IR missiles need 60 seconds to cool down before they become usable.
-
LOL I wasn't being sarcastic I promise - I didn't know the save mission thingy wasn't a 'save state' kind of thing.
-
The moment your missiles have cooled hit ESC and 'Save Mission' - then you can load straight in again without waiting. Or do an air start.

According to the 'G' flight manual it's IFF, although in that it's called Mode 4. EDIT: Your eyes are fine - it's a crappy scan job.

Can someone explain this behaviour? (Pitch oscillations)
Lixma 06 replied to Lixma 06's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
I've been familiar with the behaviour of the Mig-29 since the super-sexy FM was introduced to the FC3 version, but I always thought the 'bucking' was simply down to an aircraft blessed with an excess of nose authority getting caught in a series of mini-stalls. It was only when I looked down yesterday and saw what the stick was doing that I realised there was another ingredient. -

Thanks. Thinking about it some more the 'bucking' is more to do with my joystick not being physically connected with the virtual aircraft. I guess FFB sticks might circumvent this; assuming they were powerful enough. -
Starting from C&D mode and moving resets the navigation

Same here. Ext. Power = Stutter. Batteries only = Fine. -
The ME is dropping the skill level of AI units after moving the player to a new aircraft. I want to swap sides in a 1v1 mission. I select 'Ace' for the AI aircraft but when I select 'Player' for the opposing aircraft the ME reduces the other aircraft's skill level to 'Rookie'. The video will explain better than I can. 1v1 - F-4E vs Mig-21 - Gunzo Dusk.miz

Is this manoeuvre to form the base of a triangle for some fancy trigonometric range solution?
-
Here's a vid from the TRK replay. My recollection from playing the mission is having a solid 'KR' that eventually flickered and died as the range closed, whereas in the TRK it is constantly flickering until it disappears. @graveyard4DCS I had tons of fuel remaining so I doubt it was bingo related.

There's little chance I would've touched that button during the mission; the only time I've ever used it was during ground attack. Maybe it's automatic?
-
Neither, guns only.
-
Locked up an F-15 at about 30km, 'KR' popped up on the HUD. At around 20km the 'KR' started flickering and by 15km it had disappeared. I'm guessing it has something to do with jamming but I thought that's what AJ signified?

Please god let those unit/language options be added to the special options tab.

Guns: Can't lock target while holding 1st trigger detent
Lixma 06 replied to Lixma 06's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Then there's an issue - in CC mode the IR lock is instant. I'll repost all this in the bug section later; try and get some eyes on it. -
Guns: Can't lock target while holding 1st trigger detent
Lixma 06 replied to Lixma 06's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Update! IR Close Combat Mode - Cannot (re)lock target while in 1st stage trigger detent. RAD Close Combat Mode - Can (re)lock target while in 1st stage trigger detent! I can't think why the two modes (IR Close Combat, RAD Close Combat) would behave so differently when they're essentially doing the same job. Here's a vid attempting to show what's happening. In RAD Close Combat mode I lock up the target via the vertical gates, switch to guns (1st detent), and then proceed to unlock (funnel appears) and re-lock the target a few times, all while remaining in 1st detent. Everything works as expected. Next I switch out of RAD and into IR Close Combat. I lock up the target okay, switch to 1st detent, then un-lock the target which brings up the funnel. I then attempt to re-lock the target as before but nothing happens. I try long presses, short presses, swearing. Nothing works. I have to release 1st detent to return to vertical gates and then start over. Another oddity is that RAD Close Combat takes a couple of seconds to lock the target, while the IR CC is suspiciously instantaneous. -
Many other aircraft have the same HUD...'bloom'...is perhaps not the right term - but where increasing brightness (or even mild FOV changes) corresponds to fatter/fuzzier fonts. The Mig-29 isn't the worst offender but like most other green HUDs I find myself reducing the brightness to sharpen the image immediately on entering the cockpit. I hope ED will one day give some love to the HUD elements - they look like overlays rather than projections on glass (Razbam's Harrier I quite like though). The WW2 reticles in particular look like something out of a 90's era flight sim. There must me some fancy new GFX card trickery available to up the realism?
