Military and Aviation News Thread (NO DISCUSSION)
Kaktus29 replied to topol-m's topic in Military and Aviation
@marcos )) lol... whats the point.. S-300 is a defensive weapon, as long as Israel doesn't send jets to bomb Syria Israel will be perfectly safe.. or do the Israelis prefer Russia sends Iskander missiles instead? what really LOL-ed me the veil threat of Israeli general as to warn the Russians that we Know what to do if Russia sends the systems)) Was he trying to imply they might kill the russian sailors in international waters like turkish civilians carying medical supplies to Gaza? My god, has Israel actually threatened Russia?)) talk about biting more than you can chew) .. Soon Netanyahoo told all generals to shut up and not talk..for making things worse than they are.. after all, Russia can't take such threats lightly.. -
how many would be interested in TWC Su?
Kaktus29 replied to Kaktus29's topic in Military and Aviation
oh crap, haha, you're right, .. my god, how does one do that? .. from what i heard Russian planes have simply a button, that if you press it all your movements with the stick are amplified to mean two things-moving the normal flight surface controllers like ailerons etc.. plus TWC accordingly.. so you move the stick as you would normally but with added benefits.. so if one pulls full to the back on the stick-pitch wise-it would mean TwC is on full in that direction... -

Kaktus29 replied to Kaktus29's topic in Military and Aviation
what do you mean "control laws" .. i'm not saying they need to model everything to the last bolt...just simulating a change in thrust and the effect it has on the plane afterwards..i think AFM could simulate the rest on its own.. about dogfights, i don't care, i would like to see how it is to fly with twc, .. to see how easy it is, or hard to maintain certain loops, moves, .. turns.. obviously in dogfight situation you need to know what you are doing or TWC can easily become more a disadvantage than an advantage.. turning right away after passing the bandit would just drain your energy, unless one goes into a knife-dogfight with IR missiles this would be self-defeating manoeuvre ..with guns only i guess TWC shines in the late stages on the fight when you are more or less on the six of the bandit and you can use twc to adjust correctly to him while his speed bleeds as he tries to run away in an every increasingly tighter turn.. -
Since it is the easiest thing to model, not really any classified info, your moving nozzles which for simulation aspects don't need to be simulated to the last bolt how they move but what they do when they move-change direction of thrust thus moving the plane in different direction .. ED could do it, or do you guys thing a mod could be done or something.. how many would like to try this stunts out there, .. just for the heck of it, to see how much fun can one have before over-doing it and crashing-it would be hard though but we simmers can do the impossible if we want)) especially when it comes to crashing stuff.. Since ED will do the Su-27SM its hard to see this implemented, this is more of a Su-30MKI version and not really Su-27SM thing.. but maybe ED could do just a "tester" where you have this ability but not in combat, but just to try it out, in free-flight? .. god knows nobody would want to dogfight you in this thing..

my god, what a rocket.. )) love the fact they made them guided later on.. if one needs to be 100% sure the tank will be destroyed one uses S-25)) -
Lies (about naval combat) DCS World told me
Kaktus29 replied to maturin's topic in Military and Aviation
@maturin )) lol..you can't blame ED for not "Inventing" US anti-ship missile the size and speed of the Russian ones.. Russian designers build such weapons since they were needed to overcome huge targets and sink them -like aircraft carriers and their defending ships" .. its a doctrine thing.. US probably doesn't need such missiles since they can deploy harpoon on F-18 in even larger numbers than the Russian AsM .. imagine, 60 F-18, each carrying 4 harpoons.. that is what?.. 240 missiles... if every missile is intercepted by the Russian anti-missile missiles they would drain all of Russian capacity and in second wave of attack there would be no ammunition to throw at the incoming harpoons.. and that is "best case scenario" for the Russian ships.. all in all, we are going into stealth mode again.. range will decrease again because of this.. radars have become too powerful, missiles have too much range.. it almost makes the aircraft carrier's obsolete-unless one fights a naval battle in the middle of the atlantic ocean-.. anywhere else (where CV are 1000-2000 km from the coast) CV has no 100% protection towards massive saturation missile attacks..which will sooner or later sink the carrier.. so i think it will go into stealth ..all doctrines, smaller radar signature ships, missiles who are stealthy, low IR signatures, reduced noise pollution, passive radars and LPI radars, and missiles with a range of 200-300 km which are stealthy and can go hypersonic after acquiring the target.. problem as i see it are CVs.. they are too huge.. hard to "hide" it on open ocean or ship naval yards.. these days its easy to track each CV in the world 24/7 by satellites and other passive sensors.. .. in case of conflagration if CV dares to come 1000km close to the beach of the enemy it risks potential surprise saturation attack that will bring it down.. CVs is too big and too expansive to be lost, its just too valuable..and in military you want to avoid such things ..since war is a business where things blow up and get destroyed on daily basis.. many people have argued what would happen if 1, one alone CV of USN would be lost? i mean, politically what would that mean? can you imagine the newspapers, headlines? USN carrier sunk to the bottom of the ocean, 5000 sailors dead, 70 planes destroyed?!?! ..US would retaliate with nukes.. so, how can a CV be such a awesome weapon that you can't afford loosing it without going completely berserk afterwards? ... ergo, its sucks as a real valuable war weapon.. its good for intimidating lesser victims,.. but in a war scenario a big wasteful needy of protection target.. -
Russian Air Force Photos and Video (NO DISCUSSION)
Kaktus29 replied to Flаnker's topic in Military and Aviation
problem is Army decided for twin-seat shark.. so the single seat which they made 4 i think are left to well not rot exactly, but left in strategic reserve. .their rotors are safely put away, most of the chopper is protected from the elements and unless there is extreme need for choppers this thing will be like this..mothballed .. as long as Ka-52 get produced in larger numbers then Ka-50 can rest in peace knowing it did the job good enough to convince the army not to abandon his cousin at least.. -
a video about an amazing Russian soldier getting away with being get this-shot in the head!.. His comrades do field "surgery" -if one can call it that, but its a warzone(back in 2000,Chechnya campaign) .. the bullet seems quite whole and not really fractured which means, it could be just a stray bullet fired from a long long distance and has lost energy? or, it has ricochet from the ground but remained mostly whole and in composition.. one way or another.. this soldier is one tough SoB, able to sustain and endure..plus he didn't feel any fear or pain, laughed his way off this what could have been his last afternoon .. amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cys6my-H7k And some people still think Russia can be defeated in a war??)) Russia:where a soldier stops a bullet))
-
actually come to think about it DCS:Pacific '41-'45 ..could be nice to do, especially since no Theater is needed, just losts of effin ocean)) .. so a little bit weather simulation and ocean-wave states that would change from 1-5 according to the weather..and CV with jap and US planes.. and a very non-dcs-simulated battleships and destroyers, and subs to just get the right atmosphere if the era.. not really need for DCS hardcore every bolt simulated stuff for the ships..
-
i guess Russia takes border control with georgia seriously.. star-wars seriously))
-
can't wait to see this beauty operational .. looks great so far..
-
as far as i know a chopper can fly above 8000 meters.. a russian one broke the record a year ago..but not mi-8, it was mi-38 http://www.arabianaerospace.aero/mi-38-sets-altitude-record-at-world-helicopter-championships.html record altitude choppers can make now stands at 8600 meters!!!

Pantsir S-1 Model (Not DCS-ready)
Kaktus29 replied to dawestsides's topic in 3D Modeling for DCS World
how can this be integrated in DCS World? like a mod or a fully simulated AI machine.. that will simulate the abilities of Pantsir ? .. if so, this thing will be a beast, taking down everything from missiles, cruise missiles, bombs, )) .. we will need to simulate glide bombs to make it economical to overpower this machine or else the Blue team is in trouble.. i do dream of DCS:Pantsir though ))would be lovely.. driving around, getting EW data-links and determining when to set up a trap to some planes who dare to invade our airspace)) .. -
yeah, we should be patient.. it is what is is, .. ED is not a huuuge team that could as we might enjoy and like make such progress with the speed that we would like-2-5 months.. but instead things get dragged to 12-18 months instead.. we have to accept this as a fact of life.. if we would be dealing with a company with a much bigger client base and much higher profits it would mean much more staff, engineers, and money to spend and get projects done faster, like 3-6 months.. i'm okei with this... once one accepts this limitation it gets better, but not before..
-
@Rotorhead.. yeah i know, MAJOR engine overhaul would be needed..not just engine overhaul but the whole way how game functions.. it would be totally different game, maybe it should have totally new name like CHS: Kiev, or Berlin etc.. (CHS-Civilian Helicopter Service.. that's why market analysis would be needed to see how big the mkt is, who is your competitor if any, who are potential partners, and then how much can you get from it if you partner in with someone..since ED would have big problems trying to do this project all on its own.. they need a partner in this area, in the area of business, city management games.. this company would provide the "gameplay" , while ED would provide the helos. .. problem is that would make ED make substantially less money than if they would own the franchise on their own.. they already got burned with ubisoft.. last thing they need is "another" partnership when the other side sits on their ass while taking money to the bank.. Anyway, just i would love such a game, ... and not some arcade simcopter stuff.. serious simulation like DCS type..in protocols, comms, respond time to get the helo engines up, ATC contacts, police-medical-fire fighting service contacts while flying, coordinating.. so lots of work yet beautiful scenery, interaction on the ground.. oh boy, i can dream though, i can dream.. oh .. almost forgot.. Police helicopter ))) you'd be the one police calls when there is that one dude driving like mad thinking he can get away from the police..and you'd be that helo-pilot filming his ultimate futile attempts to dodge the cops))

nice comments.. yeah, this civilian chopper rescue stuff is amazing, it hold much potential.. and implementing it with DCS machinery is well, never been done.. there is huge amount of stuff one can do besides rescuing car crash victims, or searching for a couple who got lost in the mountains, or sea.. like construction building with the help of a heli bringing the material to some high place-building or mountain, fire-fighting in the city or the woods (here with fire simulation its hard, this hasn't been done yet so i can only wonder how much work it would need to be put to make a fire "spread" accordingly to wind, humidity, heat etc.. But just imagining being a pilot, having the "trainings" every day to get proficient at this or that mission and than getting "The Call" when a real emergency happened and you have to perform without mistakes.. just thinking about landing on a small spot in the middle of the city to pick up car crash victims is haunting..especially after the Huey experience where landing exactly on 4X4 meters space is quite a challenge.. A heli could be fitted with night vision so you can perform the mission at night as well, pick up ski-resort victims who thought jumping with their skies is a smart idea.. but the whole idea topped with a "growing" city, where construction companies might build an actual building in the simulated city and you would be a part of that, day in day out..you would be a part of a new building rising to the top.. and after its done, everyday you fly by it you say.. ha, i helped build that.. When it comes to military simulation the scenery isn't so important..would we enjoy better scenery?of course, but what is more important is missile dynamics, bomb destruction, tactics, etc.. since its military simulation.. here its civilian, so no need to put details on those not important stuff.. only civilian scenery and roads, vehicles, .i mean imagine flying above the highway, autobahn in germany.. flying on intercept to a major car pile up where there have been reported multiple injuries etc.. and then trying to find a spot to land.. seeing how medical staff from heli jumps out and runs to the car crash scene.. your blades go "whop whop whop whop".. they bring 2 seriously injured people with stretchers back and yell to you GO.. and race against time starts .. you get to hear what are the injuries, how severe etc.. so its a whole new experience that is not possible in military situation.. The company idea is just a surplus for those who might want to do managing stuff.. it could be interesting in MP.. like.. the company you pick is like a team you have.. pilots in the company get calls from dispatch to emergency.. and depending how good the squad is the more reputation they get and more "money" to improve their helos.. this is for mp madness gameplay.. where we would see teams run to different emergencies and try to alleviate the problem faster than anybody else)) its fun.. but most of the allure is in scenery immersion.. and the fact you don't need a huge theatre like you need in military sims... a 40*60km map is more than enough and you can make amazing quality of traffic, roads, buildings, business centres with today's CPU and GPU.. the point is.. i would like not ED to miss this chance... don't just stick with military products that are very hard to do anyway.. i like them as all war flying simmers but i also know civilian heli sim is much easier to do (from the perspective of simulating equipment ) and all the hard work is concentrating on the gameplay, interface.. missions, traffic algorithms .. and seeing the ambulance on the ground go active when accidents happen.. or construction trucks driving to a new high-rise building you are also carrying a new steel beam or something.. I think DCS: Civilian Helios would make a BLAST on the market.. maybe even more so than military DCS..
-
maybe ED should team up with Euro train simulator guys.. or someone in the business of simulating city development games so all ED would have to do is provide with flight modules while the rest is done by them.. of course bargaining for percentage points would be troublesome..who gets how much? 30:70? for ED or 40:60? even if ED gets 30% or 35% it would mean more income while their modules get exposure thus making an advertisement that is free of charge actually that is paid to them for making it..
-
i think why its hard to transfer A-10A and Su-25A to DCS is you have to do something to call it a "new" project.. if ED would just transfer them to DCS to no cost to the customers who bought FC3 for instance.. Ubisoft would raise the alarm of intelectual "theft" and ED would be in trouble.. ED needs to ADD something like 6DOF or AFM or even the smallest change so in case this goes to court they can prove this is a NEW product belonging to DCS franchise and has nothing to do with FC3 and LockOn respectively.. But i think this tranfer is needed, especially for the new customers who are just entering into the ED realm.. why waste money with customers buying lockon, than flaming cliffs, FC2, FC3 etc.. at every step bleed some profits to Ubisoft who are seating pretty and making money with no effort whatsoever. I'm all for the transfer to DCS.. but something will need to be "added" to the modules to make it bulletproof to ubisoft whining on court if it comes to proving intellectual property..

although it would be funny to watch us simmers try to land this mother on a small spot inside a city with all the traffic and all.. of course such a game should be in a much smaller theatre than now, something like 30x50km space.. so you have your mega-city modelled (Kiev, Warsaw, or Berlin etc) and surrounding villages and inter-town roads.. with a much higher fidelity than DCS maybe even better fidelity than Arma.. i mean, what i'm trying to say is, ED is hardly taking advantage of their products in a gaming sense... they make great simulated machines-Belsimtek included of course, but i think they have trouble Game-inizing them in a proper way.. in civilian heli arena one need totally new interface with all kinds of interesting stuff like(heli management game, where you have other firms in the city offering rides in helis as well, so you have money management kinda game coupled with flying the heli, buying new models, or buying addons that make the heli more capable, more multirole, like you start with normal Mi-8, than hauls cargo, then you can buy the medical upgrade and you get more money to serve the hospitals, or buy the fire-extinguishing equipment to put out fires in high-rise buildings or forests.. the fact remains this is a sphere of the gaming world not really simulated machine world.. DCS performs greatly to provide a highly detailed machine..not so much when it comes to the actual gaming world with all the nuances that draws the player in to make more "game money, respect, points, or whatever.. this is whats needed to draw other non-simmers in the game.. and i think there is allot of money to be made in such a market.. i know by a fact many people that would enjoy a non-military simulation but a much more interesting civilian stuff and management and money stuff involved in the sim game so to be more immersive .. to think how many people played and still are playing managment games where you manage railways, city building, transport building(bus lanes, trams, etc..) to actually have the ability to start as a pilot and earn "money" for each delivery.. get a loan at a bank, buy a better addon for the heli, get a better job, get more money, buy another heli etc.. get a new pilot employed to work for you, ..do some other stuff that can be thought of by game developers to make it more interesting to battle other heli-offers by your competition in the mega-city and become the best company that offers heli-transport, medical emergency services etc.. of course its not needed to be exactly like this, just trying to picture a civilian managemet simulation actualy simmer flying and immersive gameplay that would draw in a much bigger audiance than hardcore military simmers .. which means much more $$$ intake flows and even more heli offered to us.. so many choppers only one Arnold to yell.. aawwww.. "Get to the chopper(s?))

i just thought of an idea.. DCS could implement a whole new game although it would take energy, money and from this perspective could not be a wise investment..but hear me out.. piloting the medical Huey or Hippo in a big city.. you are stationed in big Hospital with their H-landing place and go after heavy accident places to pick up the injured people and bring them to hospital.. you would be rated by speed, comfort of piloting the victims.. and bringing them safely to hospital regardless of weather, day/night etc.. We had something like that in the SimCopter or whatever the game was called, i would enjoy it again.. with DCS quality.. wow, we can do Fire-Extinguishing chopper, medical chopper, what else.. mountain rescue.. civilian cargo carrier ..
-
Oh God Belsimtek.. you gonna make ED blush)) lol.. fantastic work.. and just like that, no holidays, no rest period after a hard labour of making the Huey.. Damm this is the Hippo .. the best chopper for me, seen it thousands of time already in real life. and now to fly it.. yes, Mi-8 come to papa..
-
the korean scenario only works if we are talking the 1951 conflict.. if we look at modern times like today this is nonsense.. you have F-22 on one side and Mig-17 on other side.. who can enjoy this? i mean i like to have a challenge.. beating down a nation that is about to starve to death can't be "tough" for our simmers right?.. If we are doing an asian modern conflict we could do a "limited Chin-Jap scenario" without US involvement .. sea action, some amphibious island hopping and resolution based on combat results signed cease-fire in 5-10 days..
-
F-4 without even thinking about it.. a classic fighter, bomber, tactical plane, carrier ops, strong and powerful ..and also we are already getting DCS Mig-21 so this is what we need to complete the circle for a skeleton crew for Vietnam theatre ))) F-4,Mig-21,Huey, .. what else do we need? SA-2,3 ..and we are off to go.. oh and a map.. you see, we are almost there already))lol.. but i would be happy if we get when time is right of course a real detailed DCS:Vietnam experience..
-
sand and desert, desert and sand equals boring gameplay.. i love to see modern cities and some infantry, armoured brigades duking it out and needed actual CAS to tip the battle their way, which means battle for the skies is needed and all the rest of the air power comes to play while we get to enjoy the landscape and diversity of European theatre .. about Germany) i know they are not occupied in the normal sense of the word, but having troops in the nation that is fully industrialized and weaponized and with huge economic power and output equals "occupied" in the sense foreign policy is drawn to US even if Germany would not agree with US.. thats the magic of military bases.. US bases in Germany are not there to protect Germany from an invasion from Poland or Denmark.. Its political control that comes from having boots on the ground..as such its quite humiliating affair that after 70 years after 2WW Germany still entertains US troops.. Italy same situation.. US bases are though moving eastwards, closer to Russia so maybe Germany gets a break in the future..will see.. About realistic campaigns.. well, i wouldn't say a potential conflict in EU is not realistic... it hold much more potential than slamming some arab nation that already all are under the "roof" of US now.. only Iran and Syria are out of the "bloc"..and Syria is in trouble surrounded by US proxy nations.. the probability or the need for war on Iran diminishes by the day.. while whole geo-strategic balance of power still slips towards the East , meaning economic deterioration in the West and break-ups that come with it..
-
@buzzpilot.. yeah i got it, finally.. after playing with all kind of combination for 30 minutes))lol.. tnx for the effort to help me though.. much appreciated..
