If you don't want to make your own,, you can download other people's missions, and you can also take single player missions, and convert to coop.. but I think that has already been mentioned in these forums..
would also have to get permission, to post missions that were downloaded, that were made by other pilots....

I remember reading the engines are dereated to improve their service life... But for the life of me I cannot find the reference. The CFM-56 Was developed for the commercial industry and might have something to do with the difference... However, If you ask one of your pilots, (KC-135 Right?) They will tell you they seldom use 100% N1. They maximize takeoff data based on runway available...Flap setting...Temp & Pressure altitude etc, so the can use less engine to get airborne and have thrust available in an emergency if something happens.
Gadgets
KC-135 also uses water injection (demineralized) for lift in certain weather conditions...

You didn't try to set the FM frequency too high or the AM frequency too low did you? That can cause that problem.
The first radio was set to 123 MHZ AM ( Airbase), Radio #2 was set to: 131 MHZ FM (J-TAC).
Later, I was tuning the 2nd radio and as I passed the dial from say 3 to about 8 on the dial, on the way to 13 (second dial to #1) the sqeal went crazy...
I never ever had this happen before from the A-10C radios... not sure why my post was moved, it after all was all A-10C equipemnt, not my computer hardware that freaked out... my computer was perfectly fine... as I tried shutting off speakers and the sqeal persisited though any set of speakers, or just my headset..

wow,, my spelling was terrible last night (My hands must have been really shaking bad..)...... I will correct them now..
-----
thought i had horrible speaker feedback with A-10C, but.., and thought my computer sound got really meesed up,a nd had a horrible sqeal when I was trying to play a mission with friends and A10-C. We had a couple bases and also some J-TAC controllers out in the mission...
I could not fly becuase of the horrific sqealing out of my speakers.. long story short, it turned out when I was tuning in radio #2 to the J-TAC frequency, it triggered some radio feedback between the two radios in my A-10C, Radio #1 was set to the base control tower, and Radio #2, was J-TAC...
very weird, never had that problem,,, anyways, all I had to do was to not go through a few frequencies while tuning to the frequencies we were using, but I wasted an hour finding all this out.. I never had this feedback happen in the A-10C radios ever before...
the horrific ear splitting feedback was like when you bring a microphone too close to speakers...

Now that'd be an amazing feature...
while you are trying to announciate the words, 'oh' crap!, fire anything and everything !' the telephone pole sized missles have traveled 5 miles...
btw, I tried that vac stuff many years ago with several flight sims...
in the 1990's and in the 2000's...
it is not as easy as you think to make it work, the more controls, the more commands... and you must 'train' the software to understand you...

maybe pilots who fly tail draggers or if we are really fortunate, a real P-51 pilots will chime in on stall speeds for landing, and takeoffs...
I know of several real pilots, who have flown wwii planes, during Korea...
unfortunately neither has the P-51 currently, so they can't comment. I am not sure if they plan on buying P-51D, as they currently fly IL-2 series, but are slwoing down with flying a smuch as they used to...
One of them loves to do the engineering aspects, mathematics, and explain stuff from both engineering and real life experience, from Props and Jets in their careers... he also flew planes in the navy off carriers, and knows a lot about stall speeds in wwii and Korea error aircraft.. but, for now, I have to rely on the forums, and from everyone's experience that posts here..
I have flown in real life, but didn't take off and land, and all the other aircraft I was a passenger while in the USAF.
I really don't want to bring my calculator out to take off and land... if the manual says 120 mph (IAS ?) and flair, and cut power to 90 mph,, fine, I will work on that.. It is just that I had questions about the stall speeds... and dropping wings at stall speeds, etc...
I understand it is Beta, and things can change... I appreciate all the info from all points of view.. While flying witha joystick, on a desk, in 2d looking at a computer monitor, with no feedback fromt he stick, and a very shaky hand makes it hard to get the best take-offs and landings... The DCS series has the best modelled flight sims every made, at least for the end user entusiast.... I was really wondering if in real life, in the P-51D, is with 30% fuel, no weapons, no wind, actaully performs a good landing without dropping a wing at 100 mph (IAS ?). ? Or does the wing drop at 120 mph? or 90 mph? I know in the sim, my P-51D Beta seems to be on the knife's edge of dropping a wing at slightly above those speeds... it's very hard to tell, because my eyes are so damned busy trying to keep the plane from dropping a wing, I can't watch the gauges when I am almost ready to touch down, I am watching too many things to concentrate on a couple of gauges..
And if I feel that I am going to be a bolter, then I have to make sure I can do that successfully and come back around.. which means I have to anticipate having ot gather engine power and keep the plane leve as I powe rit back up just at tha tpoint where I have commited to land..
So, That is why I was asking about stall speeds.. charts are great sources of information... but most of th e hcarts have to deal with actual in flight higher altitude and higher speeds. I think more about take-offs and landings.
I can feel the stall speeds, with a joystick and a monitor while I fly, drop weapons,a nd dogfights,,, but I find it much harder to take off and land. Actually, landings are my weakest part of flying... The stall speed when landing is hard for me. Shaky hands makes it very hard. Yes, I knwo there are easy settings... but if everyone on the server want's the most realistic settings I can appreciate that.. and expect that.
So, that is what I am looking for when people post about stall speeds.
Thanx for all the info you guys have.. Hopefully a real P-51 Pilot can chime in with landing info.. That should be very interesting..
IMHO

I looked (and read) the graphs, and looked up several websites about speeds, ias, etc...
is there a way in the P-51D to set a gauge to have a hashmark, a setting, that will show when you reach a presetting for say landings, take-offs, etc...
A needle mark (red?), an alarm? etc..
example: in the Ka-50 I like to set a hover height, that if I hit that setting an alarm goes off.. telling me I have reached my pre-set altitude alarm setting...
Or is it back to guestimating,,, I doubt if I will be taking out my scientific calculator anytime soon everytime I fly my combat sims..

P-51D Stall Speed?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P-51_Mustang
When I fly, it feels like the stall speed is higher than what the documents say.. I don't have charts and stuff from my own experience, but it sure starts to be unstable long before the speed drops to near 100 mph..
Is there already talk about this?
I did a search and stall speed comes up in different contexts.. for differing reasons..

I had to center my joystick more in front of me,,,, or i have to roll my chair so the stick is more center,, if my hand and wrist pulls the still slightly off center , the landings are bad... and even with a curve ont he stick settings to soften the stick curve.... it still takes a steady stick.. my other flight sims are more forgiving... on the takeoffs and landings..

watched your track ram. i suggest starting your decent from above 1000 ft, and gliding her in more. without letting speed drop as much, you had a lot of throttle work that isnt generally necessary but you had to keep her from goin into the ground with it. the torque it produces nearly sends it oscillating but you certainly held it ! \o/ i thought you were initially going for a 2 wheel landing at first. powered glide thats how i percieve my landing style.
as usal, like everything need practice.. .. I was thinking, it should would be nice for a 3 mph headwind.. but yes, it needs work... (I need work..)
-
sorry Rams, but I can't get your trak to play... it just gives me a black screen (any other trak plays fine though) - interesting
hmmm... weird... not sure why it only gave black screen... gotta find out who else has this problems with some traks.. I have that problem with some traks before also... I don't remember why...
-
my trak, for take-offs and landings.. not perfect, but better...
:joystick:
I had my joystick off to the right side, and it was causing me to have to strain my body to make the stick go straight back and forrth, it is now in front of me (up high though, on the desk), slightly to the right by a only a few inches, but better than when it was on my right side..,, I moved my mouse over on the right...
my other stick (Saitek HOTAS) part, the throttle, is on my left..
plus remembering to keep the engine rmp down to 2700 has helped a whole bunch..
now to see how the stick adjustment in positions is going to affect all of my flight sims..

Sometimes, unless I start froma fresh boot, or just the first start of P-51D, and just start to fly... poof.. CTD.. attached is log file..
note: it was a single player mission when this ctd happened....
Win7 x64
Nvidia GTX 460 video card
MSI P7N Motherboard
DDR2 ram 4 gb
Cure2duo 2.93 ghx cpu
650 watt power supply
Saitek X52 Pro Stick and pedals
it says my log file is invalid. I changed the extension from log to txt..to a txt file.. hopefully it won't complain..

Ramstein, so is that really you in all those chemical story links? Assholes, excuse my French! So sad, what on earth must you do to get benefits? You've just made me late for my work, reading all this, shocked. Hang un ther
well, if you want to chat, I can on TeamSpeak sometime,, if you want to know.. I can't go into that here.. though I doubt anyone would want to hear the story.. unless you want info for personal reasons, or someone can use the info to help them that has problems..
I appreciate that you care.. my spirits have some tough times, where good words help..

How do I use Black Shark 2 Upgrade with World? I'm getting an invalid hardware code error because I used the standard Black Shark 2 patch for World... but it doesn't work.
How on earth can I use the upgrade? It's the same program, but not patch for it?
You don't,... BS2, at this time does not work with DCS World,,, and there is not time frame on when it might be fixed.. only the full BS2 version works with it...
I know, it is a big bummer, I am in the same boat along with others..
just keep the fait... Theya re probably working on it.. I have no clue why it doesn't work,,, puzzled like everyone else..

I figured out my biggest problem,, I went back and played the training film again for landing,, I wasn't setting my engine RPM down to 2700,, once I did that all is well.. and the number I set on the axis tune is '7', seems to be the best for me (axis like pitch, roll, rudder..).. I had a great landing once I adjusted my engine properly...
I forgot about the engine @2700 rpm.... now all is well..
thanx for the jumpstart..

I had a terrible landing, but it was the best I could do today... I am embarrased to show it, I have hoenestly had much better ones in the past days, but I am for some reason getting worse,, here is one...
I gave up on trim, and as I said if I tried to glide in and flair below 140 mph, it just goes bad...
-
hopefully by tomorrow I will post a P-51D landing trak...
tired now and will be busy tomorrow... but will try a.s.ap.... I want to give it a good effort..

I don't do so bad on taking off with light or heavy loads, it's the landing I need help... I find the stall speed a bit to high... I really try to get it down to about 120 mph, hell even 130 mph, but it seems it starts losing balance and dropping at 140 mph.. I have tried various combinations of flaps, wheels and flaps, etc..etc.. balance on the front wheels first, then dropping the rear wheel.. but, I just am having problems with the landing speed...
Anyone know of a place with good tips and videos on landing the P-51D ?
I have been flying flight sims for 15 years... and have experience on aicraft carriers too but, I am having problems with this one...
thanx..

I made this for all of us having trouble with takeoff.
haha lolol.... your off color remarks in your little movie were funny, it sounds like us when we are taking off on a carrier in IL-2, on a notoriously hard aircarft or loadout.... while we cuss when we get to the end of the ship...
LOLOL

I am curious about the rocket performance..
I fly with a squad in IL-2 1946,, and we often use rockets on ground attack.. a friend who flew early jets and wwii aircraft, like the Hellcat, Panther, etc.. has said that in IL-2 the rockets are not correct in IL-2. They should go further. In DCS: P-51D they don't seem to go far... before they start dropping. How correct are they in P-51D ? Are they still going to be tweaked?
Or, are they set correctly now? Since I never fired a rela one, I can only go on what others who have tell me..
Thanx..

when I have the cockpit closed it is very quiet in there, can barely hear the engine... outside it sounds normal...
the sound outside the plane sounds pretty close to real to me...
I have been next the the Merlin engine, but that was a Spitfire I was near.. That was at an airshow I worked at an airbase I was stationed at..
very smooth sounding engine...
(as opposed to German BF-109 engines who sound like the cam lobes have the engine loping..)... and backfiring sounds when in flight..

Please don't get mad, but any time frame for anymore addons? it would hlp me immensly, set a budget for some addons,, but i can't get many, for a while...
FC3? Next modern Jet?
Maps?
etc..
anyhints of timeframes, 3 months, 6months?
I know it taboo, but,, anymous info,, (no bs please..)
I know al flight sim forums spaz out whn people ask about 'when" but it's we are 1/2 through 2012,, so it can't be more than 6 months, so I suppose the answer is maybe 6 months?
Keepup the great work..
I thing DCS is expanding and moving forward the whole flight sim world single handedly..
IMHO

the other companies should take note... you are doing it right and they flounder...
