  1. Interesting video from 1945 about dynamic stall and spin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaL1NcJs1jw
  2. Dynamical stall and spin are somwhere off in DCS prop planes. These kites are just too easy comparing to RL situations. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=223403
  3. Belive me in real life pilots afraid of stall and spin at low altitude expecially these whose flying such beast like M-18B ( 1000 HP big 4 bladed prop and with water load - take off mass 5000 kg) - why? Beacause there were many deadly accidents during flights expecially spins during deep turn ( both with water load and after drop water when they want to see back how they hit the fire). And M-18B got really quite long and big wings area ( 40 m2, wingspan - near 18 m ) I tried to do many brutal manouvers in DCS WW2 planes and my conclusion is they are much too forgive for such beasts. BOX is much more close to beliveable for me. I tried also DCS F-86 Sabre and im really positive here - these plane is much more beliveable regarding stall and spins to me. I think in DCS could be problem for game engine with some props effect contecting with stall/spin behavoiur of these planes. F-86 is jet engine and behave much more naturally to me. Similar problem i see with take offs - WW2 planes in DCS behave in some ascpets too mechanical - like game engine got some problem with some effetcs to compesate it.
  4. I was quite long time off from playing sims ( busy with RL flying ) but now i got some time and back to DCS and BOX. I compare both game regarding flight physics expecially dynamic stall and spin and i have to say to BOX is more close what i think to RL expercience. Im actually flying M-18B Dromader ( 1000 HP radial engine - firefight plane) also Zlin 526 F ( aerobatic plane old fashion ) and Mustang Midget - so i got some experience with both heavy planes with big engine and prop ( M18B is like smaller P-47 ) and also smaller aerobatic planes. I tried DCS D-9, P-51 and 109 K-4 also F-86 Sabe ( i dont have others yet) and i must say that regarding stall/spin characterstic expecially dynaminal ones the closest to me is F-86. P-51 is quite good but i think still it got problem with dynamical stall/spin with engine working expecially in right side. Other got even more problems. I think that DCS flight physic could got some problem with prop planes at power regarding stall/spin characterstic. It is like rotating prop ( engine) cause some stop power for spin/stall of plane. I really tried to rape planes in different manuvers ( loops, hard climbing turns etc) and i think these planes behave much to forgiving. Trying the same in BOX planes and they behave much more what i expected - more natural - there is no such block tendecy casued by rotataing prop ( engine). Look here i found some videos with crash of similar aircracft beacuse of dynamic stall and spin: Its really hard to reproduce similar actions with DCS WW2 planes other hand in BOX is more accurate here.
  5. It doesnt hurt if there will be option for every plane ( or group of planes) in setup game menu. The same like adjustable speed of ZOOM. It is really annoying when i decrasing ZOOM and get these crap unrealistic fish eye. Other sims there is really no problem with these casue they got realistic default view ( without changing anything here)
  6. Default is fishy eyey with too high FOV ( WTF??) Second is like it supposed to be maximum FOV
  7. Hey i dont want to instant zoom just smooth one which i could focus on interested area with changing zooming. In other sims you could smooth zoom IN and OUT with adjustable speed as you desire. Also deafult maximum FOV is way too high which casue abnormal cocpit view. Check how it works in BOX or CLOD. There are realistic restricted FOV as were in cocpit of real plane and also you could adjust ZOOM IN and OUT speed. I increased zoom speed in lua files but still there is a problem with unrealistic cocpit view at too high FOV - 140 degrees. To got realistic view from cocpit maximum FOV should be about 110 degrees.
  8. I think it is quite simple coding to do these and i think it is a must thing for DCS. Other sims make it good way why DCS should be off here?
  9. HI It would be good if developer could do something with more realistic FOV limits and also about ZOOM IN and OUT adjustable speed. In default game in single monitor FOV limits are not realistic at all. Before i was forced to edit lua and confing files for every plane i got to limit FOV to e.x. 110-120 degres to got more realistic cocpit view then wrong default 140 degres. It is absurd that we need to combine and edit some files to get more realistic view from cocpit expecially when you used ZOOM IN and OUT scaning. Even worse that editing original files cause not permit to online gameply. Also i think like it is in other sims ZOOM IN and OUT command should have adjustable SPEED casue default speed it way too slow. I was need to editing View file in Config folder to these: ockpitMouse = true --false CockpitMouseSpeedSlow = 1.0 CockpitMouseSpeedNormal = 10.0 CockpitMouseSpeedFast = 20.0 CockpitKeyboardAccelerationSlow = 5.0 CockpitKeyboardAccelerationNormal = 30.0 CockpitKeyboardAccelerationFast = 80.0 CockpitKeyboardZoomAcceleration = 500.0 DisableSnapViewsSaving = false UseDefaultSnapViews = true CockpitPanStepHor = 45.0 CockpitPanStepVert = 30.0 CockpitNyMove = true CockpitHAngleAccelerateTimeMax = 0.15 CockpitVAngleAccelerateTimeMax = 0.15 CockpitZoomAccelerateTimeMax = 3.0 to get more faster zoom speed. Plz make some options in menu for changing ZOOM speed and also for every plane in game to options for restricted maximum FOV to get more realisitc cocpit view without stupid editing original files and allow to play online. Other hand playing such game is annoying. S!
  10. Could help more details here? What lines You copied ? I would like to limit FOV to most planes i got to 110-120 degress like i was used to do it long time ago but actually i filed with new versions of game ::( BTW file server.lua is not in Saved Games folder but in main folder of Your Game
  11. Im not sure how it works but i got question I used to use 2 buttons for zoom in and zoom out ( smooth zoom which i just increased speed casue default is too slow). Only problem i got that in some cocpits where i zoom out it go to default value - 140 deg which is too high and urealistic. Before i edited some lua files and restrict FOV angle limit to 110-120 degres which is much more realistic . How can i do it now?
  12. Bum the topic. Is any solution find yet? I found most planes got unrealistic maximum FOV. It should be restritced to about 100-120 degrees instead of default 140. Its really annoying thing. Also why still we cant change zoom speed?? Like it is ex. in BOX? BTW in BOX we got also more realistic maximum FOV without editing and changing anything.
  13. HI I wonder how now to restric default FOV like i used it before ( edited view and lua files long time ago) Some planes like FC planes got accurate maximum FOV but some planes got too wide view which is absurd - 140 degres instead about 100-120. It is totaly unrealisitc. How now in 2.5 restric these FOV from 140 to 120 or 100? I dont have axis for zoom only use buttons. Any help?
  14. Any info if trees on new map will be collide?
  15. Saitek Evo Force for 10 years and i dont want to go for other stick still
  16. I updated 2nd version from 1.5.3 to 1.5.5 and also FF gone. I used updated version in both cases. Tried repair but no changes.
  17. Thank You. I updated my second version to 1.5.5 ( from 1.5.3) and also my force feedback effects gone :(
  18. Strange is that i got 2 version of DCS and oldest version work ok ( 1.5.3) but newest ( 1.5.5.) dont work with the same settings. Strange is that as You said Your FF work ok in latest version.
  19. Anyone have problem with force feedback in latest version? My FF effects completly gone with 1.5.5.60565 even if FF is enabled in options. Any idea? I got Saitek Evo Force
  20. I checked latest version 1.5.5.60565 and found that force feedback effects dont work . ( Force Feedback is enabled in game options) I got 2nd version of 1.5.3 and force feedback work ok for me. Checked WW2 fighters planes in DCS. I got Saitek Evo Force
  21. Thx Yo-Yo for your replay. I think i understand problem with estimated Clmax for Fw 190 expecially based on too low velocity tunnel test and lack of other tunnel test and data directly for Fw 190. I wonder one thing casue in some Fw 190 data German put 1.58 Clmax value? I checked by simple stall speed test in game for D-9 and got she has about 17 deg cAoA ( at least no less)?
  22. If it is not top secret information i really appreciate Yo-Yo if you could answer some data about Fw 190 wing polar. These is German document which show Fw 190 Clmax without aircreew effect clmax 1.2 and cAoA 15.5 deg ( clean configuration) \ Some find that these test got error and Clmax and cAoA got should be higher for Fw 190 ? I wonder DCS D-9 is based on which data and how looks Clmax and cAoA for these bird?
  23. K-4 got higher tailwheel maby these is a reason for easly prop strikes? Higher or longer tailwheel could casue more drift effect during taxi? Generally 109 got heavy tail on the ground and pilot could use full brakes without too much risk of prop strike contrary to e.x. Spitfire. BTW found suprisly that 109 ground turns in BOS is very accurate done - it required proper technik - add throttle, kick rudder and stick forward ( too lightened tail)
  24. Nose heavy trimm needed with speed increase mean that plane got positive longitudal stability. The same when deacelerate its need nose up trimm position to counter nose down tendency. E.x flaps down generaly casue pitch down tendency ( CP is moved backward but also CL is rise) but it is also depend of downwash and its influence for horizontal tail. If downwash AoA in tail will be high it would casue stronge tail down tendency which could overide wing nose down tendency :P
  25. Critical angle of attack is not a function of speed. YOu could reach or pass cAoA both at slow as a high speeds. So if you are in turn and your slats are open its mean that you are closing to cAoA and you could expect stall buffeting.
