I play both, right now I'd say 60% MP and 40% SP. But, with regard to your original reason for asking, AI, I'd say that in my case there's no difference, since I exclusively play in PvE servers like GAW and PGAW; so, yeah, better AI would be great!

Agreed! It's the bug I hate the most, I want to be able to save and rewatch my fights, Tacview is great, but not enough! Fix the tracks!

Hey Kaba, after last patch, I'm finally able to play the cold start version of the campaign. Really nice job, thank you for your work! Gotta ask: any plan on updating the cold start version to 1.4?
-
Hi there, guys! I don't know if it's related to what you're discussing, but I'm playing the Operation Piercing Fury campaign for the A-10 and I noticed that the some ground kills don't get added to the kill score in the campaign window. Bug? Same bug? EDIT: Started another campaign yesterday night, with the Tomcat, after mission 1, same issue, 2 kills credit in AAR, none recorded in the campaign window.

Unconscious / Ejection impossible if jet has been hit
Gianky replied to GKOver's topic in Bugs and Problems
No, you're not the only one, I'm experiencing this a lot, too. In my case, as much as I can recall, it's only when I get hit and the aircraft starts rolling very fast. That said, I'm afraid we can't say if it's a bug or not, not being able to measure the actual forces that pilot and RIO are experiencing in that situation. Subjectively, it does feel like a bug to me, too; unfortunately, that doesn't mean it is... -
Hi Mike! I quickly tried both the missions I referred to in my OP, everything seems to be fine. As soon as I can I'll try some more. Thank you for the fix! P.S. Just to be thorough, in "Cage the bear" mission 1, my F-14 spawned with spread wings, but as soon as I pressed the "fly" green button in the lower right corner of the briefing window, the wings went back to oversweep position, without any collision with the AI aircraft.
-
Thank you, Cobra, I'll wait patiently.
-
Thanks, Gaff, I'll try that. Unfortunately, it won't fix cold start missions in Cage The Bear, where there's a wing collision immediately at mission start (the airplanes are parked too close to each other). I haven't notice that, but wingmen do tend to get stuck on the catapult, even without ever launching... I think, though, that happened with the Hornet, too, so maybe it's a DCS bug.
-
Thanks, Blinde, good to know! Well, I guess we'll have to wait for a sign from the powers that be....
-
So, am I the only one to experience this? Or is there a workaround I haven't found? Help? :helpsmilie:

Hi Kaba, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, I'm afraid it's a DCS bug (or Tomcat?), since I tried to play the MiG-28 furball mission and found out the same behaviour (minus the collision, but my wingman's wings were spread out and I couldn't taxy anyway). I opened a thread in the "Bugs and problems" section, we'll see what happens. Thanks again for your time!

Hi there. After last OB update, AI Tomcats spawn on the carrier in SP missions with their wings at minimum sweep. That makes impossible to play, when you're lucky and planes don't collide, you can't move from your parking position without a collision. I found this behavious in Cage the Bear mission 1 and in the stand alone MiG-28 furball mission.

Hi there! First of all, thank you for taking the time to make this campaign. I can't wait to play it! My last sentence, unfortunately, brings me to the bug I found: I'm using the 1.2 cold start version and, after last OB patch, the first mission is unplayable. When the mission starts, my wingman spawns on the carrier with spread wings, so his airplane collides with mine and both are damaged. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi Sedlo! While I would like to know who's who as soon as possible, because, as you pointed out, it's very difficult to spot aircraft on a 2D screen (and even more difficult on a VR headset!), but it's also very hard to visually ID a contact, from my experience, we already have the means to do what you're asking for. As a matter of fact, in Hoggit's server, all aircraft have the same brown dot icon, with no distinction for friend or foe. Have a look on the forum, do a search for the file labels.lua, it's the one you have to edit to have the labels as you want. Personally, I think that the best of both worlds would be to have a system similar to IL-2 Great Battles series, where icons appear at spotting distance in a grey color, without giving away if they are F or F, and progressively become red or blue the closer you get (usually within 3/4 km, IIRC). I'd love for multiplayer server to use the same system (if you read the labels.lua file, you can see that it is possible to have different icons according to distance, too), because it's really so very hard to spot contacts and to identify them (and, please oh please, give us icons for missiles, too!)

+1 for the Kitty Hawk class. Honestly, it could have been the companion for the F-14, while we could have had the Forrestal class with the F-4 (I've always associated the two together.)

So, as the sale is approaching its ending, I made up my mind. Thank you all for your advices, I read them all. In the end, I resisted the urge to buy new modules (Huey, in first place... I guess rotary wings will have to wait a bit longer) and went with more content for the modules I already own, especially the ones I use the least, hoping to learn them better (while having fun, of course!) The Enemy Within, Operation Piercing Fury, The Big Show and The Blue-nosed Bastards of Bodney have just landed on my SSD! Again, thank you all, take care, have fun and good hunting!
-
I do have pedals! Thanks for the suggestion, I was thinking about them. How about the A-10 campaigns? Specifically Enemy within, Stone Shield and Piercing Fury?
-
yes, I have, and each time is harder and harder to wait... I want the B+, the one with radar. Razbam has recently confirmed they will make it as a separate module, so I'll just wait. As for the Huey, is it easy to learn? Keep present that I never flew choppers, even if I know the theory behind them.

Hi guys! I'd like to buy something for this Easter sale, but I'm really undecided... I have FC3, A-10C, F/A-18C and the F-14B, plus a couple of warbirds (Mustang and Spit). I already have all the maps. So, I'm at a point where I'm pretty decent with the modern modules I have (I dropped most hours on the Hornet, the Cat comes second and it's quickly gaining the top spot, the Hog is the one I'm less confident in and has the less hours. Right now, I'm mostly flying online (in Hoggit servers), and I haven't flown the warbirds much. My main doubt is: should I buy a new module or some campaigns? If I buy a new module (I was thinking about buying my first chopper), I put new stuff to learn in the pipeline, that I can use online, but then, it's true that I still have to master the ones I have (with the possible exception of the Hornet). If I buy new campaigns (I was thinking about Hog, Spit and Mustang campaigns), I'll add content to the modules, especially the ones I used less, like the warbirds, but then it's true that I spend most of my time in MP, not SP. So, what would you do? Module or campaigns?

Thanks for your answers, guys, good to know it can be done, while we wait for the Litening (sooner or later I'll manage to update...) I'm with Gripes on this one, I think it can be fairly accurate, if you can find the target (I'm thinking about GAW), the only problem I see is that to be as accurate as possible in designating the target, you have to be pretty close to it and risking being fired upon, which kinda defeat the purpose of precision ammunitions. It'll surely be different with TGP, it'll be like with the A-10C, where you pass coordinates of a target to the JDAM designating it with the Litening.
-
Hi there! I couldn't yet download the new OB patch, so I couldn't try myself what I'm about to ask. From what I've seen/read around, using JDAMs, even in TOO, right now, pretty much involves to know the exact coordinates of your targets; which seems to be pretty in contrast with the "target of opportunity" name of said mode. So, I'm wondering: is it possible to designated a point on the ground with the "ball and chain", in auto mode, than switch to JDAMs to attack it? Anyone tried that?
-
Dang! Guess I should RTFM! :P Thanks Qui Gon, you honor your nickname! ;)
-
One think that's really bothering me, right now, flying in MP, with all human and AI comms going on, is the impossibility of asking Jester to lower the volume of V/UHF radio and RWR... I know, a minor issue, but sometimes that makes really hard to understand communications and building a good SA in general (beside being really annoying for the ears...)
-
Yeah, I saw that, thank you! I was asking because, in the Hornet mini-update of March 26th, Wags said they were planning JDAM release for today's patch, but I haven't heard anything since then.
