  1. Then I cannot seem to login for some reason and terrains are disabled so I can't test. Tried DD_Fenrir's solution by deleting fxo and metashader folders but it doesn't help, the result is the same
  2. Then I would have issues with other terrains or games as well, right? I did try to revert to an older nvidia driver but this didn't solve it
  3. Strange because: - no overclock - no mods - repair done I even tried a different airplane, different in-game graphics settings, and a new clean mission with nothing else except my airplane. Still no joy. Nevada used to work in the past (even though it's more intensive than Caucasus as Bearskin also pointed out) so I guess it must be since one of the updates.
  4. Hi, I have a problem with graphics in Nevada only, not in Caucasus and Persian Gulf. See screenshots. My specs are in my signature. "Repair DCS World Open Beta" did not solve the issue.
  5. Oh cool. Can't wait to see that. Much more realistic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. That's a good idea if there is no other alternative. I used VAC a long time ago so I'll give that a try. Thanks
  7. Is there a way to load default cockpit states at the start of an instant action mission with an air start? When jumping straight into the action, I always have to go through the same routine again which is annoying because when I'm done, I'm either already shot down, or I have lost situational awareness. Things like: - dispenser mode select switch - ASPJ power and mode selector - EW page mode and program - HMD powered on etc In Falcon BMS there is a keyboard command that saves (ALT+C, then S) and loads (ALT+C, L) this stuff. I know you can edit the default CMDS release programs by editing the file located under: \Mods\aircraft\FA-18C\Cockpit\Scripts\TEWS\device but I was wondering if you can also edit default cockpit states, especially for an air start because starting with ECM and release programs OFF with MIGs in front of your nose is completely retarded (e.g. the new "Persian Gulf FA-18 Strike Fighter" instant action mission which takes ages to load to start with)
  8. Maple Fag AAT10 - AG Missile Employment (night) 6 mavericks of which 3 EO for a night mission. Where's the logic?? I can't see sh*t on the MAV display with the AGM-65H models. Even when slaving the maverick sensor to the SPI I created with the TGP in WHOT mode, I can't get a lock except in force correlate and even then it can miss. And about 18 moving targets at the last waypoint with mostly only guns remaining during night, are you f*cking kidding me?? I even had my wingman (examiner) engage targets with guns until he was winchester. Jeeesus Christ this mission sucked every time I played it and I almost broke my joystick.
  9. Small project? Wow, I wish I had your talent to make this kind of stuff. I have a few ideas myself but programming languages or even simple scripts have never been my strong points. Of course people will like what you make. And if they don't, that's ok too since they simply won't download it. Like with mods. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Remove Time from HUD Haha, reminds me of what one of my instructors used to say: "To ASSUME makes an ASS out of me and you"[emoji2957] Thanks, I didn't know this trick either and learnt something more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Exactly my point as well. Glad someone else spotted this too instead of buying a faster SSD and put DCS on it, or messing with a pagefile, DCS could perhaps be fixed. If you buy a new car and after a few maintenance jobs and software updates it can't drive any faster than 50, you're not going to pull the radio antenna and the external mirrors off and empty your trunk to have less aerodynamic drag and weight are you?? 12. Thanks for the tips. The 32GB pagefile on C:SSD helps. And I copied DCS world folder from D:HDD onto C:SSD. Loading times on the HDD are 2x or even 3x longer. But on my SSD I now only have 17GB free space left. DCS definately works better on the SSD. Server joining screen still takes minutes to load but tonight I played for more than one hour on a server with FPS 40 - 60 which sometimes dropped drastically but overall good performance (but only a few other players though). EDIT: later on another server I gave up after 1.5h because it was impossible to connect and I even had to reset my pc because CTRL+ALT+DEL and end process didn't work either. So it's not SSD that is going to save your bum in multiplayer. DCS World Multiplayer is simply f****d up, period!
  13. Thanks, I moved DCS onto my C drive (SSD) and created a 32GB pagefile and it only just fits on the 250GB SSD. Performance seems to be better (less bad). Is it a bad idea in terms of performance to move the pagefile to another HDD drive that has more space?
  14. So if you buy a ferrari and after a year it only drives max 50 km/h you will buy a newspaper? Even if I go for a piss while it's loading and patiently wait till it's done, multiplayer is still laggy with drops in FPS. It's unplayable. There was a time it used to run smooth.
  15. I haven't played DCS for more than a year. The last week I picked singleplayer up again since I bought the F/A-18C. Single player works fine except that loading missions now takes a lot longer than it used to in the past. I came to DCS years ago for a reason: because it used to run like a knife through butter. Not anymore. For multiplayer I even turned down my graphics settings but the loading takes ages. When the role selection screen comes up this is frozen and I cannot even scroll the list. Most of the times I cannot get in and the game is just stuck or crashes. The few times that I do manage to get in, the 3D cockpit loads really slow but then eventually I can fly. FPS are ok but they drop drastically once in a while. In summary: multiplayer for me is a pain in the ass and a no-go! Specs here below. DCS World is on my secondary HDD drive since windows is on my 250GB SSD. I managed to move stuff away from the SSD and free up space and I am now copying the entire DCS World folder onto C: SSD hoping that this will help but I'm pretty sure it's not going to make much of a difference. In the screenshots you can see my specs on screen display but I do not know how to interpret them. I would say my rig is powerful enough to run the game. Again, no issues in the past with multiplayer interface but now it's messed up.
  16. Ended up here through a search hoping to find a solution for my multiplayer role selection screen that freezes or takes ages to load (same for SP loading screens btw, in the past DCS was much quicker in terms of loading times). And here I am looking at 32 pages of people with the same frustration... Great f***ng job DCS!
  17. Trying to make SRS to work but it does not connect to in-game radios. In SRS interface it shows green icons for server and voip but "game" is disconnected. Very frustrating. Spent 1 day on this but now I give up. This thread was my closest search. **** it.
  18. Thanks all for the help
  19. Is it safe to uninstall Open Alpha? I cannot find it in windows 10 add/remove programs but there is an unins000.exe file in the main installation directory. And is it safe to uninstall Open Beta as well through windows add/remove programs? No need to deactivate modules or anything? This way I will have 1.5 and "stable" 2.5 only.
  20. Thank you very much for the fast reply. But why did it then install DCS World 1.5 with the update today? I'm not interested in the old 1.5 since I read that 2.5 is out and stable now. Can I uninstall 1.5 and open beta then?
  21. So what is the latest version of DCS now?? I wanted to start DCS World and it asked for an update to 2.5 and asked if I wanted to keep old installation directory so just to be sure I selected yes. Now it installed DCS World 1.5?? Not 2.5 So now I have 4 versions: Open Alpha, Open Beta, DCS World, and DCS World 1.5 installed just now with the update. Wtf?? Which ones can I uninstall or delete? Thanks for the help
  22. Is anyone else experiencing issues after windows 10 fall update?? My Cougar joystick is not recognised anymore. Furthermore, my windows behaves weird like I could not open up start menu or explorer until after a few restarts, and I cannot logout of a guest account. Does anyone know how to install the Cougar in windows 10 and which drivers to use? I've done this years ago and all I can remember is that it was a pain in the @$$. [EDIT] SOLVED (I hope!!): I clicked on start menu button(windows 10 home after fall update) and then the gear icon (settings). Next clicked Devices. On this page (bluetooth and other devices) there appears an entry called Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar. Clicked it and selected remove device and confirmed. Rebooted pc. Now the Cougar seems to work again in the Cougar Control Panel and Foxy.
  23. I have the same problem and could only find this thread. I disabled my mods to be sure and executed "repair DCS". In the A-10C I cannot program an engine failure. The score window does make an entry of the failed engine though. Other failures are bugged too. So basic flight training campaign by Maple Flag is broken too due to this (or at least the missions involving triggered failures).
  24. You're right:) I did not want to go into too much detail but what I meant was actually starting the maneuver at 500kts and then pull 9g and let airspeed bleed off to increase not only your turn rate but also turn radius hoping that I could shake off the bandit. But nope, he sticks to my tail. See exerpt from the manual in attachment with a chart about the turn rate, turn radius in function of load factor and airspeed. I did do some studying as you may see from the handwritten notes so I'm not completely ignorant:smartass: @Bewsher @lmp thanks for the tip about adding an F-15C to the opposing Ukrainian or Israeli faction, this worked! Spotting targets with the radar is not really an issue for me even though this may also be a challenge to keep situational awareness if you have multiple bandits. It's keeping a visual on them and more importantly identify them as friendly or bandit that is such a pain, even if I'm looking outside all the time and neglect the HUD. I mean, loose sight, loose the fight, right? On several occasions I found myself following my own AI wingman until coming within guns range and then I realised oh crap, that looks like an F-15 so then where did the bandit go:doh:. In real life I have no difficulty at all spotting other airplanes (I'm an airline pilot - yeay, three cheers and now get lost with the sound of a toilet flush in the background:P). But this monitor-TrackIR business just feels so unnatural. I wonder why they call it Natural Point TrackIR, they should call it Unnatural-stiff-neck-pop-your-eyeballs-out TrackIR:megalol:
  25. Thanks for the advise. Any more tips are greatly appreciated. But I think it now boils down to practise practise practise since I am already doing most of what you say. I am using the Thrustmaster HOTAS Cougar with the ANT ELEV rotary set to the zoom axis. I totally agree that trackIR is absolutely indispensable. I did try single player missions as well to eliminate the possibility of lag but I will try to set up my own mission in the editor. Any way I can add another F-15C as my adversary? I can't seem to select it from the opposing factions. Just so that it boils down to pilot skills only and not the airframe. I am also using Tacview to analyse my dogfights afterwards. But it's a hell of a challenge to find out what I could have done differently or to learn from the enemy AI. And once they get on my tail (esp. Mig-29 or Su-27), all is practically lost. It seems as though the F-15C cannot outmaneuver them and I find myself saying "come on, turn turn turn you lazy beast!". Pulling 9g at 500kts and the bandit sticks to my tail as if it's doing a formation flight. I bet in real life, one of the two would sooner or later loose it. The pilot is the weakest link in modern fighters. In DCS your screen gets black but that's not a problem for the AI on my tail apparently.
