I was playing the Georgian oil war campaign and was nearing the front. I noticed missiles flying all over the sky so i quickly turned weapons on and decreased altitude. Then i started to look for targets with shkval. And soon i found 6 tanks far away, but just in range. They were just tiny little black boxes in monitor so i didn't see who's armour they were. I didn't really thought much. I locked the target and fired and then next one and so on. After all those tanks were nothing but smoking wrecks the thought came to my head. " Were they enemy or my own guys" :cry: Same time enemy at the other side of the bridge fired at me. I tried to make evasive action but didn't success in that. First missile hit me and engines fail. Luckily i had the time to jettison everything i had and defused arms. I made a thrilling emergency landing and survived. I should have died for what i just did. :music_whistling: In the debriefing all came clear to me. I destroyed 6 tanks of my own side. :doh::doh::doh: They took all my points away. About 3000 so far. I was surprised they didn't lower my rank to helicopter engineer. :) I'm still 1st LT. I think i need to put labels on. :lol:

I was very happy when i noticed this. I feared those audios would be english in ENG version. It's much more immersive with russian audio rather than english. Subtitles are enough.

You even sure you got those missiles loaded on your wing. :megalol: Sorry had to ask. 1. Master arm on 2. Laser standby on 3. Ground moving target on 4. arm the fuse of the missiles 5. select missile(push Y) 6. Turn shkval on (O) 7. Find and lock target 8. FIRE!!!! Thats how i do it. In fact i have configured most of those buttons to my stick so i can be ready for a fight in less than 5 secs now. Normally when i'm just patrolling or flying to next waypoint my weapons are all unarmed.

Courier is one of the missions that starts with all systems offline atleast. Weather isn't the best though.

When i'm playing campaigns i use game mode still for flying, i find it just too hard with sim mode. It still isn't any easier than any other regular sim in the past. Without game mode this sim really is over the top hard sim like no other ever in history of games. For the last couple of days i have been practicing all sim mode, but i find it just too hard for me. I have a wife and 2 kids so i don't have the time it would take to learn all that. btw. Does anyone know how to get rid of those consolish weapon indicators on lower right screen. I know how to disable that toy radar, but weapon indicator i don't know. Also what i wish for is a semi game mode. Where everything else in avionics is in sim mode, but target locking is behind one button. ED Patch perhaps. ? :music_whistling: After remapping my stick i think it isn't needed now. I can start attacking in less than 10 seconds after entering target area. Now only thing i need to learn is how to fly this thing in Sim mode... Night time battes with full avionics is pain in the ass. You can't see *hit in your shkval monitor. Only thing that's going to help you is if someone else illuminates the area for you. IR would be nice buddy...

Setup extracts it by itself you don't need to do anything with it. Just make sure it's in same directory as setup file.

If i remember correctly from the russian campaign. It's a night mission where you need to fly to far north base because your own base get under attack. You have to help some other guys on the way there. When you get to the north base the lights are all out on the airfield, but as soon as you radio to them and ask for clearance to land they nicely put the lights up.

Me too. I think i noticed maybe 5 fps drops from the first campaign. There's just so many units in these missions compared to first.

Couple of days i have been using all sim options. I started with game mode on a russian version and now after ENG version i started learning the TRUE way of flying and attacking. Still can't fly for shit. :smartass: And often when i'm finding targets and finally got a lock on target and launch my first ATGM the enemy SAM sends me a exploding welcome party at my face. :) This really is HARD !

Definetly no. Demo from a simulator won't work ever. Expecially in this. This only has 1 accurately detailed chopper to screw around with. Demo would show too much of a full game. Think about it. If you are able to fly with a Ka-50 in a demo it basicly covers 80% of the sim. Maybe if you put some time limit to it like 5mins or so. But then someone will hack it to have unlimited time. Nah, forget it. But this is just IMO.

I'm playing with old M$ sidewinder FF2 stick. No problems.

I have played simulators all my life. Lomac, LHX attack chopper, Gunship's, Falcon's, IL-2 to name a few. But i have never played anything so hard than this. This is like a big daddy of all simulators. I managed to complete campaign on game mode, but i just don't see myself doing it at realistic. :joystick: I'm not saying it is a bad thing, quite the opposite. It's just amazing that finally after all these years i finally encounter a SIM i just don't know how to play.

I just uninstalled russian version and installed Eng version. No deactivation needed. And i copied the pilot data from RU to ENG. Works fine.

Probably because of the memory handling of Vista. Too many units on those campaigns. I think they will work just like any other campaign, but you may encounter stuttering so bad that it's almost unplayable. I have Vista too and i'm going to try that campaign no matter what. ;)

Found this on the GUI manual. RANK. As your pilots gain experience, they will grow in rank. This is done automatically. Rank will be indicated by the name of the rank and the associated shoulder board. Experience is gained through flight hours and accomplishments in battle. I think it counts everything you have accomplished in missions. Points, kills and flight hours. Also beware not to shoot any friendlies. You lose "shitload" of points.

My stats are: Flight hours 15h 30 min Points 1362 3 medals I just got promoted to First LT.

I'm thinking of buying a new GPU. Prorbably a GF9600GT or 9800GT. Now i have GF7600GT. I wonder do i get much more fps with that upgrade in this sim ? I know it makes one hell of a difference in usual FPS game, but about this i don't have a clue.

I'm not sure but could the problem be that the rotor blades get affected by ice and break. I have been couple of times so high that i got the warning light in cockpit suggesting using the rotot de-icing system to prevent any damage. Obviously i put it on so i dont know what happens if i dont.
