  1. Very nice skin, thank you!
  2. To set the wingspan of your target for the A-4 gunsight to compute the deflection correctly. It's 33 feet for the MiG-15, 37 feet for the Sabre.
  3. I respectfully disagree. All depends on what you hit, just like in real life I suppose. If you get lucky, the P-51 or Dora you attack will be a burning wreck after single short burst. Sometimes it takes more effort. Known DM models issue aside, I honestly don't see any problem with .50 power or ballistics. It takes some time to adapt to the convergence etc., especially when you play other sims, but the .50 cal is modeled just fine imho. There are issues with DM and there are discrepancies between the actual (physical) damage and the visual representation on the 3D model. None of this does not matter of you concentrate your fire on one area and get good hits. As for your 20mm to .50 cal conversion, I really don't think that 50-60 bullets would be typically enough to bring down a B-17 :smilewink: It's relative though, some 109 pilots RTB'd with as many as 30+ .50 holes in their plane. As for the visible flashes, that I believe is modeled correctly and depicts different round types in the ammo belt. I am not sure what exactly is modeled in DCS, I suspect later variant with API-T, the puffs of smoke might be coming from HE rounds etc etc. Not all of them leave a flash.
  4. Although I agree on the issues with finding targets and keeping your eyes on them, good old dogfights are still very possible and very enjoyable in DCS. A bit of adjustment from 'other sims' is needed, but once you know what you're looking for, and focus on not losing the E/A against the ground (or sky) a bit more, it's not that bad. IMHO of course... As for AI, yes, they are tough, but there are human players out there who will keep their E even better and who shoot as good as the AI. Fair enough I'd say. I agree there is always some room for improvement, but it's a challenge that will make you a better pilot. I see your point though. To stay OT, my first attempt vs the MiG-15:
  5. Same result, the MiG is far superior in the vertical, but luckily the AI does not make very good use of it. I had couple of dogfights (editing the P-51 vs D-9 instant action duel mission) and didn't have much problem with the AI. I suppose it will be far more challenging against a good human pilot :joystick: I tried both fixed gunsight as well as radar range helper, I find the latter less useful in a fast deflection shots in rolling scissors as the piper is floating all over the place. It's amazing though in other situations and long range shooting... (I set it here to 40ft, should be a bit less I know). I can see though why Gabreski used a piece of chewing gum rather than computing gunsight. But it's a great piece of kit once you get used to it.
  6. Swastikas are already in the zip file (alternative textures) Looking forward for new skins!!
  7. I confirm that. Very very occasionally, someone tries to attack the actual airfield with usual result of Mustang 0 : 1 AAA. 95% of the dogfights happen right in the middle, over the legendary 'moose knuckle' peninsula. :D
  8. It is possible to move files into zipped folder. Open the file SU-25T-CPT-TEXTURES.zip with winzip (or 7zip or whatever program you're using) and drag & drop the new *.dds files inside as if you were copying them. Say yes to overwrite all in order to have the old textures replaced with the new ones.
  9. I've been on the map and my view is that it was a one off incident. I am flying on DoW practically daily for last couple of weeks, and this was first time ever I've seen somebody vulching aircraft on the ground. The guy in question also usually takes bombs so fair enough... I agree the map is very dogfight oriented and everybody pretty much ignores the ships and ground targets, but with a bit of practice it's very possible to find the enemy. Just fly to the small peninsula in the middle and look for the flak. The scripted WWII flak really helps spotting contacts. The action takes place at Pitsunda beach, pretty much right in the middle between the 2 bases. We were just unlucky for not spotting anything. (Just my 0.02 ofc ;) )
  10. Yes, yes yes  I really just wanted to reply to this: Having said that, I hope they will do a soft winged Sabre in the future, too. :pilotfly: I really can't wait to fly this plane. I was giving my credit card to the guy at Duxford but he wouldn't take it.

    P51D Skins

Hi TC, no unfortunately I don't. This is the official template an it only contains the 357th markings. Adding the 352nd is fairy simple though, I'll do that for you and PM you the file...
  12. Sorry if I misunderstood something, but I was replying regarding 'all Sabres in Korea used the slats'. All clear, I agree with what you were saying, and wanted to add that 6-3 winged Sabres have indeed seen action over Korea, and that even older slatted wing Sabres were converted to 6-3s during that conflict.
  13. Negative, the 6-3 wing equipped Sabres did see a lot of action in Korean War. In fact, the US shipped lots of conversion kits straight to Korea to get the older F-86As (with wing slats) upgraded asap. The version we're getting is pretty much identical to the last production blocks used in Korea plus the missiles.

    P51D Skins

PSD opened in Photoshop, repaired and saved again. I also renamed the layer groups: LINK

    P51D Skins

Yes I had issues opening the front fuselage file, Photoshop managed to open it OK though after short 'repairing' process. I will upload ot for you tonight, not a problem. As for the language - you can see what is what when you switch the layers on / off and rename the accordingly I suppose...
  16. Agreed, I bought the Asus Xonar DG last year and it was £15 really well spent.
  17. Excellent update, thank you very much. Can't wait to buy this module!
  18. Outstanding as always. Thank you Tom.
  19. Is there any way of having the FSX a2a sounds used for DCS?
  20. I had the same issue and got stuck at the point where I was supposed to press [3] to get to the door gunner's position. Also, TrackIR aiming does not seem to be working with the flexible sight in this particular mission. It works just fine in the 'instant action' missions. Any chance of having these issues fixed in the future? The tutorial itself is very good and helpful
  21. Issue resloved - I don't know if ED did something on their end after I raised a ticket with the tech support, but it's working now at least. Thank you for your help everybody, much appreciated.
  22. DavidRed - I downloaded all latest installers from here: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/dcs_world/ I deleted the old one I had backed up. I only kept my settings *.lua file, but having these issues I also tried removing them and using the default ones. No difference whatsoever. ENO - thank you, I didn't even know there was a Steam version. I will look into that, good idea. As for the GPU, I swapped my 560Ti for 680GTX (nVidia), I am having no issues in single player, all nice and smooth. I made no changes whatsoever to my router or network setup. I also tried deleting the whole DCS folder in \Saved Games. Steam version = light on the end of the tunnel, so I will give that a shot right away  Thanks for your help guys, much appreciated!
  23. Yes, that's the version I am running and yes, regardless of which server I try. I installed a new GPU since then (and I had to re-activate all my modules). Nothing to do with networking I suppose. :noexpression:
  24. Rongor - I don't know, I am running the latest 1.2.8 version. I reinstalled the the game from scratch using the latest installer last week just because of this issue. I assumed that there might have been something wrong with the autoupdater etc. I tried several different servers from the list, but none has worked for me. Is there any way of checking the version on the server? Paganus - this is how the net related bits look like: Just tried the above server with no luck. 10308 is visible via canyouseeme.org - I am not sure if that's necessary at all. :( Thank you both again for trying to help.
  25. Thanks for your reply! I tried waiting 10+ minutes on several servers, same result = nothing at all. :( The net-server.log file contains information from the last successful session in September last year (Robo. joined Blue in P-51... on the server etc.). There was no entry from my attempts today or last week. Also, when I deleted the whole DCS folder, the file did not create itself again. Is there any port I can check for dcs multiplayer other than 10308?
