All good points guys. I have made missions without scripting. Spawning troops when a truck stops and so on. I am very new here. In my example the convoy would be following a road so it wouldn't be hard to find. Then when attacked, troops get out to fight. The trick is you don't know where they will be at the moment the Huey's catch up to them right. I have looked at the Dismount script. But I don't know how to add it to my mission. I'm not asking to have a mission built so we can fly it. It's so we have the most simple example to help learn how to insert a script. Keep in mind that I am not the only one struggling to learn this stuff. Others will benefit too. Thanks Menessis

I still don't see how it all ties together :( Menessis

Well ............get ready Peter! I have been flying sims for a long time and I have been using the "bicycle" way of doing things. Don't hurt yourself laughing! :( Now I have to re learn what to do with my feet! OMG! One embarrassed Menessis P.S. this is just between you and me right?

Cool, I will have a look. My idea was that it would be a very simple mission to pull apart to see how it all works. Menessis

OK come on guys! Some one needs to take this project on. It will be a learning tool for all DCS users. Menessis

Well I didn't even think to test the other pot. Never used the toe brakes......That thing is pretty flakey! Looks like I have to take it apart again. BTW another thing that has always bothered me is this. My pedals have always been backwards. I have to reverse the axis "in game" to make them work. The weird part is I step on the rudder and they work like they should. But the pedals in the 3D pit are opposite????? So when I had them apart I plugged the wire into the opposite unused terminal. They work opposite to what they did but when I changed it in the setup the 3D pedals are backwards again. Menessis

Thanks guys. I pulled it apart. I found that the wires going to the toe brake was broken. Fixed that and then had the idea to swap the pot from the toe brake to the axis. The ohm meter showed dead spots all over the place on the original. So it's back together now but not tested. Menessis

My very old CH Pro Pedels (non USB) are only giving me left rudder. Where do I start to trouble shoot them? Thanks Menessis

More Help!!!! OK I have been busy trying to learn to fly the Huey. Now I am back to trying to figure out this scripting! I am reading the Tutorial.... http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Simulator_Scripting_Engine_%28DCS:_World_1.2.1%29 So far so good. I was talking with a friend about all this and we both agree that if we had an example of a simple working mission with a trigger and a script so we could follow along and see how it all fits together would be great. Having said this maybe someone can take this idea and build this little mission along with the script so we can download it and learn. I am thinking a couple of Hueys are tasked with stopping a convoy of APC's and troop trucks. One APC in lead 5 or 6 trucks and one more APC. The convoy is traveling by road, 8 or 10 miles out moving towards an air base. So you jump in and get the radio call to head off in what ever direction to find the convoy and destroy it. A trigger is set so that when any of the vehicles get hit that the remaining ones disperse, come to a stop and the troops jump out and defend the convoy. So a unit is hit and the script takes over. Any takers willing to help us out? Thanks Menessis

Does any one know if the "open Doors" will work to trigger the script? Seems like a good idea to me. Menessis

Hi M Bot. What tutorials did you read? Thanks Menenssis

Are there any tutorials that I can get to help me learn how to build missions. I have played around with the some simple triggers and zones but could use some help. Thanks Menessis

Low Cost Hallsensor mod for Cougar
Menessis replied to seveng-f18.com's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks Guys. When I ordered from DigiKey, they didn't have the 1302's in stock. But now I see they do. I have to order some other things too. So I will try one and see what happens. Menessis -
Low Cost Hallsensor mod for Cougar
Menessis replied to seveng-f18.com's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well here is what is happening in my case. Solder up the hall sensor. I used a HoneyWell 480-3591-nd. Same one I used on the stick. I used two 1/4" magnets placed on each side of sensor. I don't get any response. I unplug the sensor from the throttle and plug it in the "x" axis on my stick, pass a magnet by it and it works. So it works in the stick but not the throttle. Then I put the pot back on the throttle and it works, so the throttle is not burned out. The sensor works, but not in the throttle. What's left? I check the voltage to see what was there and found 3.9 volts. Then I check the specs on that sensor it says 4.5 minimum. The Alegro 1302 is about the same spec. I don't think there is enough voltage. But don't know what to try next. Menessis -

Throttle Problems I put a hall sensor in my throttle. Cant get it to work. Meanwhile I put one on the Y axis on my stick. Works fine. So I ordered a couple more sensors. I gave it another try. But no go. I tried it on the Y axis and it works, move it over to the throttle and no go! It's not the magnets because I checked that. One thing I have found is that the voltage at the throttle is only 3.9 volts. The sensors require 4.5 volts! And it seems that brown is negative and orange is positive ! On the x and y axis brown is positive. I don't get it???? Menessis -

Hi sebbomann! I seen your mod on the throttle and gave it a try. It was going well until I realized the magnet I had was too big to fit in that small space. I'm wondering if it matters much how strong the magnet is? Menessis -
Well never did come up with a schematic. He took apart a ps/2 cable that had the same colours. And did it that way. All is good. Menessis
-
So what's the deal. Is the schematic top secret or something? Menessis
-
I need to know the pinouts for the wires that run between the ps/2 and the circuit board. A friend pulled the wires off when he took it apart to add grease! I compared it to the cougar and I think it's the same connector but the wire colours are different. That would have been to easy. Menessis

Can't get Cougar working, tried everything..

Ya that utility is cool. But at the same time you need to know what you are looking at. This is what I am trying now. I picked up a USB 3.0 pci card today. Dropped that thing in. Did a clean install. Don't forget to clean the registry too. Follow Cubby's directions. All works like it should! The question is why?\ BTW I have this utility called "Your Unin-Staller". It uninstalls like normal then it kicks in and goes through the registry. Cleaned out 17 entries. I still want to clean out that onboard usb controller though. Menessis -

Hey PoleCat I did follow Cubby's guide the first time. And it did work for a couple of days. But then I updated the win7 to SP-1, and got the TIR goiing. Next thing I know....no kitty. I wonder if our problems are related to the usb controlers. I also wonder if there is a way to clear the system of all the old devices that were once plugged into the usb ports. Menessis -

OK Chefer you may be onto something. I checked my Device Manager and I do have 2 HID Keyboards in there. I unplugged my keyboard and one entry went away. Now I don't understand what I should do with the other?? I tried to update the driver and win7 is sure it's a keyboard. How do I compare? Or can I just uninstall it? Thanks Menessis -

Cougar Hey Hollywood I did the same thing and it worked for a while. But Now I'm back to the device detection error. Menessis
