basically people here including me don't understand what GG is saying, and that is that radar technology just cannot advance anymore, so F22 is forever and eva invisible to radar, or unable to be shot by radar guided missiles.. no matter the time frame, 10 yrs from now, 100 yrs from now, radar technology, software, algos, nothing can ever come close to what f22 shape is today and will be in 20 years still the same shape.. even as radars get more and more advanced with more and more advanced computers to analyze all kind of feedback, secondary, or passive or god knows what else the future holds for radar technology it just cannot come close to what f22 shape is today and was 20 yrs ago.. i must sadly agree i am stupid, f22 is and will be stealthy forever.. for you see GG told me you can't beat technology, once f22 was made all radar technology is void now, you just can't shoot f22 anymore.. and will not be able to do so even in 40 yrs time, because radar doesn't work that way.. end of story. move on. )) i am thankful for GG explaining the future of radar for me, to be able to see the future in 20,30 years in advance and still know radars will just never be advanced enough to catch a glimpse of f22... who says nostradamus didn't have the ability to know the future.. long story short, f22 rules the skies, in 20-40 years, and no development of radar technology will ever be able to detect him.. not even photon radars and x-rays and god knows what will be discovered in 10 years will never be able to do this, not even a technology we don't even know exists and has been researched will be able to detect him..this is how f22 stealthy this is.. end of story. move on))

wow, that Su-34 testing the if i'm correct the S-25 rocket is really close to the cement block target..are they testing how close can the plane fire this without getting destroyed in debris or just a rocket test .. last pic) hmm, .. girl takes picture of plane, but another man rather take picture of girl taking picture of plane..now he has two gorgeous photos in one)) -
What would a Russian combat flight be called?

@mandrake.. knowing children are probably commenting on my post i made sure children can "read it".. especially since you would buy it and all.. i'm glad to be able to educate children..

@Rincevent.. i dont' know why so much hate towards France in terms of military history, France was quite successful throughout the history from challenging Rome, to defending against emergence of German state,to challenging the whole British empire-attacking Russia was the mistake Napoleon shouldn't have made but i guess nobody learns that one when it comes to Russia lesson.. WW1 was a mess, no real chance for anybody to win anything really, WW2 UK together with France were to lenient with Hitler and hoped the dude will turn Eastward and just keep marching until he is exhausted, sadly it didn't turn that way for France which remained alone in fight against stronger army, .. about other war campaigns France stood there just as much as anybody else would, in Vietnam they fought for their colony from 1950-1962 ,more or less as long as US did a much more powerful nation, algeria same way.. but its impossible to win those wars since they were nationalistic liberation movements supported by the people ..it was a mistake/war crime to even try to stop them.. we can argue Britain runs away in defeat as well, they left India soon after 2WW.. they left all the strategic bases to US, they left Sinai and Suez to US influence, they Lost Palestine to Israel, Iraq, South Africa.. pretty much the whole british empire was abandoned by the mighty brits EVEN though they were on the victors side of the war.. they did all that without a fight vs. the americans who pressured them naturally to abandon their empire.. and UK did so without a single shot in defense.. So, its unfair to put all that French hate and nonsense about how they surrender easily..

@gg .. Russians and Chinese are not in a military alliance like US is with western nations.. also about saudi f-15..its more than EECM package..its Friend of foe system, its embedded in the electronics to the core, its impossible to remove, the thing is when you lock a target the system will recognize Israeli aircraft and make it impossible to get a launch permission and guide the missile.. its a done deal, this is not a conspiracy, its how the world works today.. Now, about Turkey F-35 we don't know yet, most probably same thing happened then with Saudi F-15 just that for political reasons they made the deal under the table as not to embarrass Turkey and show to the world how low they rank in the "equal" relationships in NATO.. it is also interesting how Israel said to US that their F35 be delivered without US software and electronics that are the most delicate in nature.. it would seem they don't trust US, and want to have total independence in that area )) lol.. so much paranoia .. about Rafale hud, yes, i agree with others, its cluttered like a crazy math professor going on a rampage in math class.. its weird... don't know if its a "french thing" or just had such a hud to hide how a real rafale hud looks like.. its certainly a cluttered mess.. i was dissapointed there was no Gauss graph curvature drawn somewhere coupled with E=mc2 equation))

@eddie a EU 5th gen is when its EU made and designed.. not bought from US..major difference .. why did EU even build the Tiffy then if they are getting F35? cuz making own stuff gives you a status of a sovereign power, and not a banana republic that can be cut off from maintaining defense if your "ally" changes his mind.. about alliance being two way?)) if you say so)).. why no BVR radar exposure of F22 then? .. i remember how Israel managed to "convince" US to sell F-15 to Saudi Arabia but make them impossible to lock and launch weapons on Israeli fighters.. Israel asked for the same package to be delivered to Turkey F-35 as well.. Turkey went into a rampage and then all got quiet afterwards.. so, its like Orwel said.. all animals in the farm are equal.. but some are more equal than the other ..right.. and that is not a two way alliance.. but one way highway..

can the OP add a "poll" where "we" can say if we think in the video of rafale-f22 that rafale emerged as plane with the upper hand-in that particular video, i'm not saying all around Rafal is better than F22 just on that one single video of tape where we can see F22 in the Rafale hud and being shot at and gunned-simulated.. how many think this is what happened, and how many ppl think F22 was evading successfully and Rafale didn't score hits, or didn't even got a gun kill out of it ..
-
its interesting that US refused F22 BVR with Rafale.. and i also suspect F22 is carrying that enlargmend of RCS device to protect its signature )) haha.. same they avoid BVR training for fear its LPI radar might not be so LPI actually.. and whats worse..once in RWR of rafale of tiffy it gets stored, analyzed for further training and dissemination between the EU forces.. i've heard some guy complaining why rafal guy hates f22 since we are allies)well.. when you see US hiding what the real RCS of F22 is when F22 is training with a so called ally we can see this "ally" statement is a little bit wobbly at best.. now signatures of radar are most important, thats why there are spy ships always around naval exercises of the opponents to try and get the signatures of potential enemy ships and store them in electronic libraries.. Now, does US have Rafale signatures? most probably, since Rafale has to train in US controlled airspace it means US easily gets Tiffy, Rafale sigs while EU can't really do much to get US sigs.. nice one.. but thats what happens when alliance is 1 way street i guess.. When EU gets some balls and decide to do a joing EU 5th gen project and survives the US panic attacks for EU doing this.. then we might see if the "alliance" is a real thing or is a more of a master-vassal relation as it feels like..

why do big planes always have many many buttons))? .. i mean i kinda get it, but not really.. i mean, we are dealing with same stuff as with a fighter-basically a plane, wings, fuselage.. so why so many buttons, control panels.. the bomber ends up looking like a control room in the nuke power plant)) .. i've heard Tu-95MS could go further in modernization and re-digitalization upgrade, but Russia is doing calculation whether its worth it or rather spend the money on design of new strategic bomber that should be coming in 2030.. about Su-30 pic.. does this plane have a FLIR-or should i say D-downward-Looking -Infrared to target, lase its bombs ? .. or does it strap a lase,IR pod to the body..? great pics though.. i would love flying in Tu-95.. i enjoy silent crafts, but loud ones like this make me especially cosy and sleepy.. like a washing machine making a baby fall a sleep.. i love the vibrations.. would enjoy reading a good book while on nuke patrol in the north pole.. -
@otto.. we are not discussing tactics but plain old simple aircraft maneuvering abilities..

again, i know what a mock dogfight is, and it doesn't take anything out of Rafal abilities. so they start in a fair fight..its still something.. i would imagine F22 dominating with superior T/W ratio, TVC, but that wasn't the case.. from that point of view i'm impressed.. now if the mock dogfight started with F22 in front of Tiffy/Rafal then i understand the desperation of f22 defenders..but as i see it was a fair fight where both planes start with equal advantage/disadvantage.. about BVR thats another thing..thats realm of electronics, RWR, radar, stealth etc.. hardly plane ability but mosty whats inside that counts.. this mock dogfight was to show rafal plane, airframe worthiness and it was awesome.. as well as tiffy also.. i do wonder though.. why didn't EU pull the stealth card when designing the new fighter.. ? are they to inept?-i doubt it, .. or is it not to cause Washington un-easiness as it would make US think EU trying to break orbit )) i think the latter.. in that sense its stupid that EU has to degrade themselves so US can feel superior to EU.. and i wonder what design a EU stealth 5gen plane would look like.. hmm..
-
i wouldn't say this isn't a good Superman movie.. ppl that are dissing it are against it cuz its not the superman from the 80s.. )) you know with a stupid curl on his head and winking at the camera... and doing all those cheesy things.. like ppl protesting james bond has become too realistic because he falls in love, shows vulnerabilities(still very few-lol) and doesn't entertain the "charm" that was part of the first bond movies but is more action oriented .. i guess some ppl rather watch a Hugo Boss commercial with a pistol in a hand of the actor and kissing a hot girl from time to time and calling it "classical bond" .. same is with this superman, he is much more serious than the Superman classic.. there is much to be done to truly make Superman the hero of the whole world and not just some US army appendage .. slowly this is happening for marketing reasons but also to develop the story more, since Superman is supposed to be against war, violence its against his code to be then used as a tool for the US army to hunt and kill their enemies.. So, in next movies i think this will become more evident.. if not for other reasons for a very simple one, nobody in foreign mkts will watch it otherwise)) and foreign markets bring more money than US since 2008..

@otto.. i think there are other reasons for France stepping out of Tiffy program.. its the France centric view of their position in Europe.. they feel that "independence" thing strongly or just view Germany with a weary eye.. Some projects are considered too important to be shared with others.. Rafal was one of those projects.. otherwise we would be seeing Euro-tank, Euro-sub, Euro-carrier..but we don't.. EU is not yet one big piece of Euro to merge stuff, France wants some military hardware completely theirs as if to hide the tech or ensure its not compromised in some way.. Anyway, both tiffy and raf are great dogfighters, tight turns and sustaining them like crazy.. i know about f22 fight its all a mock dogfight but still, if rafale couldn't turn for crap there wouldn't be no f22 on the hud of rafale.. so what i'm trying to say is nobody can deny the europe success in creating quite deadly turning machines..tiffy and rafal of course.. i don't want to even imagine the mock dogfights of f35 fat piglet vs. the tiffy or rafal.. it will be brutal .. especially since pentagon is stripping and downsizing the abilities of f35 to meet the "standard" that is being lowered so it can pass the tests.. god knows if f35 will be able to safely pull 9Gs without breaking up.. as it is, f35 is restricted to 5.5G, and flying not higher than 40.000 feet.. or was it 20.000 feet?.. it would seem US truly put all the eggs in one "stealthy" basket.. problem is, if it turns out it doesn't work they won't be able to strap on a machine gun like on f-4 in vietnam and correct their mistake..
-
must say wow, Rafale seems very good at turning tight and maintaining .. what a beast.. from the tech info i wouldn't have picked it up, i mean it has pretty much close to 1 t/w ratio and yes the canards help in low speed turns but still.. wtf right?.. with super-cruise powerful raptor engines i thought there is no way Rafale or Tiffy for that matter would be able to keep up with f22.. i guess if we would be able to obtain tiffy videos vs. f22 it would be similar outcome?.. incredible.. i guess f22 engines are made more for super-cruise than for dogfighting, the f22 pilots must be thinking -this is so embarrassing.. like loosing a drag race while driving a modern BMW vs. a punk kid with pimped up 90's car.. it just doesn't look right..
-
oh yeah.. its also quite symbolic.. Superman being sought after by ZOD and threatening Earth if not delivered reminds me of Snowden being sought by USA and threatening anybody who might provide shelter.. Also, Superman in the end does something.. don't want to give a spoiler.. if you watched it you know.. he shoots down a ..khm khm.. so its proof he is against totalitarian regimes.. i was mostly impressed by Krypton homeland.. really super-advanced civilization..that went a little too much into technology i guess and lost its way..

Kaktus29 replied to Flаnker's topic in Military and Aviation
@nola.. the weight, empty weight of Su-35S is about 18.4 tons, the usual Su-27 variants weigh at 21-22 tons.. that is without fuel,weapons.. so loosing 4 metric tons while getting a more powerful engines makes Su-35S totally more powerful in t/w ratio than before, even with added fuel and weapons i can't see why it couldn't super-cruise as eurofighter can at 1.3 machs.. of course Su has much more internal fuel, so if you load it up to the max it won't be possible to supercruise, but under 5 tons of fuel, air-to-air weapons load why not.. -

yeah, love the Su-35S performance, nothing short of outstanding.. to those that say such maneuvers have no use in dogfights i really disagree .. if we are talking guns-guns dogfight that yes, its hard to gun down an opponent if one uses TVC while the other guy speeds away into the clouds.. but if we are talking infra-missiles dogfight than yes, this is superbly easy for Su-35 to point his nose to the enemy plane or at least bring the plane in the fire-launch zone of the missile and then helmet-fire the missile.. about how much time is needed to get a lock, locking with OLS is faster than with radar and most modern radars also have no problem locking in 1 second in close combat..so i don't know why this talk about Su-35 needing to point his nose at a running away target for considerable time, 1 second is more than enough, and Su35 has shown it can hold it for 4 seconds easy.. to me the most surprising is that Su-35 has lost weight..wow, better engines plus loss of weight.. a truly strong dominant machine, i bet it can super-cruise now, albeit under 1.4Mach.. Right now its Thrust to weight ratio is above 1.1 i think.. also the air-frame seems strong, not to break under this maneuvers.. i've read somewhere plane is designed to sustain +14G-loads.. -
@weta )) lol)) ditto.. i don't know why is that so hard to accept its a good idea to have in a plane.. why should a plane "wait" until it craters the ground when it can take over and correct its flight path.. about Volvo, well that video of two bufoons doing something wrong is not descriptive of what Volvo can do.. check this out.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pl1UMfxa_r4 all in all automation in cars is coming fast, i think self-driving cars will be a must by law in 10 years or less.. it will improve the fluidity and speed of transport by a magnitude of 4 or higher and safety to such levels that dying in a car accident will be as likely as dying in a falling elevator .. about automation, there is this AK-130, naval gun its a big caliber gun firing almost instantaneously one shot after another.. the automation is incredible while on US ships you are manually loading and firing.. first "drone" -a craft flown remotely or being able to influence its flight path through remote way was by a Russian anti-ship missiles back in the 50's.. all systems that come online and speed at which you do this is also a sign of automation of internal systems and built-in design, for this reason T-90 will start up faster than other tanks and drive longer without need to stop and calibrate the computer, ballistic comp, and god knows what else.. all in all Russians have been at a fore-front of automation, especially mechanical, in electronic department they are lagging, but mechanical they excel..
-
a computer system can malfunction ..well of course it can, but we don't see people using stairs anymore but we trust the elevator machine right? .. automation is good, a system like this is already implemented in cars.. obviously americans are far behind this and germans are best in civilian versions like mercedes.. a car will detect that the driver is not "present" with his mind as the car steers off the road, a warning is given to "wake up" the driver who obviously is sleeping or is dead, and if nothing happens AI takes over and steers the car back in the land and slowly decelerates.. i can't believe you find this soo hard to have such a system..
-
@GG wrong.. Alfa subs tops in automation, tanks top in automation, space shuttle "copy" Buran tops in automation-flew into space and back without personnel.. Top in space exploration automation, first robotic extraction of space/planets debris was done by Russia with moon extraction by a drone.. but hei, its a free world you can of course interpret this as Russia not being at a forefront of automation..
-
@GG .. a computer on the plane can see "crash pattern" and take control.. this is how AI can "know" the pilot is obviously not worth his salt as you say.. and in F22 case this would save his life.. the pilot was aware but with much diminished consciousness cuz of lack of oxygen.. so when crash was approaching i guess it shouldn't be too much problem to cram in a system that takes over and lands the plane for the f22
-
yeah, Russians have always been on the forefront of automation, from submarines to tanks..reducing people in the process .. i can imagine AI will be able to do missile evasion much better and faster with 0.01 seconds of time reaction than any human pilot can.. so most of the time pilot will sit in the canopy and press buttons to determine different kind of approach to initiate attack/defense according to situation.. i am also amazed Raptor doesn't have the automatic take over-land ability.. i thought even Airbuses have this by now.. i guess Russian 5gen will be the first.. unless US crammers this into the already crammed up F-35..

great update.. although this map update graphic stuff, ..is this wort it since EDGE is being developed or are they abandoning EDGE and will rather incrementally beautify the map we have?..
