I love my 37 incher I was amazed anyone said not to use one.
i have used a 46" lcd hdtv with hdmi cable since 2008,, actually since 2009, 2008, it sat dark while I lay in a hospital bed.. far away..
int he inter, it works great, but int he summer, I have to have an air conditioner nearby, because of the heat fromt he pc and tv in the small room, and I get fevers fromillness, so the tv cooks me fromt he front while the a/c blows cool air on my back..
basically, the 46" lcd tv puts out a lot of heat... you wouldn't know that if you just have it in a big room and sit far back...
also, you would think you woul see smal objects easier and rom further away, ubt it isn't the case, but it's still a big picture... and very enjoyable..
I don't have a smaller monitor, the last one I had (crt) burned out a couple years ago,, ad I won this lcd tv in a contest, just in time when I became bedridden and was unable to walk... or even fly or use a joystick,,,
but when my health improved it's been really nice to have a large screen...
but now I really need a better computer,, as mine is getting too old and is having hard time keeping up with the cpu and gpu power and specs for the newer flight sims..
enjoying the fact that the hdmi is just plug and play, no need to worry about setting size settings and such...

problem hasn't come back, I flew some more and didn't have the problem come back... just more weird stuff..

engines would not power down and lower rpm for landing. I hit a bunch of targets, came in to land, and engines would not lower the engine rpm and power enough to land,, they engines would just throttle up by themselves when I tried to land. As if they refused to slow down, and let the plane slow down, they kept the plane at abround 200 mph.. no matter what I tried, they just would not slow down, and drop power... I had two choices, abort mssion and kil the mission, or try to manually shut down the engines in flight..
I could apply more throttle to turn around and keep trying more approaches, but could never get it drop below around 180mph on the runway (Anapa),, it would just keep trying to power back up..
what went wrong,, and the fuel gauges were just above the 1. (large 1 on the fuel dials)
thanx..

pre-order would really help me, becasuse there are times I Have money, and other times none at all, and when I have it I could get way with a pre-order, but when I don't have it I am screwed... that's why it's sad not being able to pre-order when I could...

If you prefer flying: Black Shark :joystick:
If you prefer pressing buttons: A-10C :book:
Awesome: Both.
yeah,,,
prettt good post...
funny.. :P
it depends on your reaction time, you must have fast acting responses in the aircraft, the helo, you actually seem to have more time to think and move.. the A-10C is hurry hurry, go - go -go.. :pilotfly:
-
if after all that doesn't work, have you re-installed it yet? or, have you said I am going to keep trying? It might be easier to bite it, and do the re-load..

The stick, throttle hasn't screwed up since I did a few things, but it doens't mean it's totally fixed, but I hope doing the steps I did fixed the erratic throttle jumping up and down...
I made this profile, using Saitek SST software, and only used the A-10C default control settings and what was needed for Saitek X52 Pro and Saitek Pedals with Win7 X64.
I cleaned the PS/2 cable that runs fromt he stick to the throttle.
I plugged the stick and pedals USB cable into a USB self powered hub.
I made a Saitek X52 Pro A-10C profile. This uses Saitek SST software.
The only controls set in game are the default controls, in Sim setting, plus Setting for Saitek Rudder pedals. So, I have only set the Pitch, Roll, Collective, and Rudder.
All the rest of the commands I set are in the Saitek Profile (attached as a download, in a zipped file...).
It goes with wherever you put your profiles depending on your software.
Win7 X64, is what i use is in the User directory and files where the Saitek folder is.. with profiles..
I tried in game controls and wasn't happy with the outcome.
:joystick:
note: this profile is far from perfect, but it works...
feel free to do whatever..

well, I have flown about one hour without a problem so far,,, I was testing and found a bug, which turned out was already a known bug (different problem...unrelated to this) and my throttle hasn't screwed up.. maybe moving it from the back of the motherboard usb to the self power usb hub fixed my Saitek throttle running amuk...
or, maybe that I abondonded using in game controls and went back to the Saitek SST software contols...
I may never know..
:joystick::doh:
if I can get past all the nightmares, maybe i can actually fly...

Ramstein, once you are in the cockpit and the sim is started anyone you want to talk to must be on Tars as well. If not then you'll never hear them.
You may already know that, but just in case. Also, make sure your standby button isn't checked by clicking on DCS a-10
Also make sure your Tars plugin is checked in teamspeak settings plugins menu.
I wasn't using tars to speak to others, I was using it to commincate with ground radios, controls, tower, and awacs, etc..
There was only one other person who knew about Tars and they told me to not use it, they were hosting the mission.. they said it was causing me problems... and they were right..
we had about 6 people flying and on ts3..
I was using it to easily click through the radios, and had it on the other computer, not on the computer i was flying on..
as soon as I got rid of it, shut it down etc.. all my problems went away... with comms and ts3.. and everything..
-
I really like this utility, but I ran into problems..
offline, by msylef, all works great... the parts whenre I can choose to talk to different raios, ground, radions, air, whatever.. but when I get online with people on TeamSpeak, and run Tars, TeamSpeak stops, all goes bad..
I also ran Tars on a Laptop with TS3, and have TS3 on my gaming computer..
I ran network mode, and all worked well until I went only TeamSpeak online..with my freinds. Then, all went bad, the communication stopped..
yes, I set network mode up correctly with the correct inside ip to the computer that I run the flight sim on with TeamSpeak 3.
I really don't know why al is going bad, but I have no choice but to give up.. maybe I did something wrong, I really don't know..
we have a squad server, that is rented for our campaigns, and have teamspeak on a professional rented server..
we run campaigns all the time with large amounts of pilots several times per week.. many different flight sims.. but Tars just isn't working for me...
I want it to... I want to know why I have the problems.. I will read often to see if anyone has the problems and figures out what's wrong..

I really hope they don't. Just close beta with a range of people who know what they're talking about. The endless unhelpful posts in the forums probably just make the beta process more challenging and confusing.
did they tell you that's what happens with beta? :joystick:

Will there be a pre-P51 purchase avaiable at Beta stage?
Will there be a pre-P51 purchase avaiable at Beta stage?
thanx,, I apologize if this has already been asked..

To get range I lase for 2 seconds or so, basically one long hold of the NWS button.
The reason for the 8-10s autolase is to retain energy for the bomb to correct itself. An average drop seems to be 20-30 seconds or so of fall time so if you start to try to maneuver the bomb from the start of that it'll use up it's energy and drop short. So you only lase for the last few seconds off the drop.
see, these are the type of posts that help point me in the right direction..
I have no excuse for my dead brain cells, I am just trying to enjoy what's left..

while statied at Ramstein Airbase, I serviced their aircraft during a flight show 30 years ago.. I watched them practice over me for 3 days..
I asked them to personally sign a Red Arrows brochure for me, which I have in my collection of aircraft stuff..
They were very pleasant to do work for.
and I had the best seat there..
short of being in the plane..
wish I had the joystick but it's for Europe...
maybe someday..

I don't think there is a performance drain if you have a monitor that uses HDMI, my lcd tv 46" uses hdmi from my nvidia video card, and I don't think it uses any more resources than any video set at around 1152x864... but I never really found a way tpo test it, I guess I would have to setup a regualr lcd computer monitor and test the fps from each..
if size were the case my 46" lcd tv should have brought my 3 ghz win7, with gtx460 video card, which is an older computer to a crawl in fps.. but it runs fine.. so I figure hdmi doesn't hit the performance hard... plus, it's just plug and play...
no need to look for better settings..

some games like this show spiking, where other games show no problems at all.. would think all games would have the spiking,, and the weird thing is, I don't think it has bad pots, just errant signals.. I suspect the cable is bad in some place, not sure where. it's just too hard to track down where...
maybe too many commands, and if there is any delay, two commands may look like one command that has cobined, maing a command that causes bad things...
Maybe in A -10C a split second in delay, or spike causes glitches and bad things to happen..
other flight sims are more forgiving on errant inputs from joysticks..
I just can't do much more..
Don't get me wrong the stick is a good stick, and hasn't been abused at all, but it still is cheaply built, and after a few years, the little errant spikes cause big problems in some flight sims..
I know at least one or two people with the Warthog stick and it sounds like it's built much better..
I know of at least person who is very strong and if a stick were to be weak and break, he would do it by accident' just from crushing it.. on the other hand I am not strong and pretty weak, my health left me weak... so for my stick to feel cheap in my not so strong hands shows it's a weakly built stick and wears out easy and fast..
the little parts, knobs, POV's, and sliders are not built to last.. in the Saitek... and A-10C needs a good stick... Black Shark too.. all good flight sims.. but A-10C is very sensitive to inputs...
IL-2 not as much.. maybe it's coding, maybe the nature of the aircraft,,,..
or just the extremely complex amount of commands needed to run the flight sims..

I still find the topic title a little bit "irritating" since it actually discusses issues with a LGB. In the sim that would be GBU-10 and GBU-12.
A JDAM or IAM does not use a laser to strike a designated target - it uses an inertial guidance system (and also a GPS system) to destroy targets. In the sim that would be GBU-31 and GBU-38.
I don't want to pe picky - just wanted to clear things up ... :)
As far as using the auto-lase feature I have had the best results using time periods around 13 seconds.
I will try to correct the wording.. sorry, but they all seem to involved some laser when locking on a target and dropping these.
-
This sounds very convoluted. Personally I like using Auto Lase, but even manual Lase works fine. You should be flying straight level towards your target and the laser should fire around 10 seconds before it hits the target. If you last it too soon or too late the bomb may under or over shoot your target.
You want to see how easy it can be to fire a GBU-12, select one of the DSMS, click Profile, change from CCIP to CCRP, hit the CHG SET button, turn auto lase on, set the time to 10, save, find a target, set your SPI, fly straight and level, release weapon ease off target gently, watch it get obliterated...
your bombs should never appear to be trying to cut corners. That just sounds like you're dropping them like a crazy person, and I would expect routine misses to be normal.
That'as what I wanted to hear, the 'set the lase to 10', maybe that's my problem then...
In the past I never added a number, or changed it, or I made the number wrong... so I wil try '10' and see if that fixes it.. and btw, I setup targets froma long distance, but that didn't help. and I have tried to wait a minute, make a you turn and line up again... or just went on to the next target,, I just needed or need answers that make sense that all...
now it sounds really simple and I missed some very easy step..
thanx..

are you sure some one didn't plug the wrong number, in the wrong place in a script, which multiplied the ai aircraft?? that's the way it looks to me... looks like someone went down a list of flights, wings, squads, and they, and plugged in numbers like 3,4,5, which in turn exponentially multiplied.
-
so far, it's ok, but I found when I am using Team Speak and tars, and changing radio settings, sometimes my throttle will jump, and if on the ground it go wide open and it won't shut down... the crash.. as if some control is hit by some key combination, and it locks the throttle open,,
I have decdied that the only way to fly A-10C successfully, would be to buy the Warthog stick... trying to program the Saitek with this is just too much B.S...
Unless you get it perfect, there are to many glitches , imperfections, and if the stick has a couple years use, then there are many glitches... and A-10C is extremely sensative to spikes from the Hotas input..
It seems the WWII sims a much less complicated and a glitch doesn't screw up your flying like in A-10C..
I don't even have these glitches as much in Black Shark...
so, if and when I get my money.. or die first... it's gotta be a new stick for this sim, and when the new flighter (secret one that they won't tell us...) it will probably need a special stick too..
MY Saitek has been good, but think it should have lasted longer, it could be just the cable between the throttle and stick... as I doubt the ends are gold plated... or the pots, or.. whatever..

What type of bomb? GBU-1X or GBU-3X? Like above the GBU-3X (I.e. JDAM) does NOT need laser. If you are indeed using GBU-1X: At what time are you lasing?
what time am I lasing? I thought when you lock the target you can hit the insert key which set the laser for some countdown, on how much time it lases.. whatever default it.. so when you approach, say the countdown starts at 10.... and you start at 6... wouldn't that be ok? I just don't understand what the minimum distances are and times to hit soem buttons, I though there was a window wher is says maually drop and you pickle, holding it in manual mode.. auto mode hasn't worked for me either, but i thought I would save that for later.. when I did more reading about it..
If you pick a target, choose a bomb, lock the target with the crosshairs, and then hit 'Ctrl+up' = Lock slected target, whatever it's called when the crosshairs have have locked on and have a square... then it says maual drop on the left side of the hud.. there is also a countdown... to '0' then back up in negative numbers as you pass the target..
either way, I thought it locked the coordinate, and any bomb with eithe rlaser or gpu type of guidance would just stay locked on the target locked by your crosshairs..
I also saw the laser timing adjustmnet in the profile..... so I tried to mess with that and set it so the laser would stay on longer.. but it didn't help.
Yes, I am talking about at least two different types of bombs and guidanve systems, laser and gpu, but both of them confuse me on why they miss...
I guess I have to go back and read some stuff...
Maybe soemone can either explain it clearly for my burned out brain or point me to the right manual? Maybe a video for training too?
thanx..

nevermind,, I changed my search from 'auto lase' to 'autolase' one word instead of two words..
oh well..

J-dam bomb misses (LGB) laser designated targets. When I use the laser to paint a target, building or vehicle, most often, the bomb totally misses the target... why? Also, once you paint a target, doesn't the J-dam variety stay on target even if you move away with the aicraft? Mayybe other laser guided need a constant laser lock from your aircraft to hit target, forcing you to hold pickle until hit is finished? I am confused why most often my bombs miss bt a large distance, say hundreds of feet...
I try to lase and drop from at least 15,000 feet...
thnx..

Mustang First Take-Off and Landing: Post your Tracks/Vids
in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Posted
I am very curious about balance, I hate to bring up IL-2, but they messed up the balance with the Mustang f/m, the fuel tank behind the seat, was modelled wrong and it drained last in IL-2. And they refused to ever fix it..
In DCS Mustang, is that fuel tank modelled? Does it drain first, does the plane spin too easily because of the auxillery fuel tank behind the seat (if it is there?). I want to buy it, money is always very tight...
btw.. I have a little Veteran campaign going fighting for my benefits, so I changed my sig..
