's fault is that? That's not the community- that's a decision a person makes when they decide to host. So we can eat that responsibility and own it. It's our choice. So how is it that you justify all that expense? I put the Firehouse up for about 2 years before I took a step back to catch my breath... and the way I did it (and I think the way a few other full time server hosts have done it) is by producing and hosting UNIQUE content. Not the same missions being played everywhere else... but the missions people would actually come to the server to enjoy. Granted back in the day where we all needed LAN connectivity and each person on a heavy AI mission would draw up to 1 meg per second, I needed the 15mb up connection. 110 bucks a month right there. Monitoring TeamViewer every day- trying to organize a list of mods /admins who had privileges to the host computer to keep it running... fixing missions every time they broke... creating content by request... All I asked for in return was for people not to copy my missions and play them elsewhere. Come into the Firehouse, play with a bunch of great folks... come back for more. Bring friends. Repeat. I don't like for people to copy my missions and take them out into the world- but it's not because I want credit so much as that I don't want to be raked over the coals for all the things in a mission that don't work- whether by design or because of an update. I also think about all the people I may disappoint by dropping a mission over the transom for community consumption only to find out it was a dead sparrow in the first place. Getting this kind of feedback from the relatively small simhq community I flew with was digestible because in the end I could take it as constructive since I knew the source- but to get it constantly from people I don't know... It would get overwhelming (IMO). The last thing I need right now is one (more) reason to lose interest. Having my own little bubble keeps me interested. Grimes said something to me that stuck with me a little while ago. I'd sent him a message just to say thanks for all his work on MIST and with the community- every day I'd come in and see someone needing some help- and he was Johnny on the spot with an answer. He would dig, and fix, and help... he held my hand through countless problems. He said he was surprised and thought my email to him was going to be another complaint that something wasn't working. I didn't want that. Actually, more to the point I DON'T want that. And I'm willing to wager a lot of these folks wanting to protect content don't either. I'm on the side of the community that agrees are person should be entitled to request that their mission be reserved for use on their own server- for their own purposes, whatever their reasons. They have their reasons just like people say they have reasons to use them elsewhere. Sorry- this turned into a bit of a "thing" but I have heard this back and forth a few times and while I respect both sides I just wanted to weigh in because I'm one of those who would rather just keep my missions private.

    MIST or CTTS

Hmmm I guess if there was some way to get input on the changes that were made to the scripting engine that broke MIST and SLMOD so that a fix could be implemented (either by grimes / speed or community at large with their blessing) that would be a first step. I know this what you're saying is that their side isn't busted and now MIST / SLMOD is but I go back to a request I made a long time ago that an internal list of scripting engine changes for folks working on these kinds of tools so they can be easy to keep updated. I can't speak for either one of them but if they feel the way I do about having to break everything in almost every mission down each time there's an update it's no wonder we seldom see them in here anymore. I wish they had some help on the inside- if they don't already.
  13. I think it's been requested in the past- I would love this feature.
  14. Wonder if it has something to do with different pressure between the blades? Be interested in knowing how the bottom blade handles the down wash from the upper one... what that does to pressures in terms of speed of air over the blades from the bottom to the top. I'm spitballing but it must have something to do with it?

Crap you're right Ajax... that fixed it. Sorry about that Sith... that was my bad but if it proves Ajax's fix works then so much the better.

I thought I corrected it? Oh you know what... I also had "Groups." Let me try it again. I saw that correction you made and thought I applied it. My bad.
  19. Eh Ajax... haven't played it yet on MP but I did run Hosta with the modified MIST file (I don't have CTTS on this one) and it did appear like a bunch of the errors that showed up previously are dealt with. I attached the log. dcs.zip

  22. Has anyone taken it apart to do modification on the twist axis spring tension? I've seen everything there is to see about the base spring- but has anyone taken it one step further?
  23. BRAVO TO THRUSTMASTER! I've asked a few of you if you were the one I was talking to about the stick getting loose and tilting to the right ever so slightly. Looking over on the ED forums I'd seen some others who had this issue as well and for the most part relented to dead zoning out that area. I wasn't really ready to accept that so I wrote an email to TM support. I explained the problem to them and to my chagrin their initial response wasn't really my favourite- to the tune of do a diagnostic in Windows Control Panel... I said this was 100% mechanical in nature and that template response wasn't really what I expect from a company I bought a 500+ dollar stick from. I said that somewhat politely (read: I was bordering on a teensie bit ignorant) The next response was much better- and they provided me a step by step instruction to disassembling the stick and what to look for. There is a rubber gasket that should have been underneath the pressure ring but it had worked itself to the top somehow. I moved it back where it belonged, moved some of the lubricant around a bit and put it back together. The stick is like brand new. Some folks take out the spring and do some additional modification to it but I liked it the way it felt right out of the box. Other people take it one step further and take the entire pivot ball assembly off and polish it down to reapply a different type of lube... I had it in the back of my mind but taking out the pins that hold the assembly in place were a bit farther than I wanted to go. Anyway- If anyone is having issues with their TM and find that it has worked its way loose then let me know and I'll pass on the same document they forwarded to me. EDIT: I had to try to attach it for someone over at SimHQ so I might as well just share it here. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8MeQLQ7pOpjbFFPYWhGSkJFU1E/edit?usp=sharing
  24. Okay. I adjusted the file but didn't go back in all my missions and switch it out. Will advise.
  25. Hey Ajax... is that MIST file you have there the same as one corrected the way you described in the other thread in mission builders? I do have a file modified that way... did you make other changes? Look forward to trying it out!
