Hi Jabo, Your RAM is a bit low, but I recommend to stay with your 4 gigs until the 1.5 or 2.0 release in order to test your cpu performance. If your computer can't deal fine with the new engine and you decide to switch to another system, maybe your actual Ram is not compatible with that one, so better to wait and see.. R9 290 and 390 ( are the same cards with different bios ) are compatible with your system, but I recommend you to buy a 970 gtx from Nvidia. Why ? Because is one of the best card regarding price/performance, and we know how the drivers of AMD for DCS World are.. probably with the new engine the AMD cards run a lot better, but I have the same dilemma months ago and I choose a Nvidia for that reason, because if I spend the money and later the AMD drivers for DCS World are rubbish again ? I like to go for the safe way in that case. And to check the compatibility the fastest way is to google your mainboard model with the component you want, probably you find a lot of people who made the same question before, and people with that configuration.
-
Well, it's true that your motherboard chipset is one of the ones with worst performances and overclock capability. Even taking this on account, I'll buy a new graphic card and try without make any more changes. Also, your processor isn't a really fast one, so buy another motherboard for it is not worth the money. I recommend you to get a new gpu and try how it works your computer, and if DCS World didn't run fine you can save money and buy another CPU+Motherboard+RAM. How much RAM do you have actually ?
-
Yes, in fact probably for our socket the available motherboards today aren't top end like the day it was released. I suggest to keep the mainboard and upgrade the memory and gpu. And try to overclock the CPU as much as you can. In my case if my mainboard dies, probably didn't replace and switch to another new computer.. Can you tell me exactly what mainboard do you have ? Edit : I make a quick search for mainboards in one of the main resellers on my country and for the socket 1155 only are 3 low end mainboards from 40 to 45 €.
-
Why do you want replace the mainboard ? Is broken ? I also have a i5 2500k , overclocked at 4.2 ghz, and sometimes isn't sufficient for DCS World ( hope this is solved with the new engine). I have 16 GB of ram, that's because when I mount my computer the memory was very cheap, but I suppose that 8 GB is sufficient. Regarding the GPU, the 970 is the best price/performance of the Nvidia cards ( The gpu brands usually use the same PCB provided by Nvidia, so the basic variant of a GPU should be the same for all brands, later there are overclocked editions, customs pcb's and refrigeration systems.. but if you are going to buy the basic 970 for example, all are the same. )

M-2000C for DCS World by RAZBAM - Available for Pre-Purchase
S-GERAT replied to MemphisBelle's topic in M-2000
Maybe at first they aren't aiming to deliver a fully realistic simulation ( don't know how their fsx/p3d planes are ) and during the development they change ( or ED ask it ) their focus to something more realistic like the other DCS modules. In my case I prefer to get the more realistic module possible, so if they're developing the fighter version I didn't need the capability to shoot Exocets if the real plane can't launch them. Same with the Mig-21, I never used the Grom.. -

Yes, we are talking about different posts.I'm talking about this one : http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2476775&postcount=1521 They're working on the efm, but is not sure that it will be ready for the beta release. -

I know the differences between the flight models, Only was appointing what Zeus said, if the development of the flight model goes well, we can get the beta with EFM, if not with the hated SFM. -

In the Mirage 2000 thread, Zeus stated they're working in the EFM for trying to include it in the beta release if the quality level is acceptable. -

Too anxious to become a beta tester, can't wait to the release ( and hoping that this time isn't subject to change ) -

I hope also that you check the fidelity of the avionics and such before giving the DCS : name.. I see it like a quality seal that should guarantee at least a certain level of realism. PS : I own a 980 ti too, but a lower cpu, if you need a beta tester for 1.5 and 2.0.. :music_whistling::lol: -

Why that statement match with the Hawk and Mirage but not with the C-101 ? I was wasted by Cichlidfan  -
In fact I have another computer in my house with a I7 920 like yours.. is a bit slower than the I5 2500k when both are overclocked but a good processor even today. I recommend you to overclock it the most you can, because the gaining of fps with that overclock is notorious. Sometimes my overclock disappear and I notice it while running DCS. I have a 980 ti GPU, and I am playing at 4k with Nvidia DSR, and the framerates are good, with punctual problems when a lot of units in some missions ( That's what I hope they fixed with the new version )
-
Thanks a lot Mate, count with my money in that case!:pilotfly:

Somebody knows if we are getting the afm/efm the first day?
-
DCS only uses a single core, so I think the difference should be 20-25 %. The problem is that replacing a 4 years old platform, and spending at least 600 € to gain a 20 % don't seems a good deal to me.. There is the i5 6600k that should work, but it's the same.. replacing nearly the whole computer to gain a 20 %...
-
That's my fear with the new engine, if ED have not enhanced the CPU usage, the new version is going to be a failure to me. In my case I'm not worried with the graphics, because all the years there are newer cards.. The problem is with the CPU's, I have a I52500k overclocked at 4.2 Ghz, and the newest processors aren't really a lot more powerful compared with mine, so the upgrade didn't worth the value.. And with my CPU a lot of times DCS World is running very bad..

The trust/weight ratio difference is brutal between them.. but sure we will see L-39 attacking during take off's and landings :music_whistling: -

If there are 21's hunting F-15 in multiplayer.. every plane have their own chance :pilotfly: But with equal pilots the L-39 not have any chance if not attacking by surprise.. -
Leatherneck Simulations Mini-Update - SEPTEMBER 2015
S-GERAT replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Somebody knows something regarding the pilot model in cockpit view ? I remember they talk about it a long time ago, but as far as I know never touch that topic again.. And from my point of view it adds a lot immersion to the sim.. PS = Cobra, be brave and reveal at least one of the incoming planes today :megalol: -

No, only mk1 eyeballs  -
And for the actual version, previously I have a 680 and replace it with a 980 ti, and everything is more smooth now, even I am running it at 4k with Nvidia DSR with very good framerates.
-
In my case I have the C-101 with the sfm and only fly it a couple of times because it. So I prefer that the developers focus their efforts to make a good pfm/afm/efm and not waste time with a sfm..

P-38 and Normandy map ?? :music_whistling:

I get my 980 ti G1 this morning, so probably I try DCS with it. Until today I was using a 680, so I hope to get a good performance boost :pilotfly:
