No not magical, but it is not just for use when in visual. If you know your bandit is out there but can not see him SS will get a lock on him if you have a rough idea where to point your nose. Bore Sight is WVR only as its like a soda straw and you have to Know almost exclusively where your target is. Agreed.. I still think its gross oversight on the part of the developers to have not included these two functions.. Just to make things in perspective when my Cousin first flew the sim his first reaction was WHERE THe F is superseach.. To add he has over 2000hrs in the f15.
-
Nope not a magic tool but I think you're wrong with making a big differance. in WVR it could make a huge difference.
-
I did not say it's a guarantee we all know this.. I can say that it has caught a few skilled players on 104th by complete surprise and bit them hard. I'm not trying to argue that it's some magic stick kill that works all the time.. But if I can get into the position I want with it, It does one hella job for me. As far as getting into 5nm if I'm firing that close I've committed to merging.

No Dcs does not model this. It should. but it doesnt Well, there is NO reason it should not be implemented in the dcs. Same thing with supersearch. Leaving those options out imho is about as equal as leaving eos off the ru birds. There has been the "it's a PITA to model" Comment made before but if floodmode works with the same area as what SS is there is no reason it cannot work out to the 10nm is suposed to work at.

As Exocert stated it is a software lock I.e. the locked plane only sees your radar sweeps and cannot tell it is locked.. I do want to clarify what I mean by hard to get a hard lock.. If you're closure rate is high I find when a target is that close to me it can be difficult to get the tdc on the target and lock them.. Especially if they are towards the gimble limit of the radar. :pilotfly:

Yes well, as I said you have to be in PRIME launching conditions. I have scored several aim7 kills on 104th at +15nm shots. You're flirting with the devil doing this.. Waiting for them to be that close some times makes it extreamly hard to get a hard lock.. You should softlock in TWS and hold the soft lock. When you get into the position you want to fire, just switch back to rws and it will auto transition to STT allowing you to fire, or you can switch to bore scope which is auto aquisition into stt or even flood mode.

They work realy well out to 18nm if fired in the right parameters..

How do I insure that my target is not a friendly target.
pr1malr8ge replied to Pinefang's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Only possible way I would think it might possibly work would be a tailing in stack trying to emulate the RU IFF on sceen. How ever Most likly it would only show up as one bar. -
tactic question; drag the fight to contrails level?
pr1malr8ge replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: Flaming Cliffs
I would say No.. if you climb and he knows it you're just giving a HOT target against a Cold ass Sky. Not to mention much easier for radar to see you. Then you have the fact that when you enter he will see you first and may never even go up there.. you also have to consider the amount of smash you will loose trying to get to the cons if you're at a lower altitude. If you're being persued your increase in altitude will result in him closing the gap should he choose not to gain altitude either and may get him into a prime missile launch distance. On the flip side. if you're both above cons diving down through the cons will give a way your position but it also give you ground clutter help with radar and when he goes down to persuit you will pick him up once he starts conning.. As far as it being a tactic. Personally no. -

Dashes are FOE in DCS Regaurdless.. How ever in the real world it's not that simple.. Read this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_Black_Hawk_shootdown_incident -
Humm does this look like what you watched on dcs youtube?

Basic Setup for F-15C, just getting started
pr1malr8ge replied to lockon2015's topic in F-15C for DCS World
Ok, just to clear this up.. The f15c is included with the FC3 module. Or if you do not wish to purchase fc3 you can get the f15c as a stand alone module. When activating FC3 or just the f15 what you need to do is launch dcsworld and then either select a campaign or instant mission for an FC3 aircraft or the f15c for just the f15c module. Once you hit launch it should bring up the promp to type in your serial number[KEY] -
F-18 grip, WARTHOG compatible
pr1malr8ge replied to hegykc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well first off I skimmed. I know he is making a full stick but have not seen anything mentioned about a full throttle set. I was talking about the base also not the paddle replacements for the warthog! -

pr1malr8ge replied to hegykc's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I can say with certinty that I will purchase this if it's in a reasonable price range. Will you make a throttle set also? Would be interested in a full set throttle and stick/eject combo. Awesome renders but when we going to see some prototype pictures? -
AweSome seat.. Dedicate it to your son. Maybe paint "In Loving Memory of son" on the side. Sorry for your loss.

I bound my elevation scan control to my joy stick. But keep in mind that the altitude is based also on where your curser is. if its on the bottom of the scope you are going to have a very small range of altitude. If you want to widen the elevation you need the tdc up at the top. If you have the TDC up at the top this also allows you to more fine tune what altitudes you're looking at meaning you can use the elv control to look only low up to from 0 to 30+ then from say mid to High.

idle to mill power should be around 2 seconds according to my SME...

No but others on this forum seem to think the eagle in game has no modeling issues *caugh //RAGE *caugh.. Thanks for confirming what I have said already. I have had a family member whom is a former F15C driver state the same thing. It is not even close to the real thing in that flight envelope..
-
Thank you for the decency of your thoughts. My first post was to bring up to light that those who keep making statements that the F15 was deliberately given an edge over the flankers by ED was false. //RAGE came in here trying to counter everything as if no one has said such things etc etc. This is a sim there are unequivocal issues but ED hasn't given the f15 anything above what it truly is capable of.
-
At least you're not being a condescending troll. I don't need to to see your tacks I believe you've killed further but that was against AI and well who truly gives a crap about AI. ***** just realized this was from someone else.*** Sorry Frostie I thought you were //rage

Think I do believe I've earned my awesome sauce. Next time you want to try and troll someone who you believe hasn't done anything better be sure you know it!

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8KiatNmckBIV01QeU5XNzRCc2c/view?usp=sharing 1hr mark watch first aim120 go vertical straight off the rail. This is common with aim120c. I've never seen any RU missile do that. [minus those trying to do it and have a nose high launch]
-
With that you're arguing that ED has magically made the f15 so advantageous against the su/mig when truly it is not. Subsequently I have direct access to an actual former pilot of that era f15c. You and obviously I cannot say with certainty do not have access to an actual pilot of neither plane and are only responding with exactly what you think is correct which probably isn't.. The arguments is only to be compounded when the f18 is released and it includes j2j datalink jhmcs & aim9x. Again the direct statements that ED has buffed the f15 and nerfed the SU/MIG for unfair advantages is plainly outrageous.
-
So my take on things. Bit of a background. I have my own personal access to an SME a.k.a former f15c driver circa ~1985-1998. Those who claim that DCS has given the f15 any major advantages over the RU birds is about as hogwash as believing that the f35 is able to replace the a10c in CAS for ground troops. First thing is that in any doctrine of war concerning the f15 it will never be in the air with out ground and or AWACS support. So taking into account that in the supposed era that the su27 was released it had data-link [mind you it is no where as good as what the game depicts it to be]. Second the RU AWACS at that time was nothing in compatible as to that of the US at that time. Data-link while it does give the SU a passive outlook via data-link along with its passive eos the fact remains so did the f15 -irst. It would not be airborne with out AWACS support and would not need to have it's radar on to be guided to an engagement. In all probability with both sides having AWACS and the SU having both EOS and data-link, a flight of f15s would still be aware of the SUs presence well before the SU flight would know of the F15s. Second the fact remains that the aim120 and aim7 is severely hindered compared to its real life counterpart. My SME claims confirmed launch at a much greater distance then what is capable in game against an evasive target[drone much smaller then that of a SU27] with a kill. [i'm not talking about launching in game at suposed max range. Im talking about probability of kill in game which seems to be 5-10nm respectively] Third, the flight envelope of the f15 is off also. My SME has clearly stated that the f15 will not depart flight unless PRO controls are deliberately held [i.e. High AOA and maximum opposite controls rudder/roll/aleron]. The plane according to him is highly forgiving and even in departure of flight just letting go of the stick 99.9% of the time would return to controllable flight. This 200*ps roll in the flight levels is absurd and frankly a major issue. So to make claims that ED has given the F15 an advantage against the flankers is a bit absurd.
