I'm not entirely sure what you're eating if you're spending around $50 per person for a meal. Even when I eat out and purchase 2 beers, I've spent no more than $15 - $20. I'm currently stuck with a 10 year old Saitek x45 joystick that creaks and sticks because I don't have the money to afford a better joystick. I don't have dedicated rudder pedals, and I only have TrackIR and the TM MFCD's because my family were badass at x-mas time. There are a plenty of people who are in my same situation who have to manage paying rent, all utilities, and food, and don't have enough money to spend $50 on a single module. It's great that you can, and anyone else who feels they can safely do it without going over budget. My big problem was Witchking's attitude. There's nothing more divisive in a community than someone making a statement like he did. His comment implied that those of us who wanted to purchase at the sale price, don't want to support ED. My response was to demonstrate that he's 100% wrong and his elitist attitude towards money will in no way fix our problem that we don't make enough money to buy all the modules we want at full price. The flight sim community is a very small community comparatively to all the other games out there. We do NOT need an attitude that divides those that have plenty of money, with those that don't. We should all be supportive in our own way.

Spoken like someone who has a ridiculous amount of disposable income. I was planning to buy all of the modules I don't currently own (I have A-10, BS1/2, and P51), but at full price that's definitely out of my range and won't be buying any. So you tell me, what's better for ED? Me buying ALL of the modules at the discounted price, or me buying none of the modules at full price. For people on a budget, saving every penny is a big deal, so for you to make that comment is just being incredibly pompous because we WANT to support them. We're just not wealthy tools like you.

Is there a subversion that was more rock solid than another? Or would the last 1.2.4 build be fine?

I've been AWOL for a while and noticed there's been several updates. Reading through the forums, I see there's been more multiplayer problems. I remember experiencing crashes in early 2013 I think it was, but I'm not sure exactly. When using SkateZilla's guide located here - http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114030 - What's the most stable version and subversion to downgrade to for multiplayer? I'll be flying with a buddy who quit playing the game because of the major instability issues we experienced. And would it behoove me to have 2 installs of the game? One that's "official" and at the most current version, and the second at the downgraded version? Or just the one install of the most stable platform then update once DCS World stability has been fixed?

Wanted to post and let you know that the link to the hard cover copy of the P51 is no longer working. I wish the hard copies didn't cost so much. I'd love to have all three of these manuals on display on my bookshelf.

Aside from J.Heller's impolite responses (no matter how frustrated you are, people ARE trying to help you), I'm curious to know if PeterP's solution is usable in the multiplayer servers that do file integrity checking. Anyone using it know?

medium textures-but high cockpit textures?
MadCow replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Count me in on watching this thread as well as my rig seems just barely capable of playing the game atm. -
I bought DCS A-10 back when it was 1.1.1.1 on Steam I believe. A buddy of mine already owned the game and convinced me that he and I would have a great time flying together. Sadly, he's gone completely AWOL for months now. I attempt to fly single player, but I get incredibly bored playing it. And it's not because single player is bad, I just hate all single player games. I've tried getting into the 104th server a few times, just to get shot down by BVR planes. Not very fun for me. So I'm looking for a group of guys who play at least once or twice a week (if not more) to join with. I'm hoping to find a group who flies the "right way" if you will, but also knows how to have fun at times. I don't want to be serious all the time, as flying while drunker than a skunk can be quite humorous. My current skill set is essentially: guided munitions I'm good at (easiest to employ of course), I can launch unguided munitions but I'm terrible at accuracy. I'm semi effective with the GAU-8. I just recently learned how to make mark points, and enter JTAC wp's into the CDU. I'd like to fly with a group that can help me increase my enjoyment of the sim aspect and teach me how to use the systems better and the right way. I'm no slouch though. I enjoy reading the materials and researching online how to do things. I just never get them memorized because single player is BORING and I only play once or twice a week.

I did read it, I was just hoping that after 3 months of your previous posting at least someone had tried it :smilewink: Thanks for committing to update it once 1.2.3 is out though

The zoom would still be a viable option for you. Map it to either an analog axis or a button press and just zoom in once or twice. It's different that the TrackIR zoom, almost like a pair of binoculars, and would probably solve your problem.

Does anyone happen to know if this is working for 1.2.2?
-
Wow, I'm going to blame a lack of coffee this morning on not figuring that out lol. Thanks SiTh!

Please forgive my ignorance, as I'm still a fairly new A-10c pilot/DCS enthusiast...but what exactly does AFM and SFM mean? My gut reaction was that FM stood for Flight Model, but if that is the case I don't know what the A and S stand for. But I might be completely off.

Does anyone happen to have a Saitek X45 profile for P-51D? I've been playing A-10C with my X45 and it works beautifully, but the biggest helper was there was a profile was already done by someone. When first jumping into a new plane, most of the time you don't know which features and buttons are the important ones. This lack of knowledge is what has kept me from creating my own profile, and in turn has kept me from flying the P-51.

+1 And you may have to adjust your dead zone as well. You have to keep in mind that the distance your gamepad stick moves is far less than an actual joystick so it's going to be harder to use initially until you've practiced with it. Play with the settings, and learn to fly with a soft touch. The tutorials will most likely do both of what you've asked. You get time in the air so that's going to give you more time to adjust to the gamepad, but it also teaches you all of the basics (and I do mean basics) of how to get things done. And you'll almost definitely have to do each tutorial multiple times until everything has sunk in. The good thing is: As you invest more time in learning, you will actually SEE visible improvements and you will get better. And that's an amazing feeling when you look back and remember when you first started, you couldn't even figure out how to turn your gun on or start a single engine.

Madone, the training missions are no longer broken I believe. EvilBivol uploaded fixed training missions. Mind you, they're not patched in via ED's patcher, but they're free and the ones I've tried (of the missions that used to be broken) do actually work now. Phonix, if your game pad starts working out for you and you plan to learn the plane and do the tutorials, do yourself a huge favor and grab these: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/250461/

A-10C Warthog plane not loading correctly HELP
MadCow replied to Cmdr_Scott's topic in DCS World 1.x (read only)
Cmdr_Scott - What you're describing is exactly what happened to me when I started playing Multiplayer for the very first time. The culprit? I accidentally jumped into an A-10A. A lot of the servers have FC3 installed and have all of the planes available to fly because of this. I actually jumped into an A-10 multiple times and almost gave up on multiplayer until someone else told me to double check what plane I was getting into. Sure enough, the moment I selected A-10C everything was rendered as expected. Try that before you do anymore of the other headache stuff :) -
Gun and unguided rocket training is driving me insane
MadCow replied to Skall's topic in Mission and Campaigns
I wanted to bump this post as it's a much more concise forum for what problems were being experienced. I originally posted here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=75464 but it seems many of the training missions are buggy. While I won't quit flying, it IS a tad frustrating as I'm one of those newbies trying to learn everything before I start campaigns let alone multiplayer. I hate hopping into multiplayer and not having a single clue what I'm doing, and the bugs in the mission trainings are slowing my progress to getting into multiplayer. Edit: Maybe ED should look into all of the training missions as Skall demonstrates many of them either have waypt issues or other odities. -
Problem with GAU-8/A and Rockets tutorial 1.1.0.8?
MadCow replied to Gremlin's topic in Mission and Campaigns
 So reading through here it seems I'm having the same problem posted here, but I'm using version 1.2.2 Once I'm told to turn to waypt 3, that's the last I hear of him. I tried using the version from here: http://files.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/59550/ and those didn't help either. I've attached my track of an example. Aug8MissleTraining.zip -
Multi-monitor set-up guide & help (unofficial)

No this isn't DCS World, it's DCS A-10. If I align my monitors to the top this will still require me to put my monitors on top of something wouldn't it? -

Instead of editing, I'll make a second post. My combined resolution in the options menu is in fact already set to 5280x1200. So far, the horizontal viewing is spot on. It's the vertical that seems to be out of whack, particularly that 24" -

MadCow replied to MadTommy's topic in Multi-Display Bugs
@Mastiff: I would like to try and get it to work without having to put a bunch of books under my left and right monitor to make them sit correctly. That doesn't help fix the problem of the middle monitor not even displaying completely full screen. @MadTommy: I actually had the 150 in there and it shifted the picture of the left and right monitors down by 150, but did not fix the problem of my middle monitor not displaying the top section. While I haven't taken a ruler to measure it, it seems like the bar at the top is 150 lines, which is the difference between the vertical of the 22" and the 24". -

Just double checked to make sure, they're all lined up perfectly, but remember they're lined up on the bottom.
