Well some pilots e.g. Mig-15 didn't have G-suits (IIRC) so I'm wondering if, setting aside the time taken, the experience of G-LOC is noticeably different depending on whether a pilot wears one or not.

Just to prove me wrong, Bogey Dope on Youtube (hope he doesn't mind me linking) did some tests of the new G-LOC in the F-16 and it shows without 'warm-up' the G-LOC effects match those of the Spitfire (and the rest).

I re-did the F-86 test and, after a warm-up, it's behaving as as advertised.
So it seems the new G-LOC effect is universal across all aircraft and the F-16 clip with which I was comparing the Spitfire et al was post-warm-up - something I should have checked beforehand.
Sorry for any undue panic!
e: question for the team (or anyone who knows) does the addition of a G-Suit alter the perceived effects of G-LOC (visual, auditory etc) or just the time taken for onset? (or both?)

I think what's happened is that the new G-LOC code for the F-16 has accidentally removed the graduated tunnel vision for every other aircraft.
If that's not the case then which of these is realistic? Because they are not the same.

It's been gradual since forever; it's only in this patch that it's now like switching off the light.

No worries, my snark was un-called for. The Spit (and 109, and probably others) do have the same loss of colour as the F-16 (check my video), just not the gradual darkening/tunnel effect. Here's a vid I stole from Reddit for comparison.

I've watched video of the new F-16's G-LOC effect but where that one is a gradual fade out the Spitfire's is sudden; like flicking a light switch.

I had suspected it was something to do with low Core count. My CPU (7600K) has only 4, and I've seen others with the same issue who have similar CPUs. But if you're having the same trouble with a 13700K then....

No change.
Unplayable stuttering (both .exes) until disabling then re-enabling Core 0 in the affinity settings. After which it runs perfectly smooth.

If Virpil comes with its own profiling software you might want to try programming the brake to produce rapid, short pulses that don't apply full brake pressure; a bit like ABS brakes.

Would greatly help avoid accidental deployment, activation, and droppage.

For those that do not own (or are not able to use) physical rudder pedals, ground handling, take off, and landing in those aircraft without differential braking can be overly complicated.
So how about an option in the 'Special' tab for differential braking for those aircraft the don't have it?
People with pedals and toe brakes can continue as before, nothing will be taken from them. And until the day competitive taxiway racing catches on I think we can agree nobody would be gaining any kind of unfair advantage.

I don't think it's a bug, more an unintended feature of the current engine.
Here's a couple of photos over land and sea. Similar clouds* casting similar shadows.

Doesn't need to be a long track at all - pick a cold start mission and spend 20 seconds turning the lights on and off.

LH Dashboard Lamp Brightness DECREASE - LCtrl + N
LH Dashboard Lamp Brightness INCREASE - LShft + N
RH Dashboard Lamp Brightness DECREASE - RCtrl + N
RH Dashboard Lamp Brightness INCREASE - RShft + N
....but they're reversed: LCtrl + N increases the brightness of the left lamp, LShft + N decreases it....etc.
e: and the gain is mental

Could be. It might also be the case that with current tech increasing the shadow effect over water to look more realistic will make the shadows over land practically solid black.

OK, I'm on Team 'Cloud Shadows Are There' - but - they are not as visible over the water as over land. A lot depends on the type of cloud and its altitude.
Quick vid and some pics (Water high, clouds standard)
This last pic was from 22k (online) and I couldn't make out any shadows. The clouds, IIRC, were at 12k. Don't know if this is realistic.

This is a strange one. Here's two pic from the same flight. Clouds on 'Standard', water on 'High'
From one angle the cloud shadows very clearly, and sharply, stop at the coast.
From a different angle (looking towards a low sun) the shadows do seem to be there. But they are only visible when contrasted against the sun's glare.

First thing I noticed from the video is that the stutters aren't registering on the fps widget - you're getting a beautifully flat line. That suggests to me the stutters aren't coming from DCS.
So I would suspect a V-sync/G-sync issue, or maybe your head-tracking is not running as smooth as it should.

The AI K-4 isn't a UFO. This can be proven by flying a 1v1 K-4 vs K-4.
It's true that the AI is using a simplified flight model and may not have the same operational restrictions a human needs to monitor. Also true is that the AI can pull off the most ludicrous, beneath the nose deflection shots - as if they were flying an invisible plane.
However, in a straight human K-4 vs AI K-4 duel there's nothing UFO'ey about it. It's a very close match.
If you want to see a true UFO in action then try a Mig-15 vs Mig-15 duel.

Another bump for this...can any dev shed light on this?
i7-7600K, Z270mb, 32GB RAM, Radeon RX 6700XT, Windows 10
Proximity to units causes massive stuttering (Even on an empty map there's stuttering but not as bad)
Disabling and re-enabling Core 0 in the affinity settings (1:20) cures it completely. Same result with both ST and MT .exes.
