  1. IIRC it was supposed to cover the Nellis AFB/Las Vegas area of course (including Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam) and go up all the way north to Groom Lake. Also I believe Reno was to be included as well (my memory is really hazy here though, might be very wrong), so that would pretty much cover around two thirds of the state of Nevada. Who knows what the current situation is though since they started over from scratch. Maybe it´s just Nellis AFB itself plus Las Vegas, maybe it´s everything from San Francisco to Denver. ;) Hey, don´t be dissin´ that avatar of mine, it´s my lucky charm! :D It´s proudly displayed on the back of my helmet and has accompanied me through a number of hairy situations. Also it survived a number of superiors already who all wanted to see it gone from my helmet. Naw, that baby is here to stay! :devil_2: As for the first piece of bread, I eat it too, but using MSIE? Come on man, there are limits to everything!
  2. Nothing happens except for the terrain becoming flat and featureless. You can try it easily, just start at Tbilisi and go on an eastbound heading. You´ll reach the end of the map within just a few minutes.
  3. Rumor has it there are times I can´t control the aircraft even though I am fully conscious... :prop:
  4. So you can see the stick in the device manager but not in the game? Is it just that you cannot see the stick in the options menu, or does it also not work in the game itself (in other words, can you actually fly around with it?)?
  5. Dunno, but Alan´s snackbar sure does seem to be popular over there. I reckon they crank out one mean bacon burger or something...
  6. Sounds like vodoo, but try swapping the USB connectors. I use a powered USB hub with four connectors. My MFDs plug into the first and last one, and the stick and the throttle go into the two middle ones. Now for some reason sometimes my stick isn´t recognized either, and what I do is just unplug both stick and throttle and reconnect them again crosswise, so the stick goes into the connector that the throttle was plugged into and vice versa. Always does the trick. As for what´s causing it - I have no idea.
  7. Well, the manual states (page 159):
  8. Didn´t know the Luftwaffe flew Corsairs in WW2. ;) Oh, and flying them off your carriers before us must have been quite a difficult task, as our grand total of carriers in WW2 was a whopping zero. :D
  9. #10 hardware? Is that one of those weird imperial measures?
  10. Well, according to my caliper (which is about a million years old) the holes have a diameter of 5.75mm. Therefore your best bet would probably be M5 size nuts and bolts.
  11. Love that scene. No matter how often you watch it, it never ceases to be funny as heck. I usually lose it at: "Would you stop talking about the war?" "Me? You started it!" "We did not start it!" "Yes you did, you invaded Poland!" Brilliant comedy. :) A Corsair sure would be nice though. Maybe with some naval ops thrown in for good measure? Yummy!
  12. Actually it covers parts of Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan (sp?), Russia and a tiny little bit of Ukraine as well.
  13. Pfff... you Brits won´t get your bloody Spitfire because you lost the war. Umm, wait... :poster_oops:
  14. If you wanna start learning the A-10C, do yourself a favor and order the printed manual here. You can thank me later. :D
  15. Man, that Bone sure did wobble around all over the place! Awesome machine... the only bomber pretending to be a fighter. :D
  16. Thrustmaster has been a division of Guillemot since 2001.
  17. I live a little north of Hannover (Neustadt, you probably know it Yurgon), which is kind of aviation heaven. Just a few clicks south of the NIE VOR, which has a LOT of traffic going over it while also doubling as IAF for the Hannover airport when rwys 09L/R and 27L/R are in use, plus it is part of the SID and STAR of every single runway. So yeah, you can see quite a lot of neat traffic here, especially when one of the big fairs is taking place (Hannover sports the largest fairground in the world and is host to huge fairs like the CeBit). Also, right next door we have the Lufttransportgeschwader (Air Lift Wing) 62 with a number of helicopters and of course the good old C-160 Transall. It´s a real treat to see them practice low level flights over the city and nearby countryside. I remember one time sitting in the line of a drive-thru at McDonald´s, waiting to place my order, when all of a sudden I hear this typical low growl of the Transall. Apparently it used the McD´s as a fix of some sort, because it was circling right around it at maybe 300ft. I was actually unbuckling my seat belt and opening the sunroof so I could stick my head through it and watch that beautiful machine. I don´t know how long I watched it, but when people behind me started hitting their horns and yelling certain not-so-nice words towards me I figured I better get my head back inside. :D Btw, LTG 62 has one of the funniest patches I have ever seen. I really wonder what the story behind it is. Can´t wait for them to receive the A-400M soon, just so I have yet another type to stare at. ;)
  18. Very sad to see them go. :( What a fitting idea to have their last flight take them to the Fulda Gap. If I can manage to swap shifts I might actually drive down there to see the last four machines depart on friday. It´s a good five hour drive from my place, but it´ll probably be the last chance to see an A-10 in Europe. :(
  19. Dunno... looking over to FSX & Co, there sure are a ton of people who (virtually) fly across the Atlantic once a week or who do a transcon flight in the US. VATSIM even hosts a yearly "Cross the Pond" event, and it´s by far the most popular event they have. There hasn´t been a single post in this thread made by an ED staff member. Moderators and Testers are regular users like you and me, except they moderate these forums and/or test the software before the unwashed masses get it in their hands.
  20. Huh? What? I´m here already... :D
  21. Let´s just hope that didn´t happen over a combat zone. Would be kinda awkward (to say the least) to be the only guy floating down towards the enemy... :D
  22. Wow BBall, great to see you here! Not sure if you remember me, but we interacted quite a bit back in the day over at Frugal´s World. Well, you probably don´t remember, since it´s been what, ten or so years by now? Also I haven´t really been active in the simming community in between the days of Falcon 4.0 and when DCS A-10 came out, so yeah... Anyway, loved your story, as always. Do you still happen to have all those awesome essays you posted at Frugal´s? Maybe the crowd here would appreciate them as well. Back in the day the word was you were actually thinking about putting together a book, are you still pursuing those plans? If so, where can I preorder? ;) Again, great to see you here, and thanks for telling your stories. They are always a real treat to read. Should you ever make it to Germany (I understand your a/c type serves two destinations over here, not sure if you fly those routes though), any place in Germany, drop me a line and I´ll make sure you won´t have to pay for a single drink while you´re here. ;)
