  1. Hi! The fix is out in DCS_Updater 2.4.3.62 It is strongly advised to make a repair: Start Menu's DCS World -> Repair DCS World The bug discussion thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=130320 Sorry for the inconvenience. Mods, please stick this, and read-only, I think. Thanks.
  2. i do understand you frustration, but we both want the fix be a solution, not a bigger problem, do we? that's why we'll wait for openbeta results.
  3. definitely. not that it's an issue though. the updater tries to not touch what it does not own.
  4. weird. did you ever touch this file? any mod or whatever? that's correct.
  5. Oh yes, it's the most user-friendly way to have 2 dcs instances.
  6. yes you can, at least for the 1.2.10 (don't remember if this works in 1.2.9, sorry): in the dcs install folder create a text file dcs_variant.txt with a single line, for example the word "newer" - without the quotes. Now your 1.2.10 install will use Saved Games\DCS.newer\ folder. you can use any word as long as it uses A-Z a-z 0-9 - _ charset (Base64url, technically).
  7. what's in those folders? it's the way it is. not that it should be this way, but your install is correct. btw, the fix for your original issue is in openbeta now. thanks for the reporting.
  8. renames are done inplace. the biggest part of the update is the new MiG-21bis AI unit.
  9. If anyone in the Openbeta camp can test the fix, please, test and report, I will push it to the release ASAP if it's good. Thanks.
  10. the problem is found. ETA for the fix: ASAP
  11. will take a look. or two.
  12. by the way, the updater does support file and folder renames. so it does NOT download everything aircraft from scratch. edit: the biggest part of the update is the AI MiG-21bis
  13. oops, I forgot to push new updater to the openbeta.... will fix asap, but empty folders will stay for those who already updated.
  14. Most likely your antivirus moved the file to quarantine. or deleted it.
  15. the file disappeared from _downloads when the updater was not looking. antivirus?
  16. I'd blame your antivirus.
  17. EN; ...) <- here should be the list of installed modules, starting with WORLD. It is empty, that's why it does not update. It looks like the last, but not the least setup stages failed to execute. If you can find latest DCS-related "Setup Log #xxx.txt" in your Temp folder, please post it, we'll try to figure out the cause. Meanwhile, you may try to repair your install manually. You should run admin command line in the game install dir and do a couple of commands, in fact, replicating those steps of the setup.exe: bin\DCS_updater.exe init EN bin\DCS_updater.exe install WORLD If you installed any additional modules, you'll have to "install" those as well.
  18. definitely graphics related. either a driver problem or a bug in some graphic overlay application.
  19. In theory, the updater can look into registry to restore the list of modules, and/or try to guess it from the remains of files which are still there. But I feel we are stretching it too far.
  20. Ok, 2 ways: 1) do a clean install If I were a support guy, I'd stop answering here, because this method is simple and robust. However, for the adventurous souls: 2) In the game install dir (this is important) bin\DCS_updater.exe init EN bin\DCS_updater.exe install WORLD F-86F ... Replace EN and F-86F to the lang and module(s) of your liking respectively. This will act like a human-aided repair. But you're on your own here. Anyway, I strongly suggest NOT to touch autoupdate.cfg and autoupdate.dat files no matter what.
  21. If you miss both, it is simpler to reinstall.
  22. The list of modules is missing WORLD for some reason. That's the problem. To fix: DCS_updater.exe install WORLD
  23. Thank you for the log and for the information.
  24. Forcing our installers to work with Steam-based DCS is a wrong idea.
  25. Please, post your autoupdate.cfg from the game install dir.
