  1. Also, I'm pretty sure I've written off more 25T's than have ever been built, but theres allwasy one waiting for me when I load the game =) Chris
  2. True, but it's set up to facilitate the style of gameplay. It can hardly be called unrealistic, when its not trying to be. The weapons/health packs/beserk mode/adrenaline or whatever from your favourite/most hated (!) FPS, are all part of the fantasy environment. As for respawning as a different pilot. Well I'm sure that would be well handy in real life! I'd love to be able to respawn as someone else once I'm dead! It may simulate your virtual pilots death, but goes on to simulate your reincarnation as someone else! Not somthing that happens to r/l pilots too often as far as I'm aware! Chris
  3. I feel I need to point out a little somthing here. I myself enjoy simming more than FPS games, although I do enjoy a little BF2 from time to time. My point is this - people moan that it isn't realistic and that you cant just heal gun wounds with a healthpack etc. Which is true enough, but thats the point of the game, at no point does it claim to be a true representation of R/l. I also humbly submit that if Lock on was true to life, after your first major crash/pilot death from missile impact, then you should never be able to play the game again - cos your dead. Cheers -Chris
  4. OK I have a question. How is the A-320 'fly by wire' compared to other aircraft? Surely all aircraft with hydraulic control surfaces that size activate them via electrical impulses from the controls? The whole system can't be totally hydraulic including the control columns? Or is it? -Chris
  5. yep =) thats why the ground speed is about 20 knots on landing!! Chris
  6. Sure it is, in real life. However this is just a computer game. I hope you don't take real life this seriously!
  7. Really?? It's not the runway? I had no idea....! This isn't ment as a serious guide or anything, it's just a bit of fun. No need to throw your toys outta the pram. Chris
  8. i actually didnt hit the ground as hard as it looks...my mate took the video on his pc so it looks like it hits teh ground sooner than i did...still it was pretty hard...bout on the limit of what the landing gear could take. You can do it pretty smoothly, I didn't do it too well that time, slight stall just before touchdown if u notice. Chris
  9. How to land your 25T in a huge crosswind =) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GFRu0L0MWI Chris
  10. its the same thing...3T is just 3, 5T is 5 etc Chris
  11. On your way back to your airbase, have him form a wall formation along side you, then get him to close formation. If you enter the landing pattern like that and land fairly slow and smooth he should land with u. Chris
  12. In mission editor, do you/can you designate airbases as friendly or not? or do you just simply put enemy or friendly units in/around them?? Cheers -Chris
  13. Yeh I saw he got a couple of instant kills...even when he didn't, the plane was ripped to pieces! wouldn't have made the runway, burning or otherwise! -Chris
  14. Just a quick side note....I noticed in the first post you mentioned the 25t is prone to blowing up. Do you mean instantly when the missile impacts, or later on? If it's later on, then you just shut down the burning engine(s) and the plane won't explode. Chris
  15. Does anyone have a translation for what the various things on the ecran panel say? Can't read Russian unfortunately! Cheers -Chris
  16. Does that mean we will have to use them in the game in dusty/ cold conditions? What happens if you don't?? Bad things?! -Chris
  17. So will there be some sort of mode where u can target the cannon with trackir like helmet targeting? Sorry noob question but I don't have trackir yet, but if you can do that it will be well worth it!! Cheers Chris
  18. Does Lock On really perform better with Hyper Threadin Enabled? I have it disabled atm as it sometimes upsets BF2, but if it helps I might aswell use it! Chris
  19. Can anyone tellme how high I can turn the terrain precaching settings in Loman? I have 2GB RAM, no page file and 512MB of graphics RAM. Cheers Chris
  20. Heres a few of my random screenshots...some really nice dawn shots and some classic pics of landings gone wrong! http://server6.theimagehosting.com/album.php?album=7676 Chris
  21. Hi all, I've been building several basic multiplayer missions with some success, but I want to recreate somthing along the lines of the mission in the flaming cliffs campaign where you have to fly very low to avoid radar and escape to another airbase. I also want to make it so you have to fly through various valleys at avoid AAA etc. What I need to know is how the various vehicles detect you. For example, if I were to place an early warning radar, what are its detection thresholds? If we're detected by it, are units in the area more alert to our arrival? Also what are the limits of SAM and AAA sites? eg how much higher up a hillside do they have to be to not be able to detect/engage you? or can they allways get you if they can see you? Ideally I'd like to have loads of AAA all along high ridges, get a sort of death valley thing going on! Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'll post the finished mission somewhere if anyones interested! Many Thanks Chris
  22. Hi. I've read various threads on optimizations and have looked around for some of the patches mentioned but I can't seem to find any decent centralized source for them. The few I have found seem to be fairly old, so I was wondering if anyone could tell me the most essential ones, that definately work with the latest version of FC and where I can find them. Many Thanks Chris
  23. Hi When members of my flight land they get told to taxi to the parking area but i never do. When I taxi there I shut down the engines open the canopy etc but i have to press escape and exit to finish the level. I thought the level ended automatically when you parked? Do I have to tell the tower I'm inbound? when I do this, the heading they give me never seems to be the same as the auto pilot return heading I'm on. Thanks Chris
  24. The best feature in any helo sim was in Apache Longbow. To be fair I don't really have much of a frame of reference because it the only decent non arcade style chopper game I've played. But you could play co-op as pilot and gunner. Greatwith 2 machines networked side by side. Best fun I've ever had playin multiplayer. Well, that and multiplayer GTA 1 =) Chris
