HILOK replied to funkyfranky's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues

ADD ALIAS VAICOM PRO ADD ALIAS VAICOM PRO --------------------------- here is the transcript of the process i used. it may not be the only or best way to do it, but it worked reliably well for me, and i also like the transparent aspect of it (you see what you are doing): open VAICOM config window>Editor before starting any manipulation, note command phrase counter FYI: before application of [FINISH], it is possible to revert to default using [RELOAD] -> confirm w/counter use [dropdown] to select command phrase to append new alias(es) to click [ADD NEW] -> note word counter increment and "<alias><n>" appear in command phrase text input box repeat for all aliases you whish to add click [EXPORT] -> windows folder opens copy "keywords.csv" to a suitable different place of your choice to keep it safe edit the copy of "keywords.csv" using notes++ (!!) or similar (i.e. NOT WINDOWS NOTEPAD) find new alias(es) (usually item(s) 316+ around editor line 319) note every alias is appended by '1's replace the part(s) with the '1's with the phrase of your choice; save back in VAICOM>Editor, click white circular icon with right arrow symbol (lower right) that will change the [EXPORT] icon to [iMPORT] import the edited "keywords.csv" file select [NO] "add aliases and keep existing" go through your edits by selecting the respective command phrase and cycling through all aliases using the icon to the right of the text input box; incorrect additions may be deleted safely by selecting them and clicking on [DELETE] when happy, click [FINISH] and follow instructions...

ADD ALIAS VAICOM PRO thanks everyone for your help, especially MAXsenna! for a long time i've been wishing to add aliases to some of the default phrases, but didnt know how. i was also very pleased to see the recent update didnt erase my profile. here's what i changed: [OLD] request landing [NEW] "fully established", "on final" (get landing clearance after overhead break) [NEW] "down and locked", "three green" (during straight-in as reply to tower saying "check gear down" -> get landing clearance) [OLD] request taxi for takeoff [NEW] "request taxi" [OLD] request taxi to parking [NEW] "runway vacated" (kinda superfluous, as tower calls you anyway right after vacating) these were the only gripes i had with VAICOM, and now i am very happy with it! cheers hilok

[MOOSE] RAT - Random Air Traffic
HILOK replied to funkyfranky's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
nope! looked very promising though, hence my post, but unfortunately no luck so far... -
hey thanks a lot for sharing these instructions! i will see, if i can make that work tomorrow, and report back. have you tried leaving the "alias1" as is, and edit the profile in an advanced editor like notes++, then replace all instances of "alias1" with the new phrase? -if that makes sense...this way you could actually verify, what you are doing?
-
hey maxsenna, no problem, thanks for caring anyway! : ) if you don't mind, could you please post in short what you do after clicking on the "add new" (alias) button in the vaicom editor window? thanks.

in case you are still looking for an answer, it is here https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4215291&postcount=1922 apparently the fix doesn't solve the problem for the NTTR map -
thanks a lot for the in-depth explanation! that's interesting. so you're not using vaicom's built-in "add alias" function at all?
-
@maxsenna yes i have ; ) but that's another story and kinda off-topic here...:D regarding the process of editing/adding own voice commands: could someone pls point me to a step by step guide or pm me? i had a look at the doc (again), but i find that it's not very clear down to the bottom how to do it. don't wanna screw things up, since everything works so nicely right now. thanks.
-
oh, and sorry, i think i was not very clear in my previous post. didn't mean to say i need one command for two requests, just they seemed redundant for me anyway (see post above)...
-
thanks for the reply. as far as civil aviation goes, you would just say "request taxi", because you already asked for start-up, they have your flight plan etc, and it is absolutely clear to all that you intend to line up for take-off. unless you need to do sth else for technical reasons and what not, in which case you would tell them, and get instructions accordingly. so in that respect, i don't know why we have 2 different requests in the game... regarding military aviation, i heard that communications would sometimes be kept to minimum, because everything is organized by timing. so maybe not even "request taxi". that probably only applies to exclusively military fields.
-
hey scuby, thanks for the quick reply! good to know it worked out, and can be saved for future updates. i think "...for takeoff" is actually sufficient in the current ATC state ("...to runway" is kinda superfluous). i will see, if i can make this work... thanks hilok
-
that's exactly what i was wishing to have for a long time, but didn't dare doing out of fear to mess up the whole profile. having a "request taxi" command for both [taxi to runway] and [taxi for takeoff] would feel much more natural to me. also thought that, in order to prevent mismatches, "request taxi to parking" could be replaced by "runway vacated". pls let me know, if you manage to do that. anyway, i wonder if the process would have to be repeated, every time a new vaicom update comes out? thanks.
-
thanks for the hint! didn't know that. guess i will have to have a look at this some time...
-
hey f4l0, sorry to hear about this! that definitely crosses the line (or it's probably just a kid without manners...lol). please don't be discouraged. as you surely know by now, your work is greatly appreciated amongst the jetseat community. me, i just can't dcs without it anymore. in fact, i got so much used to all the feedback SSA is providing, that it feels odd, when it's missing : ) keep up the good work! cheers hilok (btw, i have setting screenshots from february, so not much harm done anyway...)

[MOOSE] RAT - Random Air Traffic
HILOK replied to funkyfranky's topic in Scripting Tips, Tricks & Issues
any news on that matter? same here, CAM RAT demo instant missions also not showing any traffic... -
did you export your settings before the update, or did s4a do that automatically? thanks.
-
yep! +1 on this
-
great! thanks, f4l0 : )
-
thanks for the info! i guess using TARGET is not an option for me, as i like to keep my controls DX-only...but will have a look at exposed variables. anyway thanks
-
yes. the real hardware/HOTAS switches used for PTT vary from one a/c to another, and i like to replicate that on my HOTAS. AFAIK currently the only way to change PTT -> TX mapping is editing the profile within voice attack, i.e. re-mapping the TX nodes to one's HOTAS switches. I thought the VAICOM app launcher could be a good opportunity to overcome this by saving different VAICOM profiles (with different TX mappings) for every a/c. any profile could then (hopefully) be loaded via popup menu from the app's taskbar icon. hope that makes sense...
-
what a great addition - thank you, hollywood! maybe this is already in plans, but do you think it would be feasible to have a taskbar-popup menu letting us switch between profiles? this way -i hope- we could easily switch PTT joystick mappings per aircraft module. thanks
-
in that case it should be fairly easy to make it an option, so everybody is happy : ) would also prefer the red digits...
