Outstanding work Hueyman! I don't know who Valentin is but I hope he's part of the development team and things will move quickly from this point. Correcting the rotor tilt may however put a cramp in my habitual backward flight at pick-up :joystick:

Heloguy, Guilty of a fat finger but if your questioning if I can find my rectal lamp, well that's my business. Lerenzoj and Flankerone, Thanks for the help and the picture link. I deleted my saved games keyboard.lua but the only key binding I find is the RShift M to deploy the pilot sight. Nothing to adjust intensity, range or to turn the lam on/off. Can either of you post those key bindings? Thanks.
-
Hey Guys, I've figured out how to deploy the Pilot's sight and found the intensity and range adjustments (on the sight at least). I can't seem to find the switch that lights the rectile lamp. Anybody had success in turning on the rectile lamp? Also, I can't seem to find key bindings for range, intensity or rectile lamp for the Pilot sight. Found the key binding that deploy the sight but came up empty otherwise. Thanks for the help.

BBall, Enjoyed your video. Looks like the 229th crew are having fun. If I ever decide to fly on-line, I'll surely knock on their door. Take care.

Leroy1964, FWIW, I too desire more immersive campaigns and missions for the Huey. Regarding the Vietnam experience, BBall did an outstanding job in capturing at least a sliver of the Huey in operation in Nam in his video (see http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=109084&highlight=bball But the immersion factors we long for, particularly those that are graphically oriented, are either 1) outside the capability of the sim's graphic engine, at least at this point, and/or 2) require hours of mission development work (ala BBall's effort) to produce. Something that the development team is not going to fund or spend time on unless there's a revenue stream at the end of the effort. I suppose one could build missions using the current inventory of objects and scenery in the game that would approach hot LZ landings or medivacs. There may even be terrain in the game that would simulate at least a heavily wooded environment. But Vietnam? I don't think so. I think we'll just have to hope for an enterprising mission builder who shares our desire for "true" immersion.

As Wreaking Crew mentioned, the TIR Pro Clip affixes to the headband of a headset and is wired to a USB port. That tether drove me nuts while using the Pro Clip and I finally shelved the Pro clip and returned to the hat clip. A year ago, Natural Point claimed they were coming out with a wireless (battery powered) version of the Pro Clip but I've seen nothing as of yet. Anyhow, I have no problem using the hat clip but I also agree that the Pro Clip gives a little better tracking. If the wireless version ever becomes a reality, I'll probably switch to that.

Have about 5 hours logged now and still fighting landing the beast. :joystick:

You're welcome. Now go kill something :smilewink:

Let's eliminate a control option problem: Delete the DCS Folder that's in C:\Users\(Your user name)\Saved Games Restart the game and test TIR function (Note: the game will recreate the DCS folder ,, you won't lost anything.)
-
Ok, you've proven the symptom, not the problem. Others, including myself, have no problems after the update and have posted here saying that. See my questions in my post prior to his one.
-
Ok, what Options are selected in the Options menu, specifically in Controls (KA50 Game vs. KA50 Sim) and in the Gameplay tab (Sim or Game)? Edit: Don't understand what a windowed mode would prove. You've already established that TIR is not operable for other than the Arcade mission. That mssion proves that DCS KA50 is seeing the TIR. If the configuration is set correctly, there is no reason that the other missions from the same module would not see the TIR. You've eliminated a bad update/corrupt file by repairing DCS and reinstalling KA50. Have you deleted the DCS folder under saved games? Did you verify that you're flying with Sim control options and the game is set to Sim under gameplay options? I think the problem is config related..just don't know where.
-
Ionic, He mentions that the TIR software can see the trackclip movement and his camera lights are both green. On TIR 5, green lights indacate everything is OK. For some reason, in Sim mode the camera does not see the trackclip. In Game mode, TIR is operating as it should. I can't think of any reasoin this should be happening but I suspect he has a configuration problem when switching between Game and Sim modes.
-
When you refer to "Arcade" mode, what specifically are you selecting in the Options menu? What are you selecting (if anything) in the Options menu when you run one of the problem missions?
-
The mod is working fine for me also.

I checked the Download section of the main website and the upgrade version for BS2 is still there. You can try a re-install and see if that clears it up. Or, try to run a "repair" out of the start menu.
-
Damien, Just tried both Free Flight and Attack Insurgents missions and my TIR 5 is working in both. Do you have a key mapped to temporarily disable TIR tracking and if so have you checked that? Don't know what to tell you otherwise. JJohnson241

You do the same BBall. Enjoyed our chat here. Consider making another video.. you certainly have the knack. Happy 4th!

BBall, I see (by peaking at your Profile picture) that you're an aviator. I envy you. Always wanted to learn to fly but never pulled the trigger. Regarding the ARVN, we were never confortable when ARVN units were on our flank or "had our back". Enough said. Lastly, please pass along to your son my appreciation for his service and my wish for a great career as an Army officer. Your pride is well deserved.

I enjoyed the videos and I was touched by a son's tribute to his father and to the others who fought in the Lam Son 719 operation. I remember reading about that operation and thinking then that the outcome was predictable. With few exceptions, the ARVN was incapable of prevailng in a sustained engagement with the NVA. IMO, Lam Son demonstrated that on a grand scale and set the stage for the ultimate NVA victory in the war. Your Dad and I at least walked on the same dirt during that war. I was with the 26th Marines and spent a few months at Khe Sanh after the battle of Hill 881S in 1967. OK place to visit but you wouldn't want to live there. May your Dad RIP and I'm thankful for his service to his country.

Update applied. SP Create Fast Mission .. UH-1 Load times for Splash and Mission are restored to "normal". FPS in mission restored to "my" normal at least. Looks like the problem created by the prior update is corrected, at least for the UH-1. The question's gotta be "What Happened?" where a bad update was published by ED. DCS World will only become more complex with the additional modules and updates planned. IMO it's a fair question; what's being done to assure that update problems a la yesterday won't happen in the future? Wags??
-
Single Player, Create Fast Mission in GUI: Gui loads immediately and mission is created without noticable delay. Hit Fly.. module splash screen displays in 5 to 8 seconds. Then, average 1min 55 seconds to 2 min. 10 seconds before mission loading progress bar appears. Mission load time averages 30 seconds. The time is takes from module splash screen to mission load progress bar appearing is approximately 2 to 2.5 times longer with this update. :( Tried Fast missions for UH-1, A-10 and P-51D with results as above. Also, I noticed that when mission finally loads and briefing screen appears, there is approximately a 5-7 second delay before game responds to commands and/or Track-IR input. Once mission begins, all appears normal, i.e., as it was before update. Anyone know how to back this update out and return to prior game config?

Need Help (Big Time) - Approach Speed Control and Landing
jjohnson241 replied to jjohnson241's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Mogster, Misery loves company. I find that while descending and slowing down, once the "shake" starts (about to enter VRS), you need to apply quite a bit of collective to avoid VRS. And yes, if you don't manage the cyclic, you'll gain altitude. Watch Simfreak's video (the one with control inputs on). Also, manage the descent to not exceed 300 m/s (monitor VVI gauge). After that all said, I'm still digging flaming holes in the ground half the landing attempts. Practice I guess. -

Thanks much Simfreak. Edit: Just watched your video Simfreak and all I can say is you fly better drunk than I fly sober. Thanks again. -
Need Help (Big Time) - Approach Speed Control and Landing
jjohnson241 replied to jjohnson241's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Well, as a result of the help offered here I was able to land the beast and walk away. :joystick: The VVI tip along with Simfreak's video did the trick, although I still need alot of work in coordinating the collective with cyclic when the "Shake" starts. SimFreak.. any chance you could redo your video with control inputs on? Thanks again. -
Need Help (Big Time) - Approach Speed Control and Landing
jjohnson241 replied to jjohnson241's topic in DCS: UH-1H
Timekilla and Fjacobsen, Thanks for the tips. I think the objective is to avoid VRS (which I have yet to achieve). I've experienced exactly what you say in terms of the effect of raising collective while "trapped" in VRS, that is, a big fireball landing. I have not tried to roll out of VRS and I'll give that a shot as undoubtedly I'll have that opportunity.
