  1. Thanks Wess24m. I'd be interested in watching all the videos you mention in your post. BTW, your tutorial videos are excellent and have gotten me off the ground at least.
  2. Ok, think I understand now. Off to battle the "shakes". Thanks.
  3. I downloaded that mission but have yet to fly it. I'll certainly give it a shot. It appears to me that the formula is decrease collective coupled with back pressure on the cyclic until slow forward progress (crawl slow) is reached at low (how high?) altitude and maintain until IGE is achieved. Then increase collective slightly (how much?) to compensate for loss of lift until ground contact. We'll keep pluggin (and probably dying). Thanks again for your help.:)
  4. Thanks Yurgon. I've viewed the training vids so many times now that I can recite the narrative. Question.. how do you control the decrease in speed as you lose altitude during the approach? For some reason, I find myself carrying too much speed and attempting to correct that with the cyclic (pitch up), only to gain altitude when I just want to slow down. Thanks again for the tips.
  5. Hi Guys, I have yet to land successfully (by that I mean not by accident). I'm having problems with contolling speed during approach and / or entering a hover before landing. Efforts typically result in a smoking hole in the ground. I've attached a TRK file for your giggles and analysis. Hopefully someone can help me with some pointers. Thanks. Landing Crash.trk
  6. All I want to do is turn off the audio alarm while the engine spools up. The switch that turns the alarm off is clickable in the cockpit so I thought it would be mapped to a keystroke. I found a thread in the Bugs - Controllers sub-forum where others were looking for the same thing and couldn't find the key mapping for the switch. The switch should be mapped to a key. Anyhow, thanks for the reply.
  7. Hi Guys, I'm looking to map the Low RPM Audio Alarm on/off to a button on my HOTAS. I can't seem to find the key mapping for the alarm in the Options or the Flight Manual list of key mappings. Does the "R" key silence the audio alarm? Thanks.
  8. That bird saved my young a__ too many times 46+ years ago.. Had to take the plunge.
  9. OK, found it.. thank for the help
  10. cOff, I assume that's a registry key.. can you provide that full key name (I'm not sure where the key lives in the registry). Thanks
  11. I've copied my DCS World install to an SSD (drive F on my machine). I've applied the 1.2.4 update to the SSD copy and verifed that all modules in that copy of World have been updated to 1.2.4. The original copy of World remains on my C drive, unupdated. I purchased the Huey beta and attempted to install the Huey to the copy of World on the SSD (the F drive). The installer gave me a message that DCS World 1.2.4 must be installed. There's a registry key or something that is preventing the installer from recognizing that I've got a valid 1.2.4 inmstall on the copy of World on the SSD. What do I have to do to install the Huey to the copy of World that's on the SSD (F drive)? Thanks.
  12. Started Autoupdater about 10 am EDT. Updater crashed about 1630 with a hash error. Restarted about 1745 and have averaged about 10 KB/s since restart. It's now 1920 hrs. and I've got about 183 Mb left to download. Others have vented thier frustration with the performance of the update infrastructure (or lack thereof). I don't believe Torrent is the answer unless ED can guarantee a sufficent number of Seeds to support the demand. I had a similar experience with the 12.3 update, having taken a day and a half to complete that update. ED, it's not working!!! I was ready to purchase the UH-1H today but I'm not sure now whether I want to make this situation worse (if that's even possible) by expanding my installation.
  13. Thanks for the info/help.
  14. cOff, So with the start menu shortcuts redirected to the F drive and with updater executing from the directory that's on the F drive, we should be ok and the updates should be applied to the copy on F. True?
  15. OK, I changed the "start in" path from C to F. Thanks
  16. I don't recall a property named "working" but the properties included a path and a "launch from" path. Both were pointed at "C" and I changed them to "F" (the SSd copy).
  17. I've changed the shortcut path in the start menu for "world", multiplayer and update DCS World from C to F (the SSD). I assume that's what you meant by "fix the path in the shortcut"??? Thanks.
  18. I have copied my DCS World from my C drive to an SSD (F Drive). When I run World from the SSD, autoupdater checks for updates as it would if executed from the C Drive. My question: When executed from the F Drive, where will autoupdater apply the updates, to the DCS World on C or the copy on the SSD (F drive). Is there a config file that points autoupdater to the DCS World path? I'd like the updates applied to the copy of World on the F drive (the SSD). Thanks.
  19. That video brought back memories, some good.. most bad. Thanks for sharing.
  20. I'll jump back in here to agree with Cali.. I had no issues with the accuracy of the CH gear I used for years. Also agree that CH needs a general update of their consumer controllers. One thing to consider.. CH makes controllers for the industry/government market. The gear they sell to the government features hall sensors, metal construction and "state of the art" design. However, they have not opted to make that gear available to the consumer market. IMO, that is a business decision that considers the ever-shrinking marketplace for consumer flight sims. Whether or not they intend to stay in the consumer market remains a good question.
  21. u I've had the Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog for nearly two years and I fly all my flight sims with it. I've had no problems with either the hardware or the TM Target software. The Target scripting language (LUA) has a learning curve but it can be mastered. Prior to purchasing the Warthog, I had a full compliment of CH gear (Fighter Stick, Pro Throttle, Throttle Quatrant) and I loved it. I did not like the CH Pro Pedals as the width between the pedals is too narrow for my taste. The CH Control Manager software (used to produce profiles for the ch devices) is very powerfull and the support for both hardware and software is top knotch. I used the Saitek Pro Flight Fighter Rudder pedals with both the TM and CH gear and had no problems. Neither TM or CH is force feedback capable. I don't think there's a quality FFB HOTAS on the market currently. Logitech is dropping their FFB HOTAS rig. Frankly you can't go wrong with either TM or CH. If money is the issue, then CH is the way to go. If I were making the decision today, I'd go with the CH gear for the HOTAS and the TM MFD's for extra control (Key) input. Good luck
  22. AceViper, Can you confirm the path for installation? Included in the .RAR is a Sound folder and 3 additional files plus a Readme. Sound folder is straight forward.. but where do the 3 additional files belong? Thanks, JJohnson241
  23. RecoilFx: Interesting solution, trading a stretched neck in favor of the microstick. WildBill: I'll try to contact PeterP. I've noticed his view "mods" here and agree that if there is a solution to be found, that's the place to look. Does he answer his PM's here? Through all this I have to wonder how real P-51 jockeys dealt with this "problem". I would assume that they would have adjusted their seat to effectively place the sight in the center of the reflector (or wherever they wanted it). The manual mentions that the seat is adjustable to accommodate sitting on a chute. Strange that's not modeled in a sim of this fidelity.
  24. Roger the long week. I'll play around with "centering" and post an update. Thanks.
  25. Scrapple, You must be referring to the A-10 or another aircraft. The P-51 has a hand crank for cockpit close and no switch for seat adjustment. Thanks anyway. Foul Ole Ron, When TIR is centered, the "view" is the default cockpit centered snap view. I'm not sure how to change that other than changing the center snap view (lua) in the game. You have something else in mind? JJohnson241
