Nice :) Glad you got it sorted.

Cheers Kuky :) Yeah that's right. I've actually found that it's helps a bit with SA having the mirrors there. Can you tell me what you did David? Mod should be working fine!
-
Thanks Mustang. And thanks SkateZilla, I think.

Hi all, since upgrading to a decent PC, I started playing around with having mirrors enabled. While I was doing this it suddenly dawned on me that it's possible to mod the mirrors so they remain static and don't destroy your FPS. Use JSGME to install (alternatively just overwrite the files in your DCS World directory, but don't come crying to me if you don't back up and want to 'uninstall'!) Remember to enable mirrors in your game options! Unfortunately, I couldn't get this to work with the FC3 aircraft. I'm sure someone around here can help though ;) Hope you like it...Here's some screens! EZ to install, and EZ on your PC ;) Ebs EZ Mirrors MOD.zip

Ebs replied to RICARDO's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
this is GORGEOUS. AMAZING. As of now I'm officially retiring my own one (Devrim, why do you never mention it? it was out before 'G Blue') anyway, http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=97425 Eagerly awaiting this one from Ricardo. Unbelievable. Ricardo, if you're interested. ZMEY-HS- did the russian version of your black pit. Maybe he'll send you the psds for the russian text labels? I don't personally use the russian version but it's nice to have options :) -
What? Another one of those "Help me choose a PC!" threads?...
Ebs replied to Ebs's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I did indeed! Here's what I went with. I went to the local store and picked it all up last night... Intel Core i5-3570K processor (3.4 GHz) Corsair CX600 V2 (600w) Asus P8Z77-V LX NVIDIA GTX 660 Ti 2GB Corsair Vengeance 8GB (1600Mhz) Now, bear in mind that I've only just had the time to get it all set up. The true test will come this weekend ;) So far though, the system screams along in DCS with everything maxed out and nothing's overclocked yet. The difference is night and day compared to my trusty old C2D with GTX260. with that DCS was tweaked to hell and back with roughly medium-low settings in game. 2xAA and 2xAF...compared to 8xAA and 16xAF now. Mirrors on, HDR, water high...max tree distance etc etc. Like I said though, tune in for more at the weekend ;) Thanks again to the guys who gave me great advice. Really really appreciate it! -
I hope so fella. I'm going to pick it up this week :)

What? Another one of those "Help me choose a PC!" threads?...
Ebs replied to Ebs's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Cheers! EDIT: I'm considering an SSD too so that's a big help. might have to wait a month or two though. I just found a few threads from various forums comparing these exact motherboards. There's only 16 euros difference but the ASRock edges it. So looks like I'll go with that and the 660Ti Thanks again! Ebs -

with regards to Mobo's. Which one? ASUS P8Z77-V LX Motherboard Socket 1155 (Intel Z77, 4x DDR3 memory, PCI-E, ATX, 4x USB 3.0) or the previous ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Socket 1155 Motherboard (ATX, Intel Z77, 4x DDR3, DVI-D, HDMI, 4x SATA II, 2x USB 3.0) -

Cheers guys. I really appreciate the advice! How about this then...I've just checked quickly... ASRock Z77 Extreme4 Socket 1155 Motherboard (ATX, Intel Z77, 4x DDR3, DVI-D, HDMI, 4x SATA II, 2x USB 3.0) and Gigabyte GV-N66TWF2-2GD NVIDIA GTX 660 Ti graphics card (PCI-e, 2GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, 1GPU) Are the brands alright? ASRock and Gigabyte? They've upped my cost around 100 euros more. Hope it's worth it! -
...Yep, that's right! I'm currently running an E8400 C2D OC'ed at 3.4Ghz, nvidia GTX 260 and 4GB of RAM. While it's served me well, it's getting a bit long in the tooth. Here's what I'm looking at. Intel Core i5-3570K processor (3.4 GHz, 6MB Cache, Socket 1155) boxed Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3 motherboard socket LGA 1155 Z68 ATX DDR3 Memory Sparkle NVIDIA GTX 560 Ti graphics card (PCI-e, 1GB GDDR5, DVI, HDMI, 1 GPU) Kingston HyperX PC3-12800 8GB RAM (1600 MHz, 240-Pin) DDR3 RAM Kit Antec Sonata IV ATX PC case with power supply 620 watt black Any suggestions? I've been out of the loop with regards to PC Hardware for a while, so please talk me out of it before I hand over 687 Euros! :) Cheers, Ebs

Thanks for the replies guys. I had a feeling I was overestimating a bit too much! Eddie I realise you're a tester but it appears that there is indeed some form of fragmentation going on in the sim. Together with variables that deal with type of surface impact (only concrete or not concrete at the moment, but it's a start!) upping those 'factors' gives some interesting results ;) danilop: I hadn't realised the blast radius was *that* small!

Hi all, I'm not one for complaining about weapons data (given that what I know about weapons could be printed on the back of a postage stamp) but to me the GBU-12 warhead seems very weak. Last week, I played a Dragon mission online where one objective was to destroy a hind on a runway. I landed a GBU-12 within 10m of the stationary hind and the hind just shrugged off the explosion. It didn't appear to be damaged at all. Granted, a direct hit with a GBU-12 will take out almost anything but there's hardly any splash damage. With this in mind I set up a little testing mission with a fair number of targets at an airbase... I set my impact point to be between the two choppers. In the screenshot you can see the 'crater' left behind from the first gbu-12 (that's a crater from a 500lb bomb (?)) The first bomb disabled the choppers...I expected more damage to be honest! The is the second group of targets on the runway. A direct hit to the truck.... But what happened to the other trucks that were right next to the blast? THEY DROVE AWAY Like I said, maybe it's just me. My weapons knowledge comes from Schwarzenegger movies but shouldn't the splash damage be a *bit* more effective?... Cheers, Ebs.

KA-50: Functioning Iglas (POC) Howto!...
Ebs replied to Ebs's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
There's a lot of controversy over what the KA-50 can and cannot carry. It's possible to mod extra pylons for a semi-wingtip appearance but obviously I'm having trouble selecting these extra pylons from the cockpit. Might be doable though! I'll release the files later as an unfinished mod in this thread so people can take a look at how it's done. -
I decided to start a new thread rather than clutter up the Maverick thread with this stuff so here goes... Tyger mentioned that he would like to see wingtipped Iglas on the Black Shark so I started to experiment. This first bit of information is not new. To add a weapon to an aircraft you simply find the CLSID of the weapon and add it to the aircraft pylon list. The file you're looking for is \DCS World\Scripts\Database\db_weapons_data.lua This contains the weapons data for everything in DCS:W and we see that the Igla is... Note the extended character in the CLSID (this threw me for a bit!) It's listed under it's NATO reporting name "Grouse". So, now we have our CLSID we need to make it selectable for a pylon. \DCS World\Scripts\Database\Helicopters\Ka-50.lua Done! now you can load that bad boy on the shark. Take off, lock on to some scumbag enemy fighter and hit fire!...WATCH AS HE BU....oh wait, nothing happened...I suppose we should actually get the igla to fire right? OK. The KA-50 is only capable of firing Laser Homing based weapons. The Igla is an IR based weapon. So let's trick world into thinking the igla is laser based. look for... \DCS World\Config\Weapons\missiles_data.lua and find the igla in there :o there it is! if we take a look at the comments at the top of the file we'll see the various head options and what they're for. We want Laser Homing so we'll change the head type to 4. NOW WE CAN FIRE IT RIGHT?...well, not yet. There's one more piece of information that took me a while to figure out. Take a look at this again... That attributes line is the key to getting stuff to work and last night I managed to decode it. The attriubute parameters uses \DCS World\Scripts\Database\wsTypes.lua and \DCS World\Scripts\Database\Types.lua files to 'create' the weapon. First it looks in wsTypes.lua the file is commented with "level 1, level 2" etc. which proved to be a great help initially. Let's look for our attriubutes of 4, 4, 34, 91. So level 1...4 wsType_Weapon = 4 level 2...4 wsType_Missile = 4 level 3...34 wsType_SA_Missile = 34 nice. the last attribute is taken from Types.lua. so look for 91 in there. wstype_missiles[91] = {wsType_Weapon, wsType_Missile, wsType_SA_Missile} -- Igla_1E Yup, there it is. Now, the Igla won't fire with those attributes on the black shark so we need to figure out the attributes that will make it fire. the first two 4, 4 is ok as the weapon is indeed a 'weapon' and a 'missile' the last one 91 is also fine as we need it to fire the Igla. The problem is '34' The shark refuses to fire a SAM...regardless of how nicely you ask. so a quick look through our level three list again in wsTypes.lua well well well!....the shark can for sure fire Air to Surface weapons so lets try for that '8' So after all that, this is out new addition So that's how to convert an IR igla into a launchable Laser Homing missile for the Black Shark. This can be in theory used for any weapon available in DCS:W so give it a go! Thanks, Ebs.

c'mon xeno, give me a break. Alright, yes it does track. It works great. But its Laser Homing and not IR (I tried a few weapons with the various heads. The KA50 will not fire anything other than Laser weapons.) It's also possible to add more pylons to the Kamov. No extra 3D model needed. I'm currently positioning the iglas so they appear to be mounted on the wingtips...we'll see if it works out. BUT...I'm sure I'll have problems selecting these new pylons from the pit. Might be able to work round it, might not!

no longer works The Ultimate DCS World JSGME Guide - If you use mods, you need this.
Ebs replied to Ebs's topic in DCS Modding
Hey CHSubZero, JSGME isn't able to 'inject' single files into zips, which is a shame! The only way would be to create the enhanced zip. -
Nice one! Good work :)

Thanks for the kind words guys, I really appreciate it! Is anyone interested in an update of this? I made a few corrections to the pit... * Darkened all the grey areas for better contrast * Finally got the EXTERNAL views to work! :D * created a brand new SHKVAL mask (looks very close to a real shkval seen in a youtube video) If anyones interested, I'll release TRUE BLUE TWO. ;) new pit.
