  1. good job, thank you very much! looking forward to see, if there's gonna be significant deviation from this trend analysis at the end of the poll: )
  2. thanks! this or have a look at last friday's newsletter.
  3. again, it's just a copy & paste of the original poll list to save some people who might find this useful a few clicks. you may use it, OR, you can just leave it.
  4. +1 i am sharing that view of things, very good idea!
  5. this is NOT a poll, it's supposed to help people make up their decisions for the actual poll
  6. hi everyone, this is a copy/paste of ED's original voting list. i made this initially in order to help me in my own decision process, before placing my personal ranking. thought it might be useful to some of you... seems like a lot of people did not place their votes yet, so i hope it's not too late that i add some information to features that don't seem self-explanatory -at least not to me ;) i am NOT the author of the poll, NOR do i intend to influence anyone of you guys. some people reported to have misunderstood the ranking principle, so here are the poll rules: you may rank each of the 41 features from 10 (highest priority) to 1 (lowest priority). poll link: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/bitrix/tools/track_mail_click.php?tag=sender.eyJSRUNJUElFTlRfSUQiOiIyNjg4NDg1NCJ9&url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.google.com%2Fforms%2Fd%2Fe%2F1FAIpQLSfKuQ53phRBCLQT03QFLX18UcA2UiibvZO6uvGeosGRPhpYrg%2Fviewform%3Fbx_sender_conversion_id%3D26884854%26utm_source%3Dnewsletter%26utm_medium%3Dmail%26utm_campaign%3Dweekend_news&sign=7c7c8930e6c6fe79b965333df11f9aa4052160bc75221374b460f9d69c7dbf0c - or - last friday's newsletter have fun voting  HORNET DEVELOPMENT FEATURES for 2020 and 2021 ------------------------------------------------------------ ATFLIR Advanced Targeting Forward Looking Infrared https://fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/smart/atflir.htm New and updated HOTAS functions depending on master mode, radar mode, weapon selected etc. some HOTAS switches have different/additional functions AG radar. 7. great list, Wags, thank you very much! if i may, i would suggest as a general rule (for any module) to prioritize implementation of features that would produce "negative learning" when missing. this may not so much apply to items that everybody can add to their flows, although they have no effect, like a pitot switch. but it matters, if you start to learn doing things in a cumbersome or wrong way, because a functionality is simply not there. cheers HiLok
  8. oh that's ok for me, as long as there is a source where we can look up the current state of things
  9. exactly this. i have been reading about the ECM part in the EA guide recently, and been wondering what i did wrong... later i found out that this feature is not implemented yet. that being said, yes, a feature implemented list would come in handy : ) thanks hilok
  10. same here. the issue started today, although i updated OB on friday...so probably not directly related to the update
  11. all i needed to know -thanks guys!
  12. hi everyone, so many people still seem to have problems getting VAICOMPRO to run correctly... if i updated DCS from 2.5.5x to 2.5.6x today, updated VAICOMPRO to the latest, and followed the manual by the letter, would it work, or are there some additional special steps to follow? thanks.
  13. the roll indicator tick marks on the HUD are placed at 10,20,30,45 degrees L/R respectively
  14. agree. although i doubt that all devs look too often into the forums -i wouldn't, if i were in their place. :D and as wags said: at least, it shows the community cares about the product.
  15. here is another set on ebay, if anyone is interested. rather expensive, but seems to include some kind of sensors and serial cable. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.de%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F133268935536
  16. hi, the saitek, actually logitec, TQs are certainly not superior in quality, at least the ones i got several years ago, but their big plus is their versatility. you can switch the throttle lever caps, and also get some mods to allow for accurate layouts of all sorts of airplanes, from piston over turboprop to big jet. you'll need 2 of them in order to make use of all these options. they're around €60 each currently at amazon. hope that helps, cheers HiLok
  17. hey, thanks for adding the link! cheers hilok
  18. hey, thanks! didn't know that was possible. +1 for a native DCS option to set AB detents without messing up the curves. for me only linear "curves" make ingame throttle response intuitive; i tried throttle curvatures on the hornet and the viper, but never got used to it... cheers hilok
  19. good question, i'm gonna integrate my answer into the guide. you are right - it depends: if you want your throttle to replicate the f16 design (aft lever range for switching between cutoff-idle-cutoff exclusively), then you also need to adjust the saturation in order to make use of the full idle-AB range ingame; your throttle will need some kind of idle detent (i.e. you can feel where idle on the throttle is), for this to make sense. or, in other words: the above guide will transform the aft lever range of your throttle into a digital switch. hence the analog axis "starts" at the idle detent. that being said, if there is no detent on your throttle, or just because you wish so, you could omit the adjustment of the saturation. in this case, you have to implement a digital switch as condition, in order to prevent inadvertently going into cutoff. this way, after you activate ingame idle by holding the assigned switch while moving the throttle out of its full aft position, you are able to use your throttle's full range as usual for the idle-AB range ingame. hope that makes sense cheers hilok
  20. same here with the VIPER on NTTR. tried a couple of Y channels: no range info. X-band works though. maybe there are some restrictions or channel/band combinations that don't work and i don't know of... this though sounds like a bug to me. cheers hilok
  21. Hi everyone, this guide focusses on the TM Cougar TQS and the DCS VIPER, but should also be applicable to any other thrust levers not featuring an idle/cutoff button bound to their axis, and any other DCS module. (I am using the RealSimulator TUSBA v1 attached to the TQS, but it should work without it) It works like this: during engine start, you press & hold a joystick button on your throttle while moving the throttle from fully aft to your idle detent. This activates a virtual button that you can map to the idle/cutoff command in the game control settings. After releasing the button, the (ingame) throttle won't go to cutoff, even if you inadvertently pull your throttle fully aft. Only if you once again press & hold the assigned button while moving your throttle to the full aft position, it will go cutoff ingame. The button/switch you choose to assign remains available for any mapping ingame. I used the Cougar radar cursor button, but of course the choice is totally up to you, also whether or not you want to use an extra button (see Note at 9. for more details to this)... For this to work you will need a little app called vJoy (pls google), and another one called Joystick Gremlin, both free! Here's a concise step by step guide: 1.) Install vJoy (Installer may freeze at the end, disregard) 2.) Restart PC 3.) Config vJoy (see pic, notice number of buttons: 1) 4.) Restart PC 5.) Install Joystick Gremlin 6.) Config Joystick Gremlin (PLEASE CAREFULLY STUDY THE PICS BELOW in order for everything to work out right, you might have to tweak the axis range to suit your setup) 7.) Activate Joystick Gremlin (joypad icon = green) and test in windows' USB Game Controllers (red button icon should light up & shut off, when doing the manoeuvre; see pic) 8.) Config DCS: add vJoy button (see pic) 9.) Adjust axis saturation (optional) Tick the slider checkbox. Move your throttle to your idle detent. The upper red dot on the graph indicates the position of your thrust lever. Now adjust saturation such that the red dot overlays the edge of the curve as shown in the pic below. Note: if you want your throttle to replicate the F16 design (aft lever range for switching between cutoff-idle-cutoff exclusively), then you also need to adjust the saturation in order to make use of the full idle-AB range ingame; your throttle will need some kind of idle detent (i.e. you can feel where idle on the throttle is), for this to make sense. That being said, if there is no detent on your throttle, or just because you wish so, you can omit this step. In this case, you have to implement a digital switch as condition, in order to prevent inadvertently going into cutoff. This way, after you activate ingame idle (by holding the assigned switch while moving the throttle out of its full aft position), you are able to use your throttle's full range as usual for the idle-AB range ingame. That's it ! Enjoy, cheers HiLok
  22. not sure, if it relates to this. i'm not getting green blips of the tanker and its escort on the HSD. other friendlies do show though. i set up the tanker exactly as in the default instant action missions, where it is displayed on the HSD (including all advanced waypoint items). any thoughts?
  23. thanks for sharing that insider info, deano! that's what i thought, but then i found the other way around (keep upper E-bracket horizontal line aligned with the -2.5° pitch line on the RWY threshold, and simply control FPV with power) much easier. so i was wondering, if this could be a valid real-life technique, or just something that coincidentally happens to work in a sim... thanks hilok
  24. what's the common technique on final during landing: keep the E-bracket in place using the stick, and control FPV with power or vice versa (or none of these) ? thanks.

same here with the VIPER. tried a couple of Y channels: no range info. X-band works though. maybe there are some restrictions or channel/band combinations that don't work...
