Well if we will take vertical zoom which all take ab. 10 seconds till stall so we get about 5 seconds flying with slow to stall speed ( it could be measured more detailed with stoper) when airflow over radiator is seriously dropped. So i consider if 5 second should be really enough to rise coolant temperature from green zone to above red line close to the end of scale expecially if plane is still moving in the air ( speed>0)

Thx for replay I hope that we will get fix with 1.2.3 but if no good to know that ED know about problem and will fix it.

Ok i just follow AI in vertical manouvers and i found that if during near vertical zoom ending at stall speed temperature rise very quickly so if you made 2 or 3 such manouvers you could killed your engine even in 1-2 minutes not even using WEP so i just wonder if it is correct :) But if you say that it should be that way i have to belive :) Sry for off topic but i wonder if ED Team know about frequently huge fps drop during P-51 guns shoting and plan to fix? These is really problem in dogfights when fps drop even below 10 fps and there are heavy stutters even then when other P-51 is shoting and i dont see it. Edit. I checked again temperature rising in vertical zooms and i found that one vertical zoom from high speed till stall cause temperature rising in coolant from green zone up to end of scale --- im really concerned if it is realistic. Im sure that in sustained climb below recomended speed or very slow speed turn which is doing by some time a few minutes coolant and oil tempeature should rise more quickly but i seriously doubt that will rise such quickly during ab. 10 second vertical zoom?

I have some question about not stricte flight model but overheating modeling. I tried some dogfight in quick mission against AI. I used military power - 61Hg and 3000 RPMs (dont even touch WEP) and i found that in many case i got overheat and engine blow even below 5 minutes since mission start ( Military power theoriticaly could be used for 15 minutes). It happend many times. I notice that coolant and oil temperature rise very very quickly at slow speeds or in vertical manouvers ( which AI is constanly doing). I made for example 2 vertical zooms ending at near stall speed and temperatures during these manouvers raised imidietly from normal to maximum above red line. I wonder if really temperatures should rise so quickly?

GGTharos do you know if fps drops during firing guns in P-51 module would be fixed? It is serious issue in DCS P-51 during dogfights expecially when fps drop below 10 fps and casue heavy stutters. Without firing a guns gameplay is smooth.

I hope ED will fix frequently fps drop casued by P-51 firing guns. I got frequently fps drop even below 10 fps when any P-51 firing guns - even if i dont see it. Similar problem have other guys when we played online - they reported the same problem. Normally i got 60-30 fps.

Question for Yo-Yo regarding stall characteritic of DCS P-51. I just wonder about critical angle of attack for DCS P-51? What data is used here? If it want be a problem maby you could post here CL max/ cAoA polar?

I sometimes host server with P-51 Vs P-51. Probably today in the evening server will be open ab. 20:00 (GMT+1). There will be a few bad guys. Server name is 303Sqn P-51 Dog. So welcome.

did he just say they are developing the FW190?

Yep B-17 too and European map and we will get the best WW2 combat sim ever :) -

Good new. I can't wait. And i hope next will be 109 and SPitfire :pilotfly: -
So what you did? I got Q6600@3.2ghz + gtx 560TI and i got huge fps during firing ( also when other firing too). Any solution? Edit. Tried disable 0.50 cal shell but not help. Still huge fps drop with firing rounds from any plane - sometimes more sometimes less fps drop

I talked with A2A chief and he said that they are not interested in making WW2 and any other planes for DCS World. They are stuck with FSX engine :(

Personally i think that DCS P-51 is little to easy to prone to accelerated stall. I think it shouldn't happend so fast at medium speed range comparing to stick momevement ( not violents manouvers). But i didnt flew real P-51 alhought i fly IRL aerobatic planes (Zlin 526F) and gliders. I really wonder what would say real P-51 pilot who tried DCS P-51.

Yes CLoD has some engine managment operation but still it is too simplificated but also too bugy and it is not possible to fly it according to manual. The most close is 109 alhought still some thing are wrong e.x. WEP engine power ratings possible to use at higher altitutudes. Also performacne of all planes in CLOD are off comparing to RL data not mention that high altitutde model is totally crap - all planes have reduced performacne at higher alts and much too low service celling comparing to RL data. Flight phycis in CLOD is not so bad if Su26 could make most aerobatic manouvers like in real life. I think landings in CLoD are too simplificated and to easy comparing to real planes. DCS engine and P-51 is much better regarding engine managment it could be flown according to manual and all system of plane are moddeled. Flight physcis is very high level - landings and take off are very realistic the same behaviour in the air. I think in some cases it could be even harder then in real life ( take offs with flaps on and unexpected stall in some manouvers) :) Also performacne of P-51 is very accurate and very close to RL data. FSX engine maby is good for avionics of planes, system of planes and flight procedures but regarding stricte flight phycisc it is very poor modeled even worse then CLOD or IL2. Landings are very simplificate and i never seen natural spin behaviour in any FSX plane. Even A2A Accu Sim planes dont change these. They are also limited by FSX flight phycis engine.

I tested DCS P-51 ( full wing fuel tanks from deck) and i reached 12 300m / 41 000 ft - so it is very accurate results comparing to RL data.
-
RL P-51 D should reach : 4.Time to climb to service ceiling, war emergency power (3000 RPM and 67") (41600') - 28 minutes And from Mustang IV ( D) RAF chart: Service celling: max weight - 40 500 ft mean weight - 41 500 ft 28 minutes.
-
The only choice is 109 or 190 or better both of them.
-
It looks that DCS have really great FM engine which can reproduce very acccurate performance of P-51 and probalby other planes too :) I think now it is time for other warbirds - Bf109 or Fw190. I think all WW2 community desperadly need them. Dream is to get Europe map with WW2 warbirds with DCS engine - im sure it would be great success even greater then jet era :)
-
Yea it is true that DSC P-51 has noticable and nice sings of stall (buffeting) but still in my opinion in combat expecially in turns or pull ups it happened where it shouldn't be yet expected - i mean i too early with stick/elevator deflection. These is just my personal feeling and guess but im wonder what could say RL P-51 pilot.
-
What mean ACMI? It is not only my feeling but also coming from my mates which use different joysticks even one got much longer moded stick although they are not a RL pilots and have only combat sims experience.
-
Interesting. I haven't flow real P-51 yet ( :P) but i flew aerobatic planes and gliders and from my feeling DCS P-51 could be harder to fly in the air then real one. I have some doubts that real thing could stall so easly expecially at medium speed range 200-300 mph and with not too much stick deflection. I think it could be possible with aft COG ( full rear fuel tank fillled) but with normal condition to combat it should be more easier. It looks like for me that DCS P-51 has very low critical angle of attack which is very easy to pass in game. Yes i know that our sticks have much less movement than real sticks but still i think it shouldn't be the case. But it is only my feeling as a RL pilot ( unfortunately not P-51 one).

HI! After some DCS P-51 flight and combat test i found that plane is very prone to stall even at medium speed range ( 300-250 mph) and not so much stick deflection. I know that P-51 has laminar wing profile (which is not good in high angle of attack ) but i still wonder if it is correct that she stall so fast? As a real life pilot with some aerobatic plane experience ( ZLin 526) it is quite hard to belive for me that real P-51 stall so much like in DCS i mean it happend so fast comparing to stick movement. I wonder if developers didn't overdone some stall characterisic in P-51? These is the most questionable thing in DCS P-51 flight model engine for me, maby also some take off problems which in DCS are unexpectedly more problematic then landings :) But generally flight model and immersion from flying is very high in DCS P-51.
