Planes visibility and smooth online gameplay in DCS 2.0?
Kwiatek replied to Kwiatek's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
I think IRL average small plane spoting distance is about 4-6 km. Above it could be hard to see. IRL there could be some problem with spot a plane expecially on the ground background but when you spot him it is then quite easy to track these plane at long distances. Planes are just much bigger then in our games. So game need to simulate contacts from longer distance casue in sim planes are very small. Im RL pilot and im sure that in DCS planes spoting is way off expecially at distances above 2 km. I think actually BOS got the best spoting distance - plane ( not dot) could be visibile from 4-6 km. Still even in these game planes could be dissaperd at short distances at sky background but even these it is still much better then in DCS. -

I think Crumpp you just behave sometimes like some harcdore fanboys in BOS forum :P All beside you got problem with planes visiblilty in DCS. Maby you got other version of game or paranormal skills ;) No metter most got hope new engine will improve these so we need to wait. -
Planes visibility and smooth online gameplay in DCS 2.0?
Kwiatek replied to Kwiatek's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Fact is that in DCS actually planes beacome practically invisible above 2 kms. Mostly now in servers you looks for F5 in external view to see anyone or look for flaks or shooting casue there is not possible to see anyone above 2 km in normal way. Truly speaking DCS is the worst from most popular sims in planes visiblilty - very far from real spoting aircraft. I understand that initialy DCS was made for jet fighter with radars so visiblilty was not such imporatant but game changed for WW2 fighters and early jet where spoting enemy from long distance is essensial. ED need to find any solution to do it better casue now is really crap making these game not possible to use real life tactics ( boom and zoom etc.) -
Planes visibility and smooth online gameplay in DCS 2.0?
Kwiatek replied to Kwiatek's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Well if they know these issues and they really want to improve it i think there is a future for these game :) -
I noticed that take off now are much more natural in P-51 then before ( less robotic). I think P-51 fly really beliveable actually and i hope other planes ( Fw 190, K-4) will follow these way and level of realism in the future updates. Still i miss some more spin interia for Fw 190 D-9. K-4 should be different that D-9 and P-51 casue of slats and surly it is different.

Planes visibility and smooth online gameplay in DCS 2.0?
Kwiatek replied to Kwiatek's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Well i just try to say that if 2.0 will not improve significantly planes visilbility and will not fix online gameplay ( stutters and huge fps drop) i think potential of the game will be wasted. There would be little sense to play in large online servers ( at least 60 people) and realistic settings ( without icons) if these things will be not improved. I think it would be some waste of money also. -
Planes visibility and smooth online gameplay in DCS 2.0?

Unfortunately these is game engine issuse to me. During online gamaplay there are occasionally huge fps drop expecially when thre is somewhere a lot of shoting in the air. Fps could drop from 60 fps to even below 20 fps. It really broke online gamaplay. All my mates got the same problem. We have different system ( some got I5 or i7, Gtx 770 or similar cards). Every experienced such issuse. -
Well i really know what is it redout casue i tried it in my own skin not need wiki. In DCS Sabre pilot with negative G at high speed get blackout.

Planes visibility and smooth online gameplay in DCS 2.0?
Kwiatek replied to Kwiatek's topic in Western Europe 1944-1945
Yes in all sims planes visibility is worse then IRL. Big problem is that all game is in scale and all objects ( planes) are much smaller then IRL. But unfortunately DCS is way off in planes visiblilty. Truly speaking it is the worst from other sims ( CLOD, BOS, even old IL2). -
DCS 2.0 is very close. Actually DCS got 2 main issues which affect expecially WW2 planes and early jet fighters: 1. Very poor planes visibility expecially at distances above 1.5-2 km when planes dissapeard 2. Online stutters and occasionaly huge fps drop. If there sim want to evolve with new planes theathers etc. i would like to know if new engine ( EDGE ) will improve and fix these two main issues? Maby someone got confirmed info about these?

It is just broken child's toy effect :P -
Copy i try that. BTW these line need to be also changed for 1200 ? { shells = {"M2_50_aero_AP","M20_50_aero_APIT"}, mixes = {{1,2,2,1,2,2}}, -- count = 267, } if tbl.mixes then tbl.supply.mixes = tbl.mixes tbl.mixes = nil end tbl.gun = { max_burst_length = 150, rates = {800}, ????????? recoil_coeff = 1, barrels_count = 1, }

Doubt really if any combat simulator simulate position error of pitot :)

From chart i posted above it looks that at 260 mph IAS at 10 000 ft Fw 190 A rolls near 2 times faster then 109 G. -
I tried fixed rate of fire for 1200 in lua but unfortunatety with these changes i can;t fly F-86 anymore both offiline and online?

I got such RL roll rate comparison : -
Yes i found also that at high speed when you push stick you got immidietly blackout for a while. Not sure if it is realistic casue i know that pilot could stay about -5 G without loss of consciousness.

What Yo-Yo implement in K-4 is they only way to simulate high stick forces at high speeds. There is no other option. Before was totaly unrealistic - IRL K-4 cant be flown that way. So it is definitly right direction. Probably need still some tuning but is much more realistic then before. As i real life pilots i dont have problem to control K-4 in DCS with new stick force simuilation. Just dont concentrate what you virtual stick is doing but you need to fly a plane. I got FF stick and i have not any problem to control K-4. You now must to rememember that at high speed your plane dont react like at slow speed. YOu need now to use trim. I hope some changes we will see also in other warbirds. I hope also that some spin behaviour changes will be also tweaked in Fw 190 D-9 ;) -

Got FF stick and have no problem with actual stick forces modeled in K-4. So nothing unnatural here. IRL you will never keep stick in steady positon in such manouver casue exacly you could stall at the top of loop. When you make loop with high speed initialy you pull stick quite hard but with loop progrees you constantly easy stick and at up invert postion even you push stick forward a little. So i dont see a problem here if you know how to fly a plane. New stick forces simulation dont casue anything unnatural here and work according to real life movements ( needed stick movemement depend of speed and situation) I think there is no better way to simulate heavy stick forces in sims. YOu have to accept these fact. Maby some day someone will create force stick which could create the same stick forces like IRL but still for different planes it would be different forces so still it wouldn't be accurate. So learn to live with these casue without stick forces similaton DCS was not realistic at all. -
Well i dont think also P-51 IRL wings broke at 8 G. 7-8 G (depend of weight) was allowed G limit but ultimate load factor was 1.5 more ( so about 9-10 G). I think probably DCS casue structural fatal damages at limit load not at ultimate load?

Yes exacly quite heavy dont mean frozen :) I ask casue actually in D-9 at high speed there is no feel any heaviness. Other hand in other game Fw 190 got near frozen elevator at high speeds which seriously restricted manouverablity of these plane. -

Nice to hear. So now only K-4 got stick forces implemented? As i remember Fw 190 D-9 elevator became also quite heavy above 375 mph? http://www.wwiiaircraftperformance.org/fw190/wright-field-fw190d-9.pdf -

I think Yo-Yo made right decision with simulate stick force. Before it was totaly unrealistic - 109 could do roll at very high speeds even better then at slow to medium which was totaly absurd and unrealistic. The same with elevator controls. Maby it still need some tuning but definitly step into right direction. Any force stick now cant simulate real forces so dont say such bs... You need just to familiarize with new situation just all. Any other option is just nonsense. -

Kwiatek replied to 9.JG27 DavidRed's topic in DCS: Bf 109 K-4 Kurfürst
Its definitly step into right direction Yo-Yo. Wonder if stick forces are implement in K-4 only casue i see not much difference in D-9? I checked 109 roll rate and got quite accurate results: roll with rudder at 400 kph - ab. 4 sec, at 600 kph - about 8-9 second so similar to known data for 109 G version. Also much more heavy elevator at high speeds. Notice that at very high speeds rudder is more effective then airleons - as i remember some 109 test report claimed that rudder was the most effective control in 109 also at high speeds. I hope all non bosted controls planes will have these.
