  1. Hi Hornet pilots! I just watched the Jetstream series about Canadian Air Force training for the F18. I noticed in the last episode when they are practicing dive bombing that that are diving in AUTO Mode with a target designated. I thought auto mode was CCRP release in level flight but I am surely wrong. Anybody could explain me why and how they are releasing in such a way? Thanks, regards Pierre
  2. Thanks for advices! I will have to watch those tutorial because it is unclear to me how to use both TOO1 and TOO2 for the same station and get those 2 bombs on 2 different target. I am not using TPOD for now ( waiting for the update to come to stable) but only the waypoint designate method. Best regards, Pierre
  3. Hello, I am trying to fly with an AI wingman (F18) to feel less lonely. I looked for an AI wingman command list and explanations in the User Manual but can not find anything. Where should I look for such informations? Is there any advices you can give me regarding the use of AI wingman? I read that it is better to use it as « sensor » rather than as a « weapon » and that it would be better to set him as Passive Defence in Reaction to threat option. Best regards, Pierre
  4. Hello, I am a beginner with the F18 and currently in the process of learning the aircraft referencing a few manuals and tutorial videos. However, I am having quite trouble to know what is working or not in this aircraft. Now I am learning general and GPS guided bombing and I am wondering whic release mode are currently implemented and working currently. Is auto Bombing working fine? Can we loft bombs correctly ? Can we loft JDAMs? There is no explanation in the manual. Could some experienced users tell me the current status of the bomb release modes? Best regards, Pierre
  5. Hi, So I found out all the red units were hidden in the 476th templates, newbie me. And that’s an outrageous number of objects tracked by Tacview explaining the performance drop. I ended deleting most of those not used in my mission. I also noticed while populating Nellis AFB that some static airplanes models are far heavier than others, and that is mainly all aircrafts that have a module counterpart. Hope it may help others in the future, Pierre
  6. Hi, I am quite new to DCS and currently in the process of building a little training mission using the 476th NTTR template. However, I noticed very bad performance when launching the mission where I can maintain 60fps in the same area on another mission. Of course I guessed it was due to the high number of object in the template, so I deleted most of them except the one I needed. But performance was still crappy. So I remembered that Tacview could impacts performances when it has to record lot of objects. I deactivated Tacview in the settings and voila my FPS are back. Sadly, I can not analyze my training with Tacview anymore. Is there something I can tweak so I could maintain my FPS with Tacview still activated? What bugs me is that after deleting lots of NTTR templates objects, I do not have that much objects in the mission when comparing to the missions available with the module. I wonder if all the waypoint ring I can see in the ME are counted as objects? Is there a way to know how many objects there are in a mission? Thanks for help, Best regards, Pierre
  7. Ok, so I tried your suggestions but I have to say it does not work. For whatever reason the F16 (I change it to SU27) spawns above the 747 then it decelerate behind, catches up a few minutes later, stays below for maybe 20 seconds, then the 747 pulls up 45deg nose up with F16 following under. After that it is total mess^^ It seems the No Reaction option is not working. Any idea what could be wrong? I am maybe asking to much to the AI. Pierre
  8. Thank you very much for your help, Even if I am understanding only half of what you said^^ I guess I have a new challenge to deal with! Will try your advices Pierre
  9. Hi, I am completely new to ME in DCS. I just installed the Civilian Aircraft Mod to populate the sky above Nevada and I tried to reproduce a movie scene where a fighter was hidden under an airliner. I set a 747 at 37000ft 470GS and a Su27 just under at same speed but 36900ft. Sadly it just doesn’t work. For whatever reason the 747 pitches up at spawn as if she was evading the SU and then she goes on its FPL but speed is 430GS. Of course the SU is way forward after that. So, is my idea impossible or is there some settings I should set in the ME for such a scenario to occur? My idea was to create a mission where one would have to tally some airliners to find the bandit, and if possible set a trigger which would make the bandit offensive when you get close to it. Don’t if it is doable though. Best regards, Pierre
  10. I use hot start take-off. I only use manœuver flaps. I tried to cycle anti-skid switch and reset wing computer, to no avail. That must be a bug then. Lowering flaps and raising them again is a work around to get the spoilers down. Pierre
  11. Hi, I noticed that when taking off my outboard spoilers remain up until I rotate. When I rotate they retracts themselves. Before rolling, all my spoilers are up ( which is normal) and when I push the throttle forward only the inboard spoilers retracts... Is this normal behavior? I used to think all spoilers should retract when adding power...? Thanks for help, Best regards, Pierre
  12. +1 Not having proper replay in such high graphics game is just non sense to me. However I also think this problem is an Eagle Dynamic problem and not Heatblur. Look at Xplane 11! I can pause the game anytime and playback. I think it is urgent for Eagle Dynamic to find another way to playback the game. The F14 is such a beauty that I can only watch from external view when stopped on runway or with Autopilot engaged. A pity really... Best regards, Pierre
  13. Yes thanks ! I will try
  14. Hi, thanks for answers. I am pretty sure I did not touch the rudder when the aircraft was drifting and the probe was not yet extended. I will have to try again. And I think I will try to trim the yaw to centre the ball so I am able to not having to touch the rudder during refuel. Any advice about how to set up a tanker properly in the mission editor? How can I make a tanker fly straight path in a pattern? What altitude a refuel is normally done? I understand 250 IAS is the best speed for that but can a KC130 fly at that speed actually? Best regards, Pierre
  15. Hi there, Neewbie question here : I created a training mission with a c135mprs tanker doing an orbit at 23000ft 240kt on its last flightplan waypoint. For some reason, when I am behind the tanker I am constantly pushed to the right and I do not understand what's the reason for this. I know about wake turbulences and I think it is not that because I am not in the wake. I can not stabilized behind the tanker. What is weird is that I did not have such problem before. Any idea what could cause this? Maybe it is the orbit waypoint cause the tanker to constantly veering (but seems wing level to me)? Are my tanker parameters of speed and altitude ok? Also I would like to ask if I need to trim the induced drag caused by the probe on the yaw axis before refueling? Thanks for help, best regards, Pierre
  16. Thank you very much to all of you for your inputs! I guess I have a road map now to my BFM journey  Pierre
  17. Hi, I am just beginning learning air combat maneuvering with the F14. I really have no experience and play single player only. My understanding is that DCS AI behavior is quite uneven, some jets performing more realistically than others. I wonder what is the consensus regarding which type of jet AI got the more realistic behavior? For now I only fought against Mig23 adjusting their level and number in the Mission Editor. Any advice? Also, what is the best way to set up a fight if I want to dogfight using Aim9 rather than Gun? Thanks for help, Pierre
  18. Hello, I am thinking the ball in the Tomcat is really sensitive. It is affected very much with even the slightest amount of rudder input. I have the crappy Thrustmaster rudder pedals so that may not help, but in real life flying, when doing high bank angle maneuvers you need quite a quick on the rudder to keep coordinated when entering the turn. The only time I got a sensitive ball was flying ultralight which had very few inertia on the yaw axis. I may be wrong but I guess an F14 would have quite heavy inertia on the yaw axis and far more stable ball as a consequence. Pierre
  19. Thank you for the link! Pierre
  20. Hello, I am currently investigating swapping my Warthog base with the Virgil WrBrd base keeping the Warthog stick. My Warthog is currently mounted under my desk on a pod (Ikea laptop table). I am using a 8cm extension and right now, the stick is 1 cm below my desk. As I read that the WrBrd base is taller than the Thrust master, I would be glad if someone could provide me with some dimensions so I can check how it will fit under my desk. - What would be the height from the base (just above the X plate) to the top of the Thrustmaster Warthog stick (without any extension, just the stick mounted on the base)? - What is the dimensions of the square of the underbase nuts which hold the X plates? Thanks for your help, Best regards, Pierre
  21. Ok, thanks to Py procedure and a little of trial and error, I managed to adjust the zoom slider neutral position. Just to complete your procedure: - first you need to set “slider” option for your slider in the Axis Tune Panel - then you adjust neutral position by tuning down either X or Y saturation value. In my case, I needed to zoom in so I had to adjust the Y saturation. Thank you for the help, Pierre
  22. Thank you! I will try that. Will report back Pierre
  23. Hi, I am quite new to DCS and need some help. I assigned the zoom axis to the throttle slider of my Warthog throttle. My problem is that the default zoom on the slider ( when the slider is in the middle notch) is not the same as the default zoom of my default cockpit view. As a result, when I want to zoom a bit, I move the slider forward but the zoom view jumps backward first, then forward if I push the slider more. If the resume the slider to neutral notch, the zoom does not reset to my default view zoom but rather way backward. I need to push Num Enter key on the keyboard to go back my default view zoom. I hope my explanation is clear:smilewink: So, is there a way to sync slider neutral zoom position with default cockpit view zoom position? I guess there is a way because I can see great video where people are zooming smoothly in cockpit and going back to their default view without this problem. Thanks for help, Best regards, Pierre
  24. Hi, sorry to bring up such an old post but I started playing again with the Viggen in DCS2.5 and I still struggle to find the correct profile for a good M71 HD release. I now use the training missions pack available in the user files for training CCIP delivery. I am able to see the correct symbology but I keep seeing that the timeline bar is always flashing when the release symbology is over the target. If I refer to the manual, it seems it means that the bombs drop time is inferior to the required arming time. As such, it is a invalid release for me ( even if the bombs release). Am I the only one to think that a timeline should not be flashing during the release or did I misunderstand the manual? Following above advices I was flying 60-70 m AGL at M0.85 during the release. Also, when releasing as low as 60 m AGL, it seems my bombs are falling short of the target even if I press the release button when the dot and circle are on the target. I am starting to wonder if there is something wrong with M71HD CCIP delivery in the game... Any pro got an insight about that? Best regards, Pierre
  25. Hello, I had the same problem with the Viggen few weeks ago, it appeared that the “ sync cockpit buttons with HOTAS” option in DCS would crash the game as soon as I hit the FLY button. No more problem after I unticked this option. Hope it may help, Pierre
