just a quick update for anybody interested. I got most of it off by rubbing with a piece of dry paper towel. (destilled water didn't work). still wondering where it came from though, and how to prevent it from coming back - the oxidised aluminum theory seems the most probable so far...

thanks, guys! @debolestis: i didn't use any soap so far... @zius: interesting thought, will investigate...

Hi everyone, has anyone seen this already, or has a hint to what happened? - I got a B8 grip from ebay, which turned white after storage for about 5 years. Now it is covered with white sticky powdery stuff. It can be rubbed off, but I would like to know what it is. I am thinking fungus, which is odd, because it was stored in a dry place inside a plastic box with other cockpit parts that don't show any signs of fungus whatsoever... Thanks HiLok

since ED announced an update for the black shark, i thought i'll just throw in my 2c. my wishlist (beside the facelift, which apparently is already on ED's list) in order of priority: - proper INU alignment during cold start procedures (timer, quality indication) - fix fuel gauge indicating without electrical power (i.e. when fuel qty switch set to off) - working volt meter/amp meter (rear panel) - functional CBs please ED, this bird needs some love! : )

thanks. i am on open beta already, and he is switching from release to open beta. but the question remains. are all problems reported earlier in this thread history, or are other users also experiencing significant differences in servers listed?

performance gain from i5 4690k to i7 4790k
HILOK replied to HILOK's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
oceandar, thanks for the gpu suggestion -i was already looking into that direction. demon, thanks for the little course in HT -i was in doubt whether the i7 brings an added value for games compared to the i5 (mainly because most gamers have i7's), but that pretty much nailed it down for me : ) thank you very much, guys! cheers, HiLok -

performance gain from i5 4690k to i7 4790k
HILOK replied to HILOK's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
thanks, bitmaster! from what i understand, there isn't much to gain from the i7 for DCS other than a little more on the clock frequency... -
happy easter everybody! i know this has been discussed over and over and i don't want to start a new debate. i just hope that by throughing in my question, some people who have actually done the same could help me take the right decision. i can basically narrow it down to this: how much gain in performance can i expect by replacing an i5 4690k @ 4.2GHz with an i7 4790k max overclocked (board: ASRock Z97 Pro4)? Thanks, everybody. cheers, HiLok

Anyone making Warthog extensions any more?.
HILOK replied to Lucky's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
any progress here??? :) cheers, HiLok -
hi mate, short answer, yes, it will "work". but a few things to consider: - asaik, GF stuff is not supported within DCSW, so you'll have to use their soft GF-KEYS and map keystrokes to the devices; meaning that the landing gear LEDs wont work, and the RP48 rotaries won't feel like in a real aircraft (i.e. they could suffer some delays, when used for e.g. the heading bug) - that being said, unless you're planning to build a generic pit that you will use with FS9/X or Xplane and occasionally with DCSW, GF is a very expensive solution considering what you get. you can easily build panels using pushbuttons, toggle switches as well as rotary encoders for about half the price using f.i. leo bodnars controllers. just look up on youtube, plenty of tutorials there ... hope that helps for your decision making. cheers, HiLok

could anyone using the TFS please tell me, if the device is able to provide g-"feeling" like the bergison g-seat? (http://meintourenbuch.net/simpit/g-seat-media) or does it only vibrate? thanks, HiLok
-
well i can tell you that it works for the gf-lgt and the rp-8... : )
-
cant you just use GF-keys and map keystrokes to your modules?
